gozips19 Posted June 11, 2016 Report Posted June 11, 2016 Curious as to who will have a better chance to medal at some point between Murphy and Barber. Quote
ZippyRulz Posted June 13, 2016 Report Posted June 13, 2016 Goodbye Clayton. Thanks for representing UA and don't be a stranger http://www.gozips.com/sports/track/2015-16/releases/20160613jcpyqv 1 Quote
skip-zip Posted July 4, 2016 Report Posted July 4, 2016 (edited) I hope everyone has caught the information about watching this on TV tonight. Clayton WON his semifinal heat, and is running in the 800 Meter Final tonight at the Olympic Trials in Eugene, OR. His finals race is supposed to be on NBC Sports Network at 8:51PM Eastern Time. Good Luck Clayton. We'd love to see you in the Olympics representing our University and our Country. Edited July 4, 2016 by skip-zip edit Quote
zippyfan34 Posted July 5, 2016 Author Report Posted July 5, 2016 Is he also trying in the 1,500? Quote
skip-zip Posted July 5, 2016 Report Posted July 5, 2016 WOW. What a late kick to win !! Zippyfan, they explained that he didn't have a good enough national qualifying time to run in the 1,500, so he's only in the 800. Quote

roopride Posted July 6, 2016 Report Posted July 6, 2016 ZIPS continue to inspire!! Way to go Clayton. Quote
Z.I.P. Posted July 6, 2016 Report Posted July 6, 2016 Lots of Twitter action on Clayton's trials victory. Clayton was trending for a couple hours. How many of you know the man who presented him with the trials gold medal -- Dave Wottle? Canton and BGSU product. Here he is winning the US' last gold medal in the 800 at Munich in '72. 2 Quote
zippyfan34 Posted July 11, 2016 Author Report Posted July 11, 2016 Still would have loved to see what he could have done in the 1,500. 3rd place tonight was .2 seconds better than his NCAA final time. Quote

Just wait four years -- that's his eventual distance. He'll probably concentrate on that after Rio. Quote
Zip_ME87 Posted July 11, 2016 Report Posted July 11, 2016 @Z.I.P ... Thanks for that Dave Wottle gold medal footage. Quote

kreed5120 Posted August 12, 2016 Report Posted August 12, 2016 (edited) Clayton Murphy finished 4th in his heat just missing qualifying to the next round. Edit: Disregard my comment. Apparently I don't know enough about Track and Field. Edited August 12, 2016 by kreed5120 Quote
gozips19 Posted August 12, 2016 Report Posted August 12, 2016 Great to hear! Thought he'd be out as he placed 4th. He got clipped twice diring the race. How he didn't face plant on the first one is beyond me. Quote
zippyfan34 Posted August 12, 2016 Author Report Posted August 12, 2016 So best time during this round was 1:45:09 and Clayton ran 1:44:76 to win the U.S. Olympic trial. I know different conditions, temperatures, etc but hopefully he can run another good race and get to the finals. Quote

ZippyRulz Posted August 13, 2016 Report Posted August 13, 2016 Semifinal 3, Lane 4 (next to Rudisha). Quote
skip-zip Posted August 14, 2016 Report Posted August 14, 2016 YES!! He's in. Easy 2nd place finish in his heat. Quote
ZippyRulz Posted August 14, 2016 Report Posted August 14, 2016 Personal Best record time for him. Now he just needs a medal ! Quote
