Balsy
Besides the transfer we already have, I'm done with transfer QBs. We have several players to develop on our bench already: Chapman, Woodson, Kincade; and next year we'll have Harrison. Our QB future beyond Pohl is very bright. If Pohl is the starter next year, storm clouds are over the program. If this Florida QB were to miraculously transfer to Akron and win the starting position above, storm clouds are over the program.

UA1987
My guess: Pohl is our 2015 starter and Kincade is groomed to take over. The other guys (Chapman and Woodson) will may take some snaps and could surprise, but will probably play for the Zips at other positions, unless injuries change things. If Pohl is the best we've got, than we've got another year of a sluggish do-nothing offense.
UA1987
If Chapman looks like an unlikely QB standout in Spring, I could see him being tried at RB as this is where he may have a shot to shine at this level and for this team. Pohl will be fine in 2015 as the Zips return to an up tempo offense (with some better linemen?).

johnnyzip84
I'm not sure why it took so long for me to take a look at his Ashland stats, but it does make me wonder if ITZ may have a point regarding Chapman. I know several fans, whose opinions I respect, were impressed with his physical skills during spring ball last year. But there's no hiding the fact that he did not exactly dominate the GLIAC in his limited appearances for LO's Eagles. The QB situation is going to make for an intriguing spring camp in 2015, that's for sure. Dr Z
John Senter should be tweeting Braxton. I would use a different angle than girls though.

People who don't know much about him think he is a guy that runs the ball on every play, but this guy can throw. I went to Roosevelt with him for one semester until he left for Pitt and I went to every game that year. Using him at running back would be a disgusting misuse of talent. I think he will be the man for the Zips in 2015. He made mistakes an it's time for him to take advantage of a second chance. He will be a junior in the upcoming season. UA1987
mhammon97 - most posters on this board are pretty well informed. Your boi Chapman has proved nothing yet, but all Zips fans would welcome anyone who can help us win in 2015. What is disgusting to me however, is the disdain for Pohl. If he is healthy in 2015, he will be difficult to unseat. If that happens, however, and the new starter takes us to victories then great. But if Chapman struggles in Spring at QB, I'd like to see him on the field helping the Zips win now in some capacity. Heck - put him on special teams if necessary. Balsy
We don't have a disdain for Pohl, but we've seen the best that Pohl can do. He's enough to get you to 5-7...maybe 6-6...nothing more. We don't hate the guy, we simply think that the Zips can (and need to) do better at the QB position.

UA1987
If someone can beat out Pohl in Spring then bring him on, but remember, when healthy, this is a guy that was at the helm when we came within inches and seconds of beating Michigan (Michigan hold on D'Orazio not called). Pohl is the guy at QB that won our greatest OOC victory to date - Pitt. What stopped 2013 and 2014 from being better in the win column was a Pohl ankle sprain (13) and a concussion (14) that limited his mobility or put him on the bench. The slide in 14 occurred after Pohl was clubbed and knocked out of play for several games because we had a struggling offensive line. Remember we were 4-2 until that Pohl injury. We have a senior QB in 2015 who has sacrificed his body for the Zips that is smart and has a good arm. If he can run the ball when needed in an up tempo 2015 offense, I think he is our guy. To call for his head now is a damn shame, especially when there are 10 other players on offense to consider. To me the only criticism of Pohl that makes any sense is that he may not be durable enough.

BTW, the Pitt game you mention, I think I remember somebody getting benched in that game after a red zone INT.
UA1987
Dr Z - there are two posters on this board that I place above all other others - you and JZ84. Let's see how Spring works out, but I'm pulling for whoever at QB that will get the Zips to a bowl in 2015. Go Zips!
UA1987
Dr. Z - in the Pitt game Pohl was 15/29 and 193 yards 1 td 1 int. Woodson was 2/5 and 20 yards. Pohl was replaced for only a couple of plays and I question that move.
Dr Z
Dr Z - there are two posters on this board that I place above all other others - you and JZ84. Let's see how Spring works out, but I'm pulling for whoever at QB that will get the Zips to a bowl in 2015. Go Zips! Agreed. The success of the Zips season depends on the play of the QB (obvious). This is what I wrote in 2013 about Pohl, he has done nothing on the field to change my game day evaluation since then. I've stated this many times here, but it is my opinion that he needs to put more time away from the game to excel on the field. I believe he has the physical tools to do so, but he needs to be quicker, and better, at his decisions on the field. That is a comfort issue. Keep in mind, my opinion is only based on what I see on game day. I attend most home games, and a few away games a year. I am not at practice (other than the spring game), I am not in any meetings, and I'm not repeating what some guy that works for the University is relaying to me. It's just my opinion. If he is giving a Charlie Frye-like (playbook study monster) effort off the field, then it might be time to try something else. If he isn't, he needs to be doing so.Dr. Z - in the Pitt game Pohl was 15/29 and 193 yards 1 td 1 int. Woodson was 2/5 and 20 yards. Pohl was replaced for only a couple of plays and I question that move. I was at the game, and it will go down as one of my top 5 Zips football moments thus far. As of last year, I didn't see Woodson as our answer, but before the Pitt game, from the play on the field, I saw the same as coach Bowden, and I would have sat KP16 at the exact time as he did. We will have to agree to disagree on that move. The one thing I will mention about the Pitt game, is the same as I did after the game, it was one of the few games AJ mixed the run and pass well. Hundley and the offensive line were awesome that day. It is imperative that the Zips improve the offensive game planning, and play calling next year, whomever is taking snaps. From some of coach Bowden's post season comments, I think he is aware. I'm dying to know what he is going to do about it.
Jrship35
It's a lock ................... Pohl is not truly in the mixBowden is not going to toss the kid out, but if he is the starting QB for the Zips in 2015, I will be floored and also extremely concerned about the future ............... One of these kids is going to have a lights out Spring and step right into the roll ................... Bowden will be in some deep poop with anything less than 8-4 ( IMO ) I think the concern is the improvement needed on the play calling front .................. Did I say that again ? LOL
