Hilltopper
1981, Did you ever consider that reason Deji performed so well in the second half was because OU subbed in their second unit at the same time he entered the game? That a big part of the reason he likes to come off the bench is because he can outperform the other teams second unit?
Dr Z
Start Deji- we win! This team plays better when he is in the lineup. He is in the right spot on the floor most of the time, so he puts his teammates in opportunistic offensive situations. I hope he can stay healthy. The more DI4, the better the Zips chances of advancing in the mac tournament. I just wish we had two more that worked on offense the way he does. 1981 grad
Hilltopper, your premise that it is easier to play against the second unit may be a valid one. We brought Reggie and Kretzer off the bench to play against the 2nd unit and they score a combined 19 points. When is the last time that happened? It may be better to bring your players who are struggling off the bench to get them more confidence. The stats do not lie and when you look at MAC play, Deji is shooting 49%, that is third behind Pat and Big Dog. He also has more offensive rebounds in MAC play than Kwan and has played less minutes. His scoring has increased in MAC play where many of our players have reduced scoring in the MAC. KD cannot afford to bring his arguably best or 2nd best player off the bench. (Do Labron, Love, and Kyrie come off the bench?) We lost 4 games with Deji coming off the bench and won with him starting. Keep him a starter.
