I work in Akron and can sneak out of work early if it is an early start. If they were both at 7, I would go to soccer (leaving wife and kids at home) and stream the bball game on my phone. Resolution achieved! Crisis abated! Well done!
TennZip
I have sympathy for those who have tickets to both. There are plenty of soccer season ticket holders who already bought tickets for all 3 post season games... their cost is sunk...just as much as the basketball season ticket holders Some people are going to have to choose. This is the NCAA tournament. Scheduling the match after the normal working day will allow the zips the best chance to get the best crowd that they can get. Heck, Keith Dambrot is famous for how much that he travels to zips soccer road matches. I hate that he will have to miss the match. As I said in my first note in this topic, zips soccer is the best sports program on the campus and elicits the most pride from its fan base.. This program deserves first class night time attendance. Hilltopper
The Zips played their best at the end of the season. All of those games were lightly attended and the guys did just fine.

Zips Mens Soccer's reputation, including sizable crowds, certainly helped to get Akron a home match this season. The UA Athletic Department owes it to this team to do everything possible to promote and encourage as large an attendance as possible. Zips Mens Basketball v American University is just another in a long tradition of cupcakes at the JAR .

There are not many avid followers for either program. Has MSOC drawn 2500 this year? Far fewer, by a long shot, would be "crossover" fans wanting to attend both the NCAA Tournament match and the home opener. These folks likely number in the dozens, if that. I cannot imagine any basketball season ticket holder ditching their duckets for the soccer match. Fear not, skip zip; that will not happen. Without looking at the exact attendance numbers, I would guess MSOC has drawn over 2500 three or four times this season. Mostly at the beginning of the year.
