"Big 12 Commissioner Bob Bowlsby put it best, telling CBS Sports' Jon Solomon that the way the graduate transfer rule is being used "sort of smacks of 'hired gun.'"

So what. If a kid can complete his coursework within 4 years, while playing a sport, good for him. That's a real student-athlete. They NCAA should be praising these guys, not trying to create rules to squelch them.

19-out-of-20 of these grad transfers are old guys that are being run-off of their P5 school to free up a scholarship for a younger guy with some upside. It's a great reward for a kid that hits the books to get a chance to see the field in his final year of eligibility.

This. Only the people who lose out complain. Plus Golson transferred because he wasn't good enough. It's not like he screwed ND.

Could you imagine what it would be like if we didn't bring in our transfers? HS recruiting, even with the Bowden name and program improvement, has still been overall lackluster. I'd wager we would still be a 1 win/season program without our transfers over the years. It helps programs get out of that black hole. Sometimes guys transfer to other big name schools (see Russell Wilson). You can't have your cake and eat it too.
