LZIp
Valid point. The shocking thing with bowden is that he is bringing in BCS talent on defense, but he can't seem to recruit any offensive playmakers whatsoever. This is his fourth year and he has still not recruited a standout talent at qb, rb or wr.I'm just as disappointed in everybody else. We have to remember that last night we were facing the best team and best defense we will face this season. I agree that the talent being brought in could be much better. However, I saw some true freshman in on offense, which leads me to believe that the quality he is bringing in is improving. Last year, I believe Jerome Lane and O'Leary were the only freshman who weren't red-shirted. Kincade was a great recruit. MTB was as well. Kincade bounced before we ever seen him on the field. My guess is due to the change in offense. MTB's career thus far has been a bust, he isn't playing this season and I wouldn't expect much to change. Chapman was a 4 star recruit in HS. So the talent is obviously there. You can see that he is a great athlete. I would like to see him start by completing a pass and not run as much, but I'm not ready to give up on him in his first D1 game against what will likely be the best team he faces in his career.I also know for a fact that we could have had Roger Lewis (BG, initially recruited by OSU IIRC), but the coaching staff didn't want to get involved with his "demands". Good for them.
you am i
I remember some clowns on this board saying, as Rob Ianello rolled up his second consecutive 1-11 record, "Hey, look at Al Golden at Temple. Same thing. Let's not give up too quickly on Ianello because he might be 'The Next Al Golden'."What Bill Snyder or Al Golden did at their respective schools has no bearing on the Zips.No direct bearing, but I think it is somewhat instructive. gozips19
I'll be very interested to see how the O line plays moving forward. They had a real tough time with OU's D line. The way this offense is set up they will have to dominate in the running game to open up deep throws to the wide outs. I am not going to give up on Chapman yet. He has some real talent running the ball. Just hope he average at throwing it. My hope is that who ever the the QB will have more wide open throws as the line comes into its own. On to Pitt
zipsoutsider
The future for Akron is going to be a nightmare. Bowden must go. How do you recruit any type of offensive players when this is your plan. Receivers won't come because you have a QB who can't throw (poor Jerome Lane - he could be great). Running Backs won't come because you have a terrible QB who has more carries than a highly recruited back (how long before Hundley gets frustrated). So you recruit great defensive guys and lose every game even when they play well because you can't put up any points. Yesterday was disgusting and if this is what the future holds then Akron football will be following the Baseball program. Bowden and Milwee shame on both of you if this is the best you can do. a-zip
pphilfran - Ignore Capt Kangaroo. He blames everything bad in this world on Rob Ianello - ISIS, riots, racial tensions, global warming - ALL Rob Ianellos fault. I agree, we do need to patient and we have the best coach we could hope for. It hard for even a Bowden to bring talent in after the miserable seasons we've had and an empty stadium for recruiting visits. Heck, our soccer coach lost one game this year and some Zip fans want him fired. Thanks for coming on. Good luck this season.

Jrship35
Watched the game this morning on YouTube 1. Offensive line was completely overwhelmed by the OU front seven ..... Thank goodness that we will see nothing like this the remainder of the year 2. Totally frustrated by the terrible accuracy of BOTH QB's. Embarrassing3. Our starting defense is for real, need that depth to develop to give quality rest time. There was some broken coverages, but once OU got that O cranked up, it sucked all of the gas out of the tank. Any concern I have is in the middle of the field. Watch the film, put the ball in Pohl's hand so he can get a rythm, take our $1 million (that's the number I heard ) and get ready for PittLooks like we came out of the game with minimal injuries !! Which is a victory Beat Pitt !!!

zipsoutsider
Woodson would be the guy I would look to start against Pitt. He looked better than the other 2 and if we are committed to a QB running game, it can't be Pohl. Pohl was horrible when he had to run - he just isn't a runner. Frankly, if we are that committed to a QB running, KP16 should not have been the #2, Woodson should have been the #2. I really hope what we saw from Chapman was an anomaly and not really who he was. Chapman looked terrible, except on one (maybe two) of the QB runs. We gotta get some production from the passing game quickly or this season is gonna be ugly. Dave in Green
It will be easier to establish the running game against teams with less talented defenses than Oklahoma's, and that will help open up the passing lanes to get at least modest contributions from the Zips' weak passing game. He looks completely unathletic when attempts to run.
