TennZip Posted October 18, 2019 Report Posted October 18, 2019 I guess it is time to start this topic... probably the most important MAC league game of the year Western Michigan is quite good and they are at home last night, they traveled to Ann Arbor and got a win over the Big Ten Wolverines WMU is 1-0 in the league (a 3-1 win at West Vriginia) and they are 9-4 overall they are on 5 match winning streak their season 2-1 opening season loss at Butler 4-0 home win over Niagara 1-0 home overtime loss to DePaul 4-0 win at Green Bay 5-1 home win over Cincinnati 1-0 win at Michigan State 1-0 overtime loss at Virginia Virginia is 11-0-1 and ranked #1 in the country 4-3 home over time loss to Jesus "Chino" Perez and his Illinois Chicago teammates 1-0 win at Xavier 1-0 home win over Loyola Marymount (LMU was ranked 22 in the country at time of the match) 3-2 win at Oakland 3-1 win at W. Virginia 2-1 win at Michigan looks like video of Akron at WMU will be available on ESPN Plus 1 Quote
Zip_ME87 Posted October 18, 2019 Report Posted October 18, 2019 (edited) All MAC matches are important, but I agree that WMU is highest ranked MAC opponent at this time. Edited October 18, 2019 by Zip_ME87 Quote
fknbuflobo Posted October 18, 2019 Report Posted October 18, 2019 This is unquestionably the most important match of season - so far. Quote
Zip_ME87 Posted October 19, 2019 Report Posted October 19, 2019 (edited) My point was that the match v BUGS was just as important at the time. Please explain if you believe it was not. This match will be tough. WMU is very good (referring to their 2019 results and their current RPI). We can't afford to lose focus...100% full-time Akron Soccer effort required. Hopefully, a decent contingent of Zips Men's Soccer fans make their way to Kalamazoo tomorrow. It's a 2 pm match. Head up their by 9 am; be home by 9 pm. Nice Sunday drive. Please, those who can, let's do our part to support our team. I don't think this is an exact address, but 4502 Campus Dr, Kalamazoo, MI 49008 should get you close enough to find it. GO ZIPS!!! TennZip Posted October 20, 2019 Author Report Posted October 20, 2019 Carlo Ritaccio is not in the lineup today Quote
bigzipguy Posted October 20, 2019 Report Posted October 20, 2019 Asleep at switch!!!! 1-0 W. Mich 44' in!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 1 Quote
GoZips88 Posted October 20, 2019 Report Posted October 20, 2019 Zips knot it at 1 with 53" left in the half. 1 Quote
AyYo Posted October 20, 2019 Report Posted October 20, 2019 22 minutes left and we're looking much more the likely team to score, if there's a goal left in this match. Let's get the goal!! 1 Quote
bigzipguy Posted October 20, 2019 Report Posted October 20, 2019 Red card on Marco. Play for the tie now 1 Quote

AyYo Posted October 20, 2019 Report Posted October 20, 2019 Going to a 2nd OT with Akron looking good for being down a man. Let's find a goal! Quote
bigzipguy Posted October 20, 2019 Report Posted October 20, 2019 Unless they can get a run-out, ???? Quote
bigzipguy Posted October 20, 2019 Report Posted October 20, 2019 Down a man for well over 25 minutes, on the road, getting a draw - great job. Does anybody know if the second yellow on Marco was warranted? Quote
AyYo Posted October 20, 2019 Report Posted October 20, 2019 With Akron and WMU being probably the best two teams in the MAC and both being 1-0-1 with three games left, does anyone know what the tiebreaker would be if these two teams finished tied for 1st? Quote

Southern Illinois Edwardsville(SIU-E) is the league leader at 2-0-0 and they come to Akron Friday night Akron will have to play that game without Marco Milanese Carlo Ritaccio was not able to play today...not sure of his status for Friday SIU-E is a very good team. Jared is a great coach....and will have this team focused on one game at a time I am proud of this team. They had to play without a pre season all american at center back. They got kicked in the teeth at 44 seconds.... and battled back to tie it at half time they played 33 minutes a man down....against a team ranked #27 in RPI (and WMU had won at Michigan on Thursday night) these zips are fighting and battling proud of them 4 Quote
AyYo Posted October 20, 2019 Report Posted October 20, 2019 Coach Embick said on the recap video from the Twitter account that Carlo suffered an injury in training yesterday but should be back on Friday. Quote
