How is the above-listed offense to be confused with over-darkened window tint? Did the police just fabricate the entire scenario? If so, Chev should sue and become a millionaire.

Maybe the over-darkened windows are the equipment violation. When I think equipment violation I think more in line with a tail light or something being out.

The Police can pull someone over for something like this and use it to get their foot in the door. Whether that was the initial intent of the law or not, it's the law. If the accusations are true, the bottom line is that he had drugs and a gun in the car. Doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that this is a bad idea. WARNING----RANT!Unfortunately, IMO, these laws are also passed with an additional, unwritten intent to leverage stereotyping and also to just plain raise money. If these laws were enforced uniformly, or for their actual intent, I wouldn't have a problem, but I'm a little PO'd at something that happened to me a few months back. I got pulled over and ticketed in Attica on the west side of the state. My major violation....my front license plate was in the front window, not on my bumper. Did it matter that I was in transition between Michigan (who requires no front license plate) and Ohio? No. But I'm sure the rear plate reading "Go Akron" was a dead giveaway that I wouldn't drive 6 hours round trip to contest the ticket! You would have thought I was a terrorist or something. The guy had 1000 questions for me and was convinced there was no way I could have actually purchased the car with my own money (I look way younger than I actually am). Did I break the law, yes. Did I pay the fine? Yep! Would have cost $40-$50 in gas just to get there and back, so no use in fighting it. Later that day, I did a little survey and counted 11 cars from Ohio in 15 minutes of driving on the freeway with no plate on the front. End of rant.

The Summit County Criminal Justice website does confirm that Mr. Pace did, in a negotiated plea agreement, plead guilty to the improper handling of a firearm in a motor vehicle and driving under suspension. He did receive a sentence of incarceration according to the agreement, but that was suspended by the Court so long as he complies with the conditions of his probation.Sorry to disagree with Mr. Pace's friend but he WAS charged initially with drug-related charges. The charges related to drugs were, in fact, dismissed by the prosecution. Just as stated by Dr. Z, I found the same info originally on the APD website. I do not think that anyone here pronounced judgment on Mr. Pace. Most were probably, like me, disappointed (and shell-shocked because of the timing of the situation in relation to another Zip athlete) to see something like that but most here a fair-minded. But I also stand by what was available to everyone on a public website. His exoneration on the drug-related charges also appears for all to see on a public website. In fact, since the initial arrest, I do not think that anyone here was "piling on" and simply awaited the final disposition of the case, as how now transpired. It is my sincere hope that Mr. Pace goes on with his life unscathed, is a productive member of society and is successful in his chosen endeavors.Go Zips!!

:D anyone remember what happened a couple of weeks ago in TWINSBURG!!!!????...show of hands, how many of you now carry a hangun in your vehicles?...now how many have a concealed carry permit...do you know what the law says you have to do IF you have the permit?...i am a parole officer...i have friends who are/were police officers...to a person they say one of there biggest fears is confronting someone who may be armed...the cops walk right into it without knowing and you get a situation like you had with Joshua Miktarian...why was pace carrying a gun in the first place?... and if drugs were involved in the arrest even if the idiot prosecutor agreed to a plea bargain the evidence becomes even more damning...the mere fact that the gun was 'available' to this guy heightened the risk that the situation escalates to an unintended level...what a great country...we can carry guns in our cars just for the hell of it if we want to..

Yes it is ..... Does anyone remember what happened to the Buchtel High Science (or Math) teacher on his way to school a couple of months ago??? A concealed carry and a gun in his car may or may not have saved his life.

I consider myself "liberal" (yeah those people that proposed and supported those "socialist" philosophies like Social Security, the GI Bill, etc). However, not all people, "defined" as such disagree with the concept of concealed carry permits.Carrying a gun in one's car is NOT the same as carrying a gun with a concealed carry permit, which I personally support. It assumes that a permit is sought, background checks are employed and there is training as to the use and care of the weapon that must be demonstated. The law prohibits the carrying of weapons into some environments (such as schools and drinking establishments).Unfortunately, many, many people have weapons and do not understand their potential impact. Statistically, guns in homes that ARE used are used against "loved" ones 90% of the time and not against intruders or home invaders. That is the sad reality. They are too accessible and too many hotheads have them and too many children have quick and easy access to them. That is not a "liberal" view, just reality. Go Zips!!

Those of us in the Libertarian Party will never give up our rights because people are scared. The people of this country have given up too many rights in recent decades.

Will you be voting for the liberal John McCain this election or the even bigger liberal Obama? There is almost no difference between the two guys. We are just going to exchange one liberal, Bush, for another liberal. We wouldn't be exchanging liberal for liberal if the Barr/Root ticket gets elected. Our liberty would be preserved instead of being put in jeopardy.

 a concealed carry allows you to carry in your car..the moron who shot the officer had previously violated the concealed carry law and should have had the permit revoked...he went out and bought the gun he used to execute(3 to the head) the police officer AFTER he violated the concealed carry law...by the way the concealed carry REQUIRES that you announce the fact that you have the gun if a cop stops you..got no problem if you want to keep a gun at home...LEARN HOW TO USE IT>>>LEARN HOW TO STORE IT and hope when that guy breaks in in the middle of the night you have enough wits about you to get to it...and use it properly...you will be surprised how hard that is for you people who have litt;e or no formal training...thats most of you!

Please, don't throw around phrases like "Statistically, guns in homes that ARE used are used against "loved" ones 90% of the time and not against intruders or home invaders." I know a LOT of people, even before I started target shooting, who had guns in the home, and you know what? They used them, and they weren't against people! That is simply ridiculous! The key point here is EDUCATION! Just like driving a car, people should be properly educated as to how to use, store, and care for a firearm. RESPONSIBILITY PEOPLE!!!! The idiots who keep the guns around the house in such a manner that their kids can get to them makes me crazy! I'm not going to go into a prolonged rant, but the bottom line is that the solution is NOT to take something away from the MANY people who use it responsibly, to protect against the FEW who use it irresponsibly. If this were a viable solution, then there should be A LOT of people banned from ever touching money again! Financial irresponsibility is hurting ALL OF US right now and I, as a responsible person, have been beaten up pretty badly as a result! :wall:
