It looks to me like it's only 4 teams, but it's been 8 in past years. Bumping up my own reply since no one answered. 😂 I don't see any info about a Quarterfinal anywhere. It appears that only 4 make the tournament this year? Quote

I answered that question earlier in the day. My question for others on the board. For the 4 team Big East tournament, will they take the top 2 teams from the East and the top 2 teams from the Midwest? Or will they take the 4 teams with the highest point totals? Right now, the highest point totals have 4 teams from the East in the top 5 1. Seton Hall and Georgetown 7 points tie for 3rd. Creighton, UConn and Providence 6 points Quote

Zip_ME87 Posted October 4 Report Posted October 4 (edited) I deleted my original reply because I was told this evening that the BE Tourney has changed and is only 4 teams this year. I have not found a link to that info but understand it is the top team from each division and the next two regardless of division. Edited October 12 by Zip_ME87 1 Quote

As Big East opponents, the Zips have fared very poorly on the road at Xavier. 2023 - a very frustrating 0-0 tie in regular season. And then, a very painful season ending loss in the Big East Conference quarterfinals...1-0 loss at Xavier in 2023. Xavier's pitch is not the best. The zips need to step on their throats early and compete for 90 minutes. 3 points are a must on Saturday afternoon. 1 Quote

Zips1991 Posted 4 hours ago Report Posted 4 hours ago (edited) Does anyone know what the tiebreaker is if two teams finish on the same number of points and draw their head-to-head matchup? Could come into play for the division title if Akron beats Marquette, Seton Hall beats Creighton, and Akron/Creighton draw in the final match. Also, does anyone know the tiebreaker for a three way tie when the three teams didn't all play each other? Could come into play for the 4th seed as Akron. Providence, and UConn are all tied at 10 pts right now. Obviously, it could all change after the next set of games but just curious. Edited 4 hours ago by Zips1991 Quote

Could come into play for the division title if Akron beats Marquette, Seton Hall beats Creighton, and Akron/Creighton draw in the final match. I went to the Big East site. I could only find a tiebreaker that related to basketball. If you go to the Link below..... and use your scenario.....I think that the zips would be in good shape... Assumes that Georgetown finishes first Seton Hall would have 15 ...if they beat Creighton next week (their last game is UConn) if Seton Hall finishes 2nd in the league, Akron would win that tiebreaker ....as Akron tied Seton Hall and UConn lost to them if UConn wins out against Butler and Seton Hall, they would finish 2nd with 16 points Seton Hall would end with 15 UConn has wins over Creighton and Akron so tiebreaker would then move to how the teams did against Seton Hall Providence could reach 16 points...with wins against DePaul and Georgetown neither Akron or Creighton played Providence....so again, it would come down to how the teams did against Seton Hall... unrelated to the tiebreakers, Marquette destroyed DePaul 4-1 tonight. https://cdn2.sbnation.com/assets/4092617/tiebreaker-procedure_1_.pdf Each team’s record vs. the team or tied teams occupying the highest position in the standings. • If an advantage is not determined, proceed to the next team or group of tied teams in the standings for comparison. Continue down through the standings until one team gains an advantage Quote
