ZachTheZip
Akron is coming off a good win, and Can't's game at Buffalo has been delayed due to weather. Things look favorable for Akron, but anything can happen in a rivalry game.
you am i
The Can't-Buffalo game scheduled for tonight has been cancelled due to weather. It may be played a few days from now, which would require the Akron game to be pushed back.

Although, that would surely mean that there's no chance the game would be on ESPN2.
cjapsu
Actually - because both Can't and UB are out of contention for Mac East champion, wouldn't the more likely scenario be that the game is postponed until "championship" weekend considering neither team will be playing in Detroit? My first thought is that they'd outright cancel the game but because winning it would (probably) mean UB would be bowl-eligible, I'm guessing they wouldn't accept a mutual "forfeit."Given that, though, I'd rather they keep screwing with Can't's schedule so they don't know which way is up by the time we play them next week... Although they can get to six wins, two of their wins came against FCS (1-AA) schools. You are only allowed to have one of those games count. So, for bowl purposes, they only have 3 wins. GJGood
Why not have the Wagon Wheel game the day after Thanksgiving? It has happened before.
skip-zip
Why not have the Wagon Wheel game the day after Thanksgiving? It has happened before. And the 2005 SnowBowl Game was ON Thanksgiving. At this point, I am thinking that the Buffalo/Can't game will get played in the next couple of days, which means that they'd probably delay the Akron/Ken+ game until next Saturday. It would probably be foolish to make this a Friday-after-Thanksgiving game on such short notice, since fans of both schools never previously altered their Thanksgiving travel and family plans around the game. cjapsu
Because UB cannot become bowl eligible based on their 2 non-FBS wins (thanks to Staton14's excellent point), my guess is still that they're just going to cancel the game. One game already got screwed up logistically, I can't imagine the MAC would want to screw up two of them, especially since the UA/Can't State game is a rivalry, season-ending game. Yeah...the MAC is soooooo very fan-conscious. They would NEVER play a game on a day where they might only get a few hundred fans in attendance. Fan attendance is the driving force behind all the MAC front-office game day decisions.
uhgrad2002
The game would be Buffalo's Senior Night (if they have such a thing). I expect they would push to play it. They are scheduled to play at UMASS the day after Thanksgiving so that day looks to be out. Moving to this Saturday would allow them to get in Senior Night and keep their last date. Then moving Akron's last game to the next Saturday would work for the host team and make it easier for more Akron fans to attend.
Dr Z
Then moving Akron's last game to the next Saturday would work for the host team and make it easier for more Akron fans to attend. This season schedule is just killing my attendance. I had this last date circled on my calendar since the beginning of the season and planned a trip around it. I'm sure it will get moved, and I won't be able to attend. Boo mother nature. I know you can't control weather, but you live in Buffalo, deal with the consequences and cancel the dumb Ken+ game. 207 fans in Buffalo will be upset. 6 hippies will protest. Don't mess with our rivalry date. Let's go super AD.
Dave in Green
Buffalo area is expected to get another 2-3 feet of snow today on top of 5-6 feet already there. How likely is it they'll be ready to host a game this Saturday?

Dr Z
Although the Bills are planning to pay a bunch of folks to help shovel out the stadium"The storm dumped an estimated 220,000 tons of snow on Ralph Wilson Stadium outside Buffalo and left Sunday’s game between the Bills and the New York Jets in doubt. Snow piled halfway to the crossbar in each end zone. The Bills offered $10 an hour and free tickets to the game to anyone who volunteered to shovel out the stadium. The Erie County executive, Mark Poloncarz, said he could not guarantee that the usual complement of law-enforcement officers and emergency vehicles would be available for the game." source Ken+ UB game Tentatively scheduled for Friday at 1 pm

Dave in Green
Buffalo is a disaster area. With the additional 2 feet of snow so far today roofs are starting to collapse in homes and businesses. People are being urged to stay off roads. Trying to play a football game tomorrow would be irresponsible and stupid.

I don't know what the forecast was, but if they knew this weather was going to happen, it was irresponsible and stupid to take a couple of busloads of college kids on a trip to Buffalo in that kind of weather. As soon as the roads clear, they should pack their bags and head back to Can't.

That's lake-effect snow for you. The issue is people, including the teams from their hotels, getting to the stadium. Can't State's already there, and their equipment truck made it after getting stuck in the storm. It would be irresponsible to send them home without at least playing. Even if you don't open the gates to the public and play it as an empty-stadium scrimmage.

Dave in Green
Buffalo's campus is north of Lake Erie and just outside the disaster area, so it's true there's little snow there. But any security people and emergency workers at the game would be serving the public much better by helping those a few miles to the south who need all the help they can get. You can bet this game will be widely criticized for any resources it may take away from those in need.
