You know before the game during warmups, we (the rowdies) were shouting Let's Go Zips and CJ looked at us and was doing the pump up the volume wave with his arms he was pumped partly because of us and partly because of the Can't motivation. He is a great guy and I like what we're building with the pride for Akron. Lots of the basketball team was there which is always a good sign. :screwks::champs::cheers:

I was just thinking there ought to be a secure window/showcase near the entrance to the new stadium for the wagon wheel. Where do we display it currently, in the JAR or student union? It should be somewhere that the students would see it regularly (and its glaring absence in those rare cases when we let Can't borrow it) to build spirit/rivalry. MACC trophies as well. Maybe there's already a plan for a trophy case in the stadium but I don't recall hearing of one...anybody know?

It presently resides in the reception area of the coach's offices.

Another squandered marketing opportunity :nono:

I agree, but that doesn't mean it has to stay that way.Someone should at least float the idea of an inset case on the new stadium that faces exchange street or by that giftshop/ticket office area near the entrance. When the wheel is here, it could be lit with floods. When it is gone, the case could go dark, as a ominous and somber motivation to set things right.

I don't think so. There are hundreds of recruits who pass through those offices within the year between K.e.n.t. games (many on facility tours held during camps @ Stiles). Many of those kids are considering MAC schools...often UA and K.e.n.t. It is a nice first Zips impression when they walk into the room.Furthermore, the coaches and players actually won the thing*...and they should be able to enjoy it on a daily basis. It is also a good off-season incentive...you don't want to be responsible for a bare office wall come October 5th 2008.* Yes, it could also be argued that bumbling, hapless choke-riddled K.e.n.t. "gave" it to us in 2007 ;)

Good points but I still wish it could be more visible to the student body and public to put Zip football in their minds. The recruits could still see it in the student union on their campus tours as could the players (assuming they are going to classes and spending time on campus). The coaches should be plenty motivated by their paycheck$ and future job prospect$. As a compromise it could share time at different locations and even make appearances at area malls, bars, restaurants, etc. On game days it should be somewhere near a stadium entrance or the team shop.
