I know its a little bit away, but any early early speculation on who will be coming to the JAR...and if this team keeps playing the way they are, could there be any possibilty of having maybe a butler come to the JAR
It is too soon to speculate. A loss to OU and/or K.e.n.t. and we'll get a marginal opponent. Miami, OU and K.e.n.t. would get the best opponents under that scenario. If we keep our loss total at three or four @ selection time, I would expect to get someone like Butler or a top MVC program...which would be awesome.

Ultimately, I thought the Austin Peay game was ok last year. It was nice to have smashed a team that played in the postseason, though it wasn't enough. If the Zips take care of business, and are sitting with 2 or less conference losses, I'm thinking they'll get a likely NCAA team in here. And that will help the resume when that team boards the bus with a loss.

If I'm not mistaken, they usually use RPI and geography to determine the matchups.I searched the web real quick and found this PDF with the home vs. road teams. The best matchups would obviously be George Mason, Drake, Creighton, Nevada etc... But VCU or Wright St. seem more realistic.http://www.tribeathletics.com/files/mbb/20...cketbusters.pdfI also found this link to the Holy Cross message baord, where someones been doing RPI based projections. He has the Zips playing Illinois st. or Virginia Commonwealth as of 1/7.http://s2.excoboard.com/exco/thread.php?fo...6404&page=2

Maybe even another ranked team, e.g. Xavier?
Alas, A-10 teams do not participate -- although you wouldn't know it from watching the ESPN analysts who have them rated in some sort of "ESPN Mid-Major poll". Gonzaga also does not play -- they're too sweet smelling for the rest of us. BUT, having seen St Mary's, I expect them to be top-25 by the time the BB arrives. They'll beat GU at least once this year. And hey -- they kicked OU's arses.

I know it's been suggested already, but I have to reiterate how nice it would be if our wonderful conference paired up with the A-10 for some sort of deal like the ACC-Big 10 challenge. Alternate teams and venues (even on neutral sites?) every year. I think it would be good for both conferences and for the overall health of "Mid-Majors." And no matter what the A-10 says, they're a mid-major too.

Totally agree. I like the Big 10/ACC thing as well. Without looking at the current SOS numbers for conferences like the A10 and MVC, I would think it would help SOS and prep for the conference portion of the schedule for all MAC schools other than maybe an Ohio or Miami who had insane schedules this year.

Probably won't be Wright State. Its their year to play at home.

I agree a great idea but I don't see the A-10 or MVC playing the MAC. It is not much of a benefit to those leagues. One that makes sense is the Colonial, RPIs are almost identical, draw similar crowds, we don't play each other much now and geographically it would be easy to travel.
