Gimme a break!  It is most obvious that fknbuflobo identifies as a cis male.  For Pete's sake!

The beard may have indicated a bit as well.  You never really know these days.

Great job ZipsVoice!  Keep up the strong work.  Just yanking your chain a bit.

(Those Arsenal boxing gloves are hanging from my rear view mirror.)

Bring on Marshall.

Finish things off at home next week and weekend....then March on to Kalamazoo.  Then hopefully at least one home NCAA match....American football tomorrow against Buffalo....11:30 kickoff...good night lads and lasses....

There are conceivable if not likely scenarios where Zips get two NCAA matches.

So....For you experts on MAC Soccer.....When the heck was the last time that Akron did NOT host the MAC Tournament?

No chance we can still host?

Last time the Zips were not the regular-season Mac Champs was in 2004. WMU was the regular-season champion that year as the Zips also lost a 1-0 game to them (but beat them 6 to 1 in the championship game at Kalamazoo we can only hope history repeats itself). Zips could still win the MAC but we'll have to beat NIU and have WMU lose and tie at best against SIU tomorrow and BGSU next week. If WMU beats SIU tomorrow the regular-season championship goes to WMU no matter what.

That doesn't seem to agree with this as far as regular season champion...http://www.mac-sports.com/documents/2015/8/27/2015_Men_s_Soccer_Record_Book.pdf

zips move up to 10 in the rpi after last night

Pitt probably won't make the NCAA as they dropped to 8-9 last night as Va Tech crushed them 3-0

UNC, #1 in RPI beat Notre Dame 3-0

Syracuse, another former zip opponent, was 0-6-1 in ACC before last night...they are now 0-6-2 after tieing Wake Forest 0-0 (Wake is #2 in RPI and had been 7-0-0 in ACC)

ken Lolla's Louisville team is now #4 in RPI after a 2-1 win over Clemson.  Clemson is 4-4 in the ACC...but they are #6 in the nation in RPI

Kentucky was MAC RSC in 2003 and 2004.  Huh.

I wish Kentucky would return to the MAC.  That could easily happen, you know.

How is it that in 2006, a 13-5-1 record was not good enough for an AL NCAA berth?

RPI rules...not wins. Who were the 13 wins against?

Right.  And more is the pity.  RPI is an anachronistic and deeply flawed system.

http://www.bigsoccer.com/threads/2017-rpi-calculations.2068278/

I am reminded by Gaucho Dan that the bonus system for RPI changes from year to year.

Example:  In some years a home draw against a top 30 opponent is worth more than in other years.  In some years a home loss versus an opponent outside the top 50 is a 5 point penalty.  In other years, it is only a 3 point penalty.  Etc.

And the NCAA does not publish their formula.  How corrupt is that?  Gaucho Dan takes the NCAA RPI results and deduces their formula for that given year.  He cracks their code every year.  So, when you see 5 teams from ACC in the top 10 RPI, you needn't scratch your head.  It is that way because it is supposed to be that way.

Actually I was off on two counts I was using the men's soccer media guide and it does show those games were played in Kalamazoo but perhaps the MAC regular-season champ didn't host back then? And I also really overlooked the fact that the Zips did not win the MAC regular-season title in Caleb Porter's first year in 2006 so that was the last time the Zips didn't host not 2004. That's what I get for trying to do it on my phone ?

Thanks for your research habit, ZipME87 (again)!  This gives some interesting history of the evolution of MAC men's soccer and the teams that have dropped out over time.  For example, Central Michigan quit in '95; Miami in '99; EMU after that '99 season.  Did you know that Bob Bradley once coached at Ohio U?  He coached their club team while studying for his Masters in Athletic Admin. in the late 70s.
