Captain Kangaroo Posted April 13, 2007 Report Posted April 13, 2007 Click for Story on Toledo RB Apparently Practicing the Shotgun FormationHe's from Warren...was he also packing any of this during the rampage?Scooter McDougal, Ray Williams and now Davis. Toledo really DOES have a lot of depth at RB. But who would want it? Quote
InTheZone Posted April 13, 2007 Report Posted April 13, 2007 Kinda funny that the dufus showed up at a sheriff's house. But also kind of fortunate.... no telling what might've happened had he had the right house. Quote
blueandgold Posted April 13, 2007 Report Posted April 13, 2007 It will be interesting to see what rocketfootball has to say about this one. Quote
msopher Posted April 13, 2007 Report Posted April 13, 2007 No excuses here...Toledo football looks pretty damn bad right now. Hate to say it, but it's not that surprising to see stuff like this happen under Amstutz's watch. Not advocating his firing or that he runs a dirty program, but these type of incidents are definitely not new. Quote
Zipmeister Posted April 13, 2007 Report Posted April 13, 2007 One of the worst parts of being a college coach must be trying to convince people who don't belong in college to enroll at theirs. Quote
skip-zip Posted April 13, 2007 Report Posted April 13, 2007 Wow. I can't argue with the Maurice Clarett comparisons. Very Interesting. Quote
rocketfootball Posted April 14, 2007 Report Posted April 14, 2007 Scooter and Davis have made some really stupid decisions and it is really hurting the University's image because of it.As for Ray Williams, I wouldn't go there. He was NEVER on the UT roster. He asked to walk-on twice, was denied the first time and allowed to practice with the team on Fridays and Saturdays in the spring the second time but was never officially on a UT roster and he was NOT on the team last fall before his incident at the bookstore. He was never recruited by UT and never on scholarship. And further, Ray Williams had two options for college after his arrest. He had to stay in Ohio and two schools said they would take him in, most likely because of open enrollment. Those two schools were Toledo and Akron. That's right, Akron. You guys were just lucky enough that he chose Toledo instead. So please don't confuse Ray Williams with UT football and scholarship players. Now, that said. UT needs to do something to take care of these issues, and they need to do something fast. Who knows what will become of Scooter-gate and who knows what this Richard Davis thing is all about. One rumor among some is that it actually has to do with Scooter, but I hate spreading rumors that could be completely wrong. Either way, Toledo needs to nip this in the butt. But I am still a diehard Rocket fan and I always will be. I've been a diehard Rocket fan through good times and bad times and I know that UT will get past this just like any other program in the country have been able to do when they had issues happen. rocketfootball Posted April 14, 2007 Report Posted April 14, 2007 Wow. I can't argue with the Maurice Clarett comparisons. Very Interesting. Well they both came from Warren, OH and all, but MO had more than one incident and is clearly insane. Davis may only be one of the biggest dumb asses in the world and not actually insane. Quote
zipboy Posted April 14, 2007 Report Posted April 14, 2007 rocketfootball,Any heat on Amstutz? I would not think so given his past record but if another blow up occurs, is he on the hot seat? Quote
Blue & Gold Posted April 15, 2007 Report Posted April 15, 2007 Toledo and Akron are both building their programs to compete with mid and lower level BCS schools. We both are building Top 25 caliber rosters. But, with those high goals, both of our programs have accepted a few players of incredible talent but questionable character. Oh, well. What are we gonna do? We simply can't be as selective as OSU, Texas, USC or Florida. We would have probably been thrilled if he would have enrolled at Akron and then we'd be the program w/ red faces. Hopefully Toledo can clean things up a bit. Quote
rocketfootball Posted April 16, 2007 Report Posted April 16, 2007 rocketfootball,Any heat on Amstutz? I would not think so given his past record but if another blow up occurs, is he on the hot seat? Some fans seem to be upset with him based on last year's 5-7 season (first losing season in 13 years) and also because he seems to be a bit soft on discipline with the players. That said, I really don't believe he is anywhere near the hot seat in the athletic diretor's eyes, nor the president's eyes. Another bad season and more off the field issues would start warming up the seat, but not right now. Quote
