RWB – DEANDRE YEDLIN – 9 (MAN OF THE MATCH)

Yedlin is my man of the match. His play high up the pitch and creativity brought tons of stress on the Charlotte defenders to cover space was promising. It is really hard to believe Yedlin has only been with the squad for just over three weeks. The way he can read his teammates’ movements and anticipate what runs to make is a credit to his soccer IQ. The back-heel assist to spring Aaron Boupendza’s game-tying goal was a thing of beauty. Yedlin read what Sergio Santos was doing and drew the eyes of the entire Charlotte backline, giving Boupenza a wide-open net.

TST (the 7v7 soccer version of the TBT basketball tournament) starts tomorrow. I haven’t checked all the teams, but I did see that both Adam Najem and Luke Holmes will be playing for a team called Pasha Luxury FC. They have two group stage games tomorrow and one Thursday.

 

i wouldn’t be surprised if there are a few other Zips playing on other teams as well. If I see anything about those I’ll post.

Congratulations to Richie Laryea and the Canada Mens national team for defeating Venezuela in the Copa America Quarterfinals

Canada will play world number 1 Argentina in the semis on Tuesday night.

Richie played 71 minutes.   I thought that Richie played a fantastic game.   Richie made 2 passes that Cyle Larin could have converted into goals.    Richie also intercepted a pass and led a 2 on 2 break.    I will look for player ratings tomorrow....but I felt that Jacob Shaffelburg, Alphonse Davies and Richie were Canada's 3 best players tonight.
