TB is generally very accommodating to reporters but her question was so out of place it deserved the response she got. It could have only been topped off with a, "Bless your heart."

HAHAHAHA .... Love it when Bowden says .. "I don't know who your talking about" Then "I'm sure the young man did a fine job"

Classic :rofl::rofl::rofl::thumb:

Good Afternoon. Cajuns fan living in Houston. Two time graduate from UL.

A little about the Cajuns:

Under Coach Hudspeth, the Cajuns have had 4 consecutive 9 win seasons and 4 straight bowl victories. The Cajuns run first, pass second. Elijah McGuire is our best back. Arguably the 2nd best back in the state behind Fornette at LSU. Our 2nd back is Pierce and he is quick. Haack is the starting QB. This will be his 4th start ever. Strong passer. Will scramble if he needs to.

Our defense continues to improve. We lost two excellent DLs to graduation last year, but our LBs are strong.

The Cajuns went down early against Kentucky, made halftime adjustments and was tied going late into the 4th quarter. Bad penalties and a timely run sealed the Cajuns fate. The Cajuns were vanilla against NSU.

Not sure what to expect this week. I don't think the Cajuns will be complacent. They had a number of injuries going into the bye. Looks like they may have at least three starters back for Akron. The Cajuns have a "revenge" against an in-state opponent next week so they could look past Akron, but I don't expect it to happen.

Akron will see a lot of run from the Cajuns.

Cajun Field has recently expanded to 36,900. We normally get just under 30K each game.

For those who are going to Lafayette, be ready to enjoy great food and great hospitality.

Thanks for posting and welcome ......... Very solid team you have there. Looks like the running attack you guys have and our solid front 7 is gonna set up for the classic war at the point of attack !!! Win the line, win the game

I like it !!! Best of luck to ULL, and a "Who Dat" shout out from the ATL !!!!!

Thanks for the kind words! I second what Cajunjeb is preaching, if you find yourself in Lafayette for game day you will have an amazing experience! Just walk around in your Zips gear and you will be taken care of.

One last thing, if possible, please try to refer to us as Louisiana or UL. Yes, academically we are the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, but athletically we prefer to be called Louisiana/UL. It has been difficult to get this through to the ESPN mother ship, along with some instate backlash, it has been a challenging fight. Anyway, I wish the Zips the best of luck and hope for safe travels for all!

Hustle Belt Preview of the Game. --By Matt Hammond

If the Zips are going to be successful on offense, our wide receivers will need to build on last week's performance. I agree with Matt's assessment below:

The Akron receiving corps also showed improvements last week that need to carry over to this week if Akron is going to win. Jerome Lane converted to receiver from safety/linebacker just a couple of weeks before the season began, and it has been a good transition so far. His hands aren't great, but he has the size and athleticism to be a huge threat when running with the ball. He caught 3 passes for 99 yards last week, including a 50-yard touchdown pass from Tra Chapman, the first of both of their careers. Another receiver that has shown great athleticism is Anthony Young, a track star who transferred from Indiana. Young caught 2 passes last week for 81 total yards. The catch that leads me to pointing him out as a possible star-in-the-making was a 28-yarder diving up the field. The speed and athleticism of these two could make them into offensive playmakers for Akron-something Zips fans haven't seen in a long time.

I love these images of the play Matt describes, found at GoZips.com:

Some good coverage out of LA....Akron QB's and A.J. Milwee:

Nice story on coach Milwee. It would be nice to hear AJ interviewed more to gain insight into our offensive game plans. I wish he were available at the press conference after the games. I've brought this up before, but I would love to have the snap counts for each game. This only seems to be available in the NFL, not the NCAA. If I had the snap counts I could make some kind of observations into the our game plans from game to game.

Everybody is talking offense when it comes to the Zips nowadays,

George writes that the Zips seek their identity on road trip to Louisiana-Lafayette

"Thomas Woodson, who undeniably showed some things against Savannah State with a 12-of-20, 207-yard effort, will start. The pressure will be firmly on the shoulders of Woodson, a sophomore, to continue to add to his resume. It won’t be easy."

Cajuns rank ninth in the country, averaging 304 rushing yards per game.

If Woodson throws for 300 yards and has a couple of picks (4 would be too many though) taking some well-conceived shots downfield, it would be OK with me (not that anyone's asking me). But let's not get cute inside the 5 yard line when there are a lot of running options (including the QB).

I'm sure the QB situation has been discussed plenty on here in the past week, but I'm willing to give Woodson another real and fair shot. I think the system last year just wasn't a very good fit for his skill set. He probably isn't as good of a runner of Chapman, nor as good of a passer as Pohl, but he provides a mix of both that is needed. I wonder if Chapman would be open to a position change to RB? I think the system fits Woodson well, and I liked what I saw last week. Lets not forget he was once a commit to Arizona, so he has some talent.

I said a while back on another thread that a Dual-QB backfield might be an option, but even I am not even sure if that is a option(and no, the "Slash" thing going with the Steelers) is not what I am talking about. I mean a true Dual QB where no one knows who is going to get the ball.

Matt Hammond of Hustle Belt gives game information and his players to watch:

Akron QB Tommy Woodson...

Akron WR Anthony Young...Akron needs playmakers to step up, and Young could be a surprising one.
Louisiana RB Elijah McGuire: McGuire is one of the Cajuns' most experienced players and he's the leader of the dynamic rushing attack. His 248 yards and 5 touchdowns this season have been added to already impressive career totals, as he is only a junior.
Louisiana QB Brooks Haack: If Akron can stuff the Louisiana rushing attack, the Cajuns will be forced to air it out. Haack has completed 64% of his passes this year, but his TD/INT ratio is 0/2. It's a short sample size, but it could be something to keep an eye on.
I'll add one more. Defensive lineman Rodney Coe. Coe got his ankle tweaked in the Pitt game and didn't play in the Tigers game last week. I have not heard if he is playing or not today, but when Rodney is healthy, he is disruptive in the trenches. If he is not making a play, he commends enough attention to free up space for his teammates. RC9's presence against a successful Cajun rushing attack will help the Zips accomplish their defensive goal of getting Louisiana into punting situations.
