sochockylist124 Posted March 19, 2015 Report Posted March 19, 2015 Does anyone know if the Walsh game at Cub Cadet tomorrow night is still on? You know, since communication is lacking. Quote

Staton14 Posted March 20, 2015 Author Report Posted March 20, 2015 4-1 crew at the half. Not sure what lineup Crew has in but the twitter account mentioned Kamara scored one of the goals, so it sounds like they have some top guys in (they don't play this weekend).Akron starting lineup: https://twitter.com/ZipsMSoc/status/578963867147042816Second half lineup: https://twitter.com/ZipsMSoc/status/578977746518425600 Quote
ZachTheZip Posted March 20, 2015 Report Posted March 20, 2015 So I guess we're not as good as a professional team. 1 Quote

ZipsBurgh Posted March 20, 2015 Report Posted March 20, 2015 Kangni Gabianou-Adjanoh is wearing the #27 formerly worn by Nathan Quirk. Anyone heard anything about either of them recently? The most recent stuff I can find on Gabianou is high school stuff from 2012. Quote
sochockylist124 Posted March 21, 2015 Report Posted March 21, 2015 Souders did not play?Souders started against Walsh. The lineup was: DeMoya, De Vera, Cregan, Souders, Gabianou, Sanda, Laryea, Gainford, Nanchoff, Dakwar, Macchione 1 Quote
Blue & Gold Posted March 21, 2015 Report Posted March 21, 2015 6-0 win for the Zips.Thanks.And wow, was that even with the split squad? Quote
Zip_ME87 Posted March 21, 2015 Report Posted March 21, 2015 Thanks. And wow, was that even with the split squad?Game vs Walsh as noted above had Souders and Laryea but it was a split squad.Souders and Laryea did not travel to Columbus. The Crew had all but one of their starters in the first half, I believe, They completely substituted at half. So, the Zips who worked their butts off in the first half to keep up with MLS starters played a fresh MLS team in the 2nd half with few subs due to the split squad. Although the final score may not have reflected it, the Zips represented well vs the Crew. BTW, the Zips won the aggragate 7-6 on the day. I really like how these Zips are coming together. Keep working hard guys! Quote
fknbuflobo Posted March 21, 2015 Report Posted March 21, 2015 2015 squad is definitely better than 2014 squad. Youngsters are gelling. No bout adoubt it. 1 Quote
fknbuflobo Posted March 21, 2015 Report Posted March 21, 2015 Though he played far from a perfect match, I was impressed with newcomer walk-on Gabianou #27, playing RB. He showed poise, touch and athleticism. Stout boy too.Want to learn more about this guy. Quote
Zip_ME87 Posted April 1, 2015 Report Posted April 1, 2015 @ZipsMSoc just retweeted UL Soccer that Saturday's Spring match has been moved up to 5 pm. https://twitter.com/UofLmenssoccer/status/583280521372962816 Quote
zippyfan34 Posted April 4, 2015 Report Posted April 4, 2015 Dakwar red carded 9 minutes in. But Zips have it tied 1-1 in the 28th minute. Quote
TennZip Posted April 4, 2015 Report Posted April 4, 2015 Dakwar red carded 9 minutes in. But Zips have it tied 1-1 in the 28th minute. per Louisville twitter....Souto got 2nd yellow card at 42 minutesso, zips will play 9 vs. 11 for the last 48 minutes Quote
ZachTheZip Posted April 4, 2015 Report Posted April 4, 2015 If they can keep the final score close while down two players, consider me impressed. Quote
ZachTheZip Posted April 4, 2015 Report Posted April 4, 2015 Still tied 1-1 at 90'. Strong defense, though I assume the gameplan when down two men is to just go into a defensive shell. Quote
TennZip Posted April 4, 2015 Report Posted April 4, 2015 holding an elite team scoreless for 48 minutes...while playing 9 vs. 11.....shows a tremendous amount of tenacity ....Will be interesting to read comments from Jared...and also from zips fans that made the trip to the Ville....very good result after dealing with much adversity Quote
Zip_ME87 Posted April 5, 2015 Report Posted April 5, 2015 Down 2, the "9" were still attacking as well as defending. Should have had a PK on a flagrant (obvious to everyone except the ref who a short while afterward "lost" a contact lens) handball in the penalty area. Zips also had a number of other good chances. Most of the last 15 minutes seemed to be a barrage of Carinals attempts at goal, but the "9" Zips' defense was outstanding.Very impressive work by the "9" (not actually 9 since there were subs). Also impressive Richie Laryea's goal when the Zips were down 1 man.EDIT: Someone behind me commented the Zips must be so agressive because Lolla used to be our coach and he's been so successful at Louisville. I turned around and said absolutely not. The Zips won a National Championship after he left. How many has Louisville won in his 9 seasons here? 4 Quote
Dave in Green Posted April 5, 2015 Report Posted April 5, 2015 holding an elite team scoreless for 48 minutes...while playing 9 vs. 11.....shows a tremendous amount of tenacity ....It doesn't even take a lot of knowledge about soccer to recognize what a great accomplishment this was. I'm extremely impressed. 2 Quote
