Per EA, practices are closed. There probably won't be a lot of news out of camp this year.

Three comments:

1.) If you don't know the difference between "eluded" and "alluded," I really can't take your opinion seriously.

Yet with the bulk of a talented team, featuring a robust defense returning, the Zips are picked to finish second in the MAC East Division and advance to a bowl game that alluded them a season ago.Yet with the bulk of a talented team, featuring a robust defense returning, the Zips are picked to finish second in the MAC East Division and advance to a bowl game that alluded them a season ago.

2.) If you think that a receiving corp consisting of D'Orazio, LT Smith, Bennett, Bickley and Andrew Pratt is "Top 10" in the FBS, I REALLY can't take your opinion seriously.

3.) For all his weaknesses in other areas, at least EA penned a decent zinger to close it out.

It would have been better is he said: "The Zips gave Tom Wistercill $65 million to go to town and buy a decent football program, and when he got home, his mom found he'd spent it all on a magic bag of crap. It's been Bowden's job for 4 years to power wash that dump truck sized mound of crap down the Buchtel Avenue sewer system and give The University of Akron a proper return on it's sizable football investments. This is the year he, and the team comes through."

I'm assuming that EA meant they were top 10 statistically in production, not that they were really that good as a collective group.

EA has harped on that "Top 10 WR Group" for a year.

If all someone knows is statistics, and has no ability to form an opinion based upon their own eyes and brain, then yes there is probably some statistic that you can rationalize to make the Zips 2014 WR's a Top 10 FBS unit.

But if you know anything about football, have a brain, and watched the Zips, I don't think there was one WR that would make the two-deep on any of the Top 50 FBS teams, let alone be a Top 10 unit overall.

MAYBE D'Orazio. But no one else is even close.

GoZips.com has a day one summary with the video and a photo gallery, as well as a training camp roster. Michele Harris tore hush Achilles tendon today and us out for the season.

He was on his 6th year of eligibility, so I think his career is pretty much over. Too bad,,,if healthy, we really could have used him.

Poor kid can't catch a break. What a bummer. :(

I thought Traylor Bennett was injured? He is not on the roster and Hakeem Lawrence is wearing #1. Is this new news or have I been asleep for a couple weeks?

Also noticed that DeonTae Moore is not on the roster.

They're on the roster. MTB is #10 now, Moore is #56

Ugh bad news all around. Sad to hear about Harris. I wouldn't be shocked about MTB. Him being out for the season for his wrist injury sounded fishy to me right off the bat.

Yeah, who knows. The roster that you can click on from the main FB page still shows MTB and Moore, but not on the roster you show. They both have Bell and McNeil, though, so it's strange. Maybe one of the writers can get to the bottom of this...

Fun info. I like Kyle's attitude. If Lane can learn the position, he should be a physical mismatch. I would assume his blocking will be a big asset in most offenses, but especially our new offense. Good luck to Bickley, I will guess he will do well at a different level. His energy on the field is going to help his new team.

Will be very interesting to see how quickly Lane can adjust as he has NFL size. The team should have some much needed size at WR and TE this year. As for the article I read it as "We're really trying to give Chapman the job". Hope he's up for the task as he's a special athlete.

So many times these videos people put together aren't worth watching, but this guy really knows his stuff when it comes to the Zips.

Sorry, you will never get that time back.
