If you're unfamiliar with the game in general, it's a great way to get into it! I recommend parking in Lot #2 next to the JAR. Walk over to the stadium and grab a ticket. I'm not entirely clear on the prices for single games as a season ticket holder, but I think a reserved seat would be in the $20 range but others might know better. GA obviously cheaper, but a better view might be helpful. It should be a really fun environment tonight and beautiful weather, it'll be a great night! My favorite thing about soccer games is the feeling of connectedness with the University. The stadium is beautiful and sits smack in the middle of campus, and the student showing, though not what it used to be, is really cool to see, especially after a win. Enjoy! 1 Quote
Blue & Gold Posted October 9, 2021 Report Posted October 9, 2021 I enjoy getting there early and getting a seat behind the West goal. Great seats when the action is on your end. Quote
Zipmeister Posted October 9, 2021 Report Posted October 9, 2021 If you sit behind the goal where the visiting team is warming up and they kick a ball into the seats (don't be an idiot and not) return it to them promptly. Quote

zipsfan33 Posted October 10, 2021 Author Report Posted October 10, 2021 Thanks everyone. We went, enjoyed the game (kinda...) and made memories with the kids. In the end its all good. Definitely still learning the game, but we will be back! I was super impressed with the guy at the ticket window giving my kids free tickets! Go Zips! 4 Quote

Assuming it was Nate Newhouse? Great guy! Glad you enjoyed, they will certainly have better performances down the line. They host Penn State this coming Wednesday! Quote

I hope you're correct that we will have better performances down the line. I had high hopes for this season but have been disappointed thus far in games such as this one. We can still get hot and go on a nice run, but so far we've seen on and off play rather than progression. It doesn't seem we put our players in the best position to be successful. I don't know how much of that comes from player unavailability due to injury or player loyalty. Coaching decisions are tough, but the best players should play where they are most effective. Quote

Gotcha, both Adam and Nate are tremendous! And while the season hasn’t gone exactly as planned, this team has as much potential as any Akron team has and I’m very excited for future challenges! Quote

Me, too! This team is loaded with individual talent. I know it's young, and I may be expecting too much, but last night was hard to take. Folks can say it was one game, but it was 1 of only 6 MAC games (17% of the MAC schedule), and it was at home. I've been to Northern Illinois; it's a tough place to play even when they are bad. N Ill beat WVU 2-0 yesterday. WMU is not an easy place to play either. BUGS looks strong this year. They will be a tough challenge, and you can bet their fans will show up in droves given their success this year, including the "2020 Season". That one may feel more like a BG home match if we don't match their turn out. There is no given that we will be one of the top 4 MAC regular season teams. Squandering a MAC home match is ugly! 1 Quote

You're one of our soccer "go-to's" and you just made this feel like the Football thread! 😉 You're not wrong though. Need to iron some things out or we're going to be on the outside looking in again this year and that's rough when we now EXPECT to be playing for the College Cup year in and year out. 1 1 Quote
