  1. I'm not discussing this any more. We have a divide on this board and until someone from the staff is forthcoming about our quarterback situation, all discussion is mere conjecture. It is a shame that the feel-good 2014 season has been derailed and that our discourse has devolved into anger and combativeness between fans of the same team.

  2. Here are a few recruiting-related tidbits I recently stumbled across. Jacob Harrison, the 2016 QB recruit was offered early after a standout performance at the Zips summer Camp. Milwee apparently loves him, and Jacob likes the opportunity to be a passing QB in such an air-centric offense. Donterio Fowler and Jason Williams are both in Prep Schools and expected to enroll at UA next year. Matt Blaha, the 6' 4" 365 lb OL prospect recently spotted on the Zips sideline, is indeed walking-on with the Zips. Jerry Klue, the Medina/Northwestern DB...we hardly knew ye. He has already left the team. The "soft verbal" of Ronnie Hoggins is more porous than ever. Don't expect to see him in a Zips uniform. Shipman, Dixon, Dunkleberger and Jan Johnson remain solid verbals. The confirmed transfer list for the 2015 season includes: Jamal Marcus (Ohio State) TreVon Chapman (Ashland/Pitt) Larry Hope (Miami Fl) Rodney Coe (Iowa State) Donnell Alexander (Colorado State) Demarco Haynes (5' 8", 160lb WR - Northern Michigan) AJ Coney (Weber State) Travonte Junius is a 2015 grey shirt, as is K'von Wilson. Look for 6' 4" TE Josh McNeil at Tuesday night's BGSU game. This well-traveled, highly-recruited TE will be having an official visit with the Zips. Hopes are high that he'll be in the Blue and Gold next fall. BJ Bonner is another recruit high on the Zips list. Lunch time's over. Apologies up front for any typos. More updates will follow!

  3. People keep saying they "know" things when they don't really know. They've heard or read something that may or may not be entirely accurate, make an assumption based on that and ignore conflicting information that also may or may not be correct. There's a lot of erroneous information floating around that's assumed to be factual when in fact it is not.

  4. So allegedly, there is some sort of football game coming up next Tuesday in which first place for the division is on the line. Anyone heard about this?

  5. So you actually think that Bowden was asked a question about putting Kyle in the game and he answered the way he did instead of simply saying that he was not ready to go medically or that they were exercising extra caution with a head injury? You have drank the Kool-Aid. I guess the answer will come out in good time and I am perfectly willing to admit I am wrong at any time, but something certainly smells fishy here.

  6. I didn't "take my shot" as the beginning of the season could be dicey with so many inexperienced players appearing to having a shot at either starting or playing significant minutes. From what I've heard, Tree is becoming a leader as are some youngsters. Practices have been serious, competitive and productive with some of the drama missing that was present the last couple of years. I'm also hearing that the team is more in tune with "team" as well. KD and staff are very good at infusing new faces without losing his veterans due to their having to give up some floor time. IF this team stays healthy, plays defense like their physical abilities would suggest they can and rebounds with passion, I agree with the predicted MAC East regular season Championship. I'd love to be in attendance for an Akron vs Toledo MAC Championship in several months. Looking forward to seeing this group perform!

  7. You mean the ZN.o local report that Pohl is questionable because, even though he's healthier than a tea-totaling vegetarian, the coach doesn't believe he represents the Bowden Ball brand as well as the backup QB who throws lots of interceptions and loses games but better represents the Bowden Ball brand that is built on the concept of losing now and maybe winning at some undetermined point in the future, causing Bowden Ball futures to tank among speculators who rely on insider trading information from people who know people who know people?

  8. Good job tonight by the Zips scoring 5 unanswered goals vs CSU. Kudos to Adam Najem on his hat trick and Clint Caso for his leadership. I believe Clint was the only player besides GK Jake Fenlason to play all 90 minutes. Congrats to Andrew Souders on his first collegiate goal. Keep it going Zips. We need that win at NIU. Remember, anything easy isn't worth a darn. I know this Zips team has the talent to win out the remainder of the season if they put their minds to it and grind it out.

  10. From your mouth to God's ears. But you are overly optimistic.

  11. I hope this week mainly consists of the Zips offense practicing how to beat zone coverage. Use the 20 yard hole on the sideline. Run hard sharp curls. Use D'orazio to catch the ball instead of clearing. Use motion. If we practice that, we can win. If the Zips run the same plays as the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th quarter like last week against the zone...it won't matter if Hoyer is the QB. Any receiver that runs a curl Tuesday and doesn't come back to the ball should be benched immediately. Effective running plays can help dictate the coverage also. See Pitt game.

  12. Sometimes I look at what goes on in and around sports and I get fed up with it all. Then I learn of someone like Coach Peters and I am reminded that there is more good than bad, and what is good is so much better. Prayers go out to his family and friends.

  13. First of all let me say that when Ball State says the tailgating lots open 3 hours before the game that's what they mean. We couldn't get in until 11 A.M. When we entered, they parked us at the opposite end as the rest of our fans, so we actually had to exit the lot, go around the block and enter from the other side. Once we finally got through the initial hassle, we had a pretty darn nice tailgate. Ball State had an impressive group of people set up. The best I have ever seen at a MAC game. A lot of them must have stayed in the lot because the crowd in the stadium did not reflect the tailgating action. There was a nice mix of students and alumni comingling with each other. The local radio station was there with their mobile studio broadcasting "Ball State Live". Overall great atmosphere. We were quite impressed and envious. 14. My son was devastated yesterday when he heard the news about coach Pete. When ever he would see my son with me, Pete would always take the time to have a meaningful conversation and answer any questions he had about coaching the Zips. Most coaches are somewhat guarded in what the will say but not coach Pete. Always a smile and a positive attitude. A big loss to our program.

  15. @Station14, you are correct. In soccer, they go by points. 4-1 Zips would have 12 points. 3-0-2 WMU would have 11 points. Zips would host MAC Tourney in that scenario. Of course this scenario also assumes we don't pee our shorts vs Northern Illinois or Buffalo. It sucks that we no longer control our own destiny and have to rely on BG or WVU for help. Ask the Portland Timbers how great it was to win their game Saturday only to have Vancouver also win and take the last playoff spot. @SwitchIt: Sparks flying in the film session is not as impactful as standing on the field immediately following a loss in front of fans, friends and family and not being able to go enjoy your evening with your girl for comfort right away. There needs to be some fear of losing for motivation. Even without colorful language, I'm sure "the circle" is something the players would be motivated to avoid. As far as missing Richie, this is not the beginning of the season. These guys better darn well know by now how to step it up to fill in for 1 guy no matter what position against a crap team like WMU. This is D1 NCAA soccer, not pre-teen academy. I'm not as upset by the mistake of giving up the goal as I am by how much of the game was played in front of our own goal/on our half of the field and that we had no shots on goal until around the 80th minute. Totally unacceptable. Also unacceptable that Jake seemed to be the only player directing anything. Where the heck were our captains and upper class players? That should have been corrected at half time. The HC can't be the players buddy. That's for assistants. The HC needs to call out his players and remind his captains and upper classmen they have a responsibilty to lead.
