Lots of Zips goals...5 (including a goal by our 2nd team) A brace by Sam Gainford First career assists for David Egbo and Joao Moutinho First career goals by David Egbo and Jackson Crawford A goal by Nick Hinds who looks to be getting back to form...so happy for NIck A PK save by Ben Lundt A team save by Manel Cordiero...so awesome to see Manel step in and take care of business A clean sheet by Ben Lundt and team Great job Zips. ZipsVoice Posted September 24, 2017 Report Share Posted September 24, 2017 This was soooo good to experience, although Z.I.P., you can keep this heat in Aloha-land! The Zips looked strong and organized early on, and when Sam got #1 it was like the demons were released from all the road matches. Egdo was a madman out there, and I agree with ME that Nick looked back in match fitness. Should have been a PK for the Zips that was waived off too. Cordiero's save came at a very opportune time to save the momentum we had picked up. And Ben's save was such a great guess/reaction. This really sets up Wednesday night vs MSU well. Stayed and watched the women, and it was another L for great bunch of kids. Friday night they played a great second half to get back in their match with NIU, and today they held Western Michigan to no shots on goal in the first half, and kept it to 1 shot on goal until the 72 minute, then back to back Bronco goals in 5 minutes put this one in the L column. Only 100 people there, wish some of the men's fans would have stuck around for a little support, but oh well....They are still a better team than their record shows, just VERY young. Sorry to read but not surprised they faltered in the 2nd half. Need to play more through balls diagonally on the ground. Fitness seems to be an overall issue. Good News is that I enjoyed watching and will return. He loves the international flavor of the starters. He wondered how it was possible for the men to win the MAC so many times and the women to never win it? Seems hard to believe. I think we are playing up the #1 to try to get as big a crowd as possible. I am bringing 2 MSU grads with me on Wednesday so hopefully the Zips come out on top!
