This line-up is an actual PREDICTION.

It is not necessarily the squad I would field vs. Butler, but Coach Embick has proven smarter than I am (on several occasions).

I am pretty sure on the formation and system.

Is Marcel Zajac injured? I don't think I saw his name pop up in the preseason matches.

some great matchups friday night

Indiana vs. Wake Forest

Clemson vs. Creighton

Maryland vs. Washington

none better than the matchup at Cub Cadet Field

https://www.topdrawersoccer.com/college-soccer-articles/mens-weekend-preview:-feast-on-friday_aid44574

Below are five matches to track on Friday (all times listed EST).

No. 10 Butler at No. 2 Akron, 7 p.m. (Watch ESPN)

One of the last fall’s College Cup sides welcomes Butler to town in just one of several compelling matchups of note. The Zips brought back a handful of pieces – goalkeeper Ben Lundt, center back Daniel Strachan, forward David Egbo – but lost so much that even a loss or draw here is no reason for concern. Butler, which has sights set on another Big East crown. Brandon Guhl is going to be a handful up front, while Jared Timmer and Joe Moulden bring back stability and experience.

Prediction: Akron 1-1 Butler

That stinks - I hope he recovers soon.

Marcel is a great guy who will help when he returns. He has a broken right toe and is slated to return to practice in two weeks. Keep rooting for him.

Zajac had been poised for a monster junior season, potentially even his last as a Zip.  Let us see how his recovery goes.  He is a fine young man who has hit a spot of bad luck.  Get fit soon, Marcel!  Akron’s 2018 championship aspirations are inextricably linked to the health of Marcel Zajac’s toe.

Zips had more quality than Butler, but Bulldogs were more cohesive, organized, disciplined.

A very entertaining match, if not an expertly played one.

Too sloppy on both sides.

I think a few Zips personnel questions were answered vs. Butler.

DO NOT SLEEP on #18 Ivan Nikolic!  The east end crossbar is still ringing from his titanic blast!  He so reminds me of Stu.

Butler’s Louis Bulger took the penalty kick and buried it into the top-right corner.  huh?  Not a penalty...free kick from just outside the penalty area. Perfectly placed inside the upper right corner as I recall. Reminiscent of an Adam Najem special.

2-2 final was a good result for our young team. There's a lot to improve, but there was a lot that was good. David Egbo and Joe Korb stood out to me. Need to clean up our defensive play and transition through the midfield (passing). A beautiful shot from Ivan Nikolic just hit the crossbar and bounced down and out. Just a bit lower and that would have scored. Nice laser shot.

No panic here with this team. Of the 11 starters who played in the national semi-final only two started last night. Cohesion, chemistry, anticipation and comfort were not what they will be by mid-season. Jared has a great team to work with and is building it the right way. The Zips will be where we want them by the end of the season. Remember Butler returned 8 of last season's sweet sixteen starters plus one 2017 starter who was injured at mi-season. We played well against them and at times dominated. Nice job boys. kick NCSU's ass.
