Bowden mentioned during his show that Jamal Marcus was being held out for a groin. They were keeping him out until conference play.

Amazing our defense played so well without him. He seems as-good-as-advertised.

The guy with the most vowels in the MAC, Daumantas Venckus-Cucchiara, has played pretty effectively in his absence.

This source has Pohl listed as the only injury, and he's listed as questionable. Hopefully they're just being cautious with Kyle and hopefully that also means Newman Williams is back from his hammy. In addition to Jerome, he can be another match-up problem for MAC secondaries if he can get the ball with some forward momentum.

In all the years following the Zips, I have never found a good source for injuries. None are as accurate as the NFL injury list.

I agree that they're notoriously inaccurate and incomplete. And a hamstring is a tough injury to come back from in a short period of time. We'll see how accurate this is in this case.

I noticed Josh McNeil played a lot in Newman's absence @ Louisiana, but was utilized as a blocker. I don't know if he even ran 1 pattern last Saturday night. Wonder if he might slip across the middle against Ohio. shhh12.jpg

Depth chart for this week has him at #2 so I think he could play.

Hopefully in 4th quarter mop-up duty. I don't want to see any "2-QB" stuff in the 1st or 2nd quarter.

It's "Sheriff Woody" or Bust from here-on-out. Take the bullet out of Deputy Pohl's gun and assign him to paperwork detail.

I was just telling my wife the other day that we never had a T-Shirt Tailgate this season. Three home games, and nothing close to 70 degree sunny weather. What are the chances?

I'm bummed.

And since I've lived in NE Ohio my entire life, I can probably count on something completely out of the ordinary, and we'll get that kind of day for the home game on Oct. 31st.

OU had a really tough, physical game last week. Vick hurt his ankle and was hobbled the entire game. He's a tough kid, but if his mobility is limited the Zips defense will make his life miserable Saturday.

Conversely, the Zips were able to pull their starters in the 4th quarter. We should be fresh. Coe is the one injury that's most-concerning, but other than that we're in great shape.

They sound a little nervous over there. They expected to be much bigger favorites than 2.5 points.

Considering the history of success that OU has had against the Zips, I think the point spread is a little surprising too. This game is huge. I would have never thought that after walking out of that Pitt game. That game seems like a season ago. Maybe thats what the fireworks display symbolized. A_frworksmiley.gif

I think this game could come down to one simple thing. Can the Zips, especially the defense, play aggressively without tempting the officials to flag them for questionable decisions? Two facts come into play here:

  1. UA has yet to play in a close contest in 2015.
  2. Since Solich has been HC, OU is not the type of team that defeats itself.

The Zips simply have to play with composure on both sides of the ball on Saturday in order to come away with the win.
