ZachTheZip Posted September 6, 2016 Report Posted September 6, 2016 With the signing of a home-and-home with Troy, our 2017 OOC schedule is complete. Unfortunately, it leaves us with five home games for the season. No FCS patsy to warm up against, either. Makes sense, given the offense's projected maturation with most skill position starters returning as seniors. 09/02 - at Penn State 09/16 - at Troy 09/23 - Iowa State TBA - at Appalachian State Quote
LZIp Posted September 6, 2016 Report Posted September 6, 2016 I don't see any way that Appy State game isn't 9/9. Which unfortunately probably works out bad for me and hopes of attending. Quote

zippy5 Posted September 6, 2016 Report Posted September 6, 2016 I like the 4 OOC games, just a bummer that leaves us with 5 home games Quote
kreed5120 Posted September 8, 2016 Report Posted September 8, 2016 Bummer that likely we will be having our first 3 games all on the road. Quote

While they made no mention of it the game change at App St now appears in 2022 and is no longer listed next year. If true, that sucks I was looking forward to going down there next year. 2017 Sept. 2 at Penn State Sept. 16 at Troy Sept. 23 IOWA STATE 2018 Sept. 1 at Nebraska Sept. 22 at Iowa State 2019 August 31 at Illinois Sept. 7 UAB TBA TROY 2020 Sept. 12 at UAB Sept. 19 at Clemson 2022 Sept. 24 at Appalachian State Quote

It looks like they are trying to keep the 2 home and 2 away with 1 FCS team if I had to guess. TBH, I love that set up. Here's to going to Boone in 2022! Quote

kreed5120 Posted September 15, 2016 Report Posted September 15, 2016 Yeah, abandoning that FCS game wouldn't be wise. Bowden is still trying to overcome that perennial loser stigma attached to the program. Having an "easy opponent" puts us in position to be 1/6 of the way to bowl eligibility. Quote
