Selection Process
The 2016 Division I Men’s Soccer championship provides for a field of 48 teams to compete in a single elimination tournament. Twenty-four conference champions qualify automatically; the balance of the field is selected at-large by the NCAA Division I Men’s Soccer Committee. The teams will be seeded so that 16 of the 48 teams will receive a First Round bye and automatically advance to the Second Round.

The 2016 NCAA Division I Men’s Soccer Championship bracket will be announced the Monday prior to the first round of competition.

Zips will host Villanova on thursday night

Villanova was 10-7-3 and is 42 in RPI

winner plays at Indiana on sunday

Indiana was 15 in rpi....but was seeded #7 overall

   #10 charlotte would be round of 16 opponent if seeds hold

#2 Wake Forest is the top seed in this pod of 12 teams

I think the Zips got a great draw. They are home against one of the worst at-large teams and they are in the 7/10 bracket. It could've been much worse.

That is terrible.  To do that to the season ticket holders is wrong. I will be voicing my opinion.

Larry Williams needs to go back to Marquette.   Huge difference between basketball and soccer at the Univ. of Akron.

Not to get ahead of ourselves but per IU's website the game in Bloomington on Sunday would start at 1pm.  Can't find any info on webcast at the moment.  With the 1pm start and 5ish hour drive it sets up well for a day trip.

and to show my poor knowledge of soccer, it says that goncalo is playing midfield in 3-4-3....yesterday, I said that he was doing well as a right DB

what ever works.....works....for me....Goncalo and Nick are doing well in the new formation
