Just really difficult to deal with no more Zips soccer this year, I know Covid and injuries last several years have husrt. but??????????????????. What has happened is that we are just not as tough at home as before. I mean W. Mich is just not a GOOD SOCCER TEAM THEY REALLY ARE NOT

What makes it worse for me is that it is not like we were never ranked in the top 25. I posted in an earlier thread that Georgia state loss at home could cause us pain later. IT DID!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! GEORGIA STATE IS NOT GOOD EITHER.

Zips still tried too many air balls , though they were better in 2nd half. They wore down. Seemed to get frustrated at times on the ground game. When western played BG last week , the Falcons played a man down for approx 30 minutes, and western still could not win(1-1) tie, READ IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WESTERN IS NOT GOOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Is the season over?  I think we were #20 in RPI before the game and will drop some but not sure how far.  48 teams get in right?  I know it might be odd that you aren’t in the top 4 of the conference tournament but still get in to the NCAA but it could happen.

You can’t count the 2020 Season that took place in Spring 2021…the team was ravaged by COVID.

But, 0-7 to start 2019, and only 1 road win this season…ugh!!! The 💩 show at blOSU and then whatever this was today are just inconceivable!!! WVU was a much better opponent, and the Zips shut them down. How does this team give up 4 goals v WMU? Where were our Zips?!!!

“Do Or Die!” This is a hyperbolic and overused, even tired, saying . Cliche.  But should Zips find a way to lose this match, much of what Akron Zips MSOC is and has been will be no more.  It is time to play with Passion, with Purpose, and with Pride.

Z

I bought a nice A-Roo flag to fly from my front porch.  I think the year was 2003, but not sure.  Every year, the flag goes up once I attend a Zips practice, which usually occurs in July.  The flag comes down the day the Zips are eliminated.  This flag has never been put away this early in the year.  Never. Never.  Hell, High School Soccer is still playing.  This is beyond unacceptable.

Should I really hold out hope for an NCAA at-large bid?  Seriously?

Three years outside of the NCAA post season means the mystique is gone.  Dead.  It is part of the past.  I will not tolerate anyone talking about the Akron Way, or We Are Akron, or any of that pitiful shite.  DON'T WANT TO HEAR IT!!!!!!!!!!   Soccer Kings?  My Hairy Ass!

Jared, Ger, and Mikey, et al had better ask some really hard questions of themselves and of each other.  Are you guys still up to the challenge?!?  We can no longer say that we need to do the things we have always done, but just do them better.  NO!  Root Cause Corrective Action DEMANDS that new action be taken.  We need a paradigm shift.  What are the new ideas?  What will you do differently?  Not better, differently!

Good points. Here is another item. I know you kids will sometimes say things in heat of a competition or afterwards, even adults do. BUT , after we beta BG 5-1, I stuck around for the 'I believe' chant. Before it was said , one of the Zips players s yelled  " (blank) B.G."  Their players were still near their bench . Well guess what : They are going to the MAC tournament, we are not. They have a chance to go the NCAA'S , we do not.

Out of Likes.  No Akron players should ever be yelling such things, win or lose.  That's MY job!  Zips players should compete, but with dignity and respect.  And yeah, Falcons are laughing last on that account.

Remember the days when we hated that the MAC Tournament, because it would hurt our RPI?

I’m afraid a no longer warranted arrogant attitude has permeated Zips Mens Soocer.

Not good! 🤢

During that 🦨 2019 season, I never imagined we could go lower. Not making the MAC Tourney is lowest of low. Embarrassing.

Did arrogance set in after the convincing 5-1 win over B.G.????

Unfortunately, I think it has been here for a long time and has not been warranted in sometime. definitely wasn’t warranted during 2019 or even 2018 regular season.

Great postseason run 2018 but not good regular  season.  Of course, how you finish a season means more than how you start.

I don’t want to hear any excuses about having a tough MAC schedule with the final 2 games on the road.

Had our Zips taken care of business AT HOME v Georgia State, we would be in the 2021 MAC Tournament. No excuse for losing that game. Georgia State had to play us with the same small turnaround time, and they were on the road!

Was it not a smaller turnaround time?  As my feeble mind recalls, Georgia State played at Bowling Green on Thursday and then beat us on Saturday.  Correct?

Akron played Southern at 7 thursday and State played at BG at 7 thursday

turnaround was the same for State at Akron Saturday at 7

State used a lot of subs on Saturday.  Akron used very few subs

Akron's record would have been worse ...than 9-5-3......if they had a balanced home/road schedule

Akron was fortunate to play 11 at home and 6 on the road

If Akron has to play Pitt, Indiana, Penn State and Michigan on the road in 2022, Akron is going to have to figure out quickly how to play better on the road.

Jared has done a great job over the years. But whatever it is , Zips just don't get in done one the road last several years, of course the Road win over stanford in 2018 was impressive.

Found a way to win on the road at tourney time in 2018.

2019 and 2021 different story.
