  1. Say what you want, but this, to me, is the ole square peg in the round hole scenario with Pohl Pohl is not the QB for this system .... Not that he is a bad kid (don't know enough), but he is not a leader and certainly does not have the swagger and confidence to direct "Bowden ball" ........ Thus square peg and round hole. There was talk that Pohl should transfer .... Agreed and if he can get another year and find a school, Bowden should help foster that (and may be for all I know) If Woodson is the future (not enough knowledge of the other QB's) .... Then I believe Coach Bowden has to make that decision and roll the dice now. Some thoughts: Not sure if Bowden has the trust in his offensive assistants ..... Defense has a vision (Identity) and a great mix of experienced position coaches and young GA's ..... Offense has a philosophy (Bowden ball), but no execution or personnel to perform at the level of the defense. Defense was on point until late when the were pretty tired and beaten down ..... If offense doesn't catch up to the defense level of play, going to potentially be internal team issues, Not educated yet on the young guys on the roster, but it's kind of obvious that the recruiting focus needs to be on the offensive side of the ball. I believe there may be a couple of transfers on offense (skill positions) that will have a couple years of time of UA, and the O-line needs to be established ... As I know more of the defensive side, the recruits and transfers coming on in defense fit the defensive identity (SEC type), the sophs and jrs this year have bought in. I think they will be in pretty nice shape. Need to get some bigger corners if possible, some pretty long receivers coming up in the conference Strength and conditioning program has been turned over .... More of a lean, quick and physical athlete. More SEC styled if that makes sense. Coach Stoud's philosophy (as the Director) is completely different than in the past and Coach Gildy and his staff are young with great backgrounds in winning programs (Mt Union and Oklahoma) .... An aspect that is every bit as important, but never discussed or considered. Facilities are top notched (for program size) and they are spending on strength and conditioning (all the way through the sports performance/training program) ..... again maybe not considered unless brought to point Third year of the five year plan ( 1-11, 5-7, 7-5 (6-6) ........ ) Obviously not where we as fans want to be ( or most of you as Veteran fans), but seems right on track For me (as I understand myself), ....as a fan I'm disappointed because of the way we have lost these games, not that we lost them. You have got to beat the teams that you should beat (at any level), and rise up to the level of the opponent in the big games and compete. As a parent of a kid coming into the program, it is still exciting as Bowden is right on track thus far in the plan he laid out to us .... Record shows the progress, 2014 and 2015 recruiting classes seem to be an upgrade, still need the transfers for the next couple of years. Just a different perspective ........ To say have patience is a joke to you veterans I know, but that's what it's going to take If we can say, we "should have won the game", then we can agree that it is a better position than a few years back when that was the hope and not the expectation ( As I understand from you all ) ........ LOL Keep the faith

  2. Pohl is a good QB. No, he is not a superstar and not as good as Ray Bentley was talking him up last night. However, if you look at his passes. most were catchable balls in good location. The first int in the end zone was obviously a communication issue. The second one should have been caught. it was in place for the WR to get it. Unfortunately our WR are of high school quality. The Int always goes on the QB stats, but often it is not their fault. The o-line can't block, the running backs don't run, and the WR can't catch. Pohl may not be a superstar, but he is really the least of our worries. He is more than just a game manager. What I am surprised most by is that he never runs anymore. IIRC, he used to be more of a dual threat QB that could run some. Obviously the staff has taken that away.

  3. Completely agree. That play absolutely killed us. Knapke's recievers were dropping the ball all night too, but he managed to throw zero interceptions. The offense has been the liability as to why we lose games the past two years. The defense is what has willed us to those victories, not the "outstanding" play of our QB. Pohl locks into unopened receivers and guns it to them. Pohl looked much better than Woodson, I'll give you that, but he's not the phenomenal QB you make him out to be. We need a QB who can will the offense to win games, not throw into coverage at critical points of the game.

  4. So, ignoring the umbrella issue (most reasonable people accept the fact that 99-cent ponchos are as good or better at keeping fans dry without blocking the views of others) and the uniforms issue (paid for by a donor), what legitimate issues are left in the original post to discuss beyond general venting about watching your team lose in bad weather in a season that still might produce the first .500 or better season in a decade?

  5. I did not arrive until 4:45, but I had a pretty nice abbreviated tailgate last night. First of all, let me say that JZ84 can whip up a mean batch of poutine. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Poutine Delicious and much appreciated. Although the beer list was small compared to a Saturday game, the quality could not have been any finer. We had another home brew to try, this one from the brewery "Ol Dirty Basement". Fall Jacket was an English Brown with pumpkin pie spices that was quite tasty. Awesome job brewing your first batch, Heather. My friend Zipgrad01 hooked me up with a crowler of Willoughby's Peanut Butter Cup Coffee Porter. This is one of my favorite beers and it tasted and poured as if we had a keg of it right there in Lot 9. First crowler ever for me. For those unfamiliar: As if that wasn't enough of a treat, I also got the opportunity of a lifetime to try Westvleteren 12. Yes. The beer that has occupied the very top of many best beer lists. It lived up to the hype. I have to thank our friend Shawn for being generous enough to share some with his fellow Zip fans. This is one of the greatest things about following the Zips. The depth of friendships that we have fostered over beer, food and love of the Zips is incredible. Our small community is the most caring, sharing group of people you could ever be around and being able to look back at all the good times we've had will keep you smiling all week. Wouldn't trade my tailgating friends for anything. Thanks to all of you. 6. You could...but it would be a really poor argument. Frye will collect an NFL pension. Pohl will not sniff an NFL camp.

  7. I did a quick google search and found the Seattle Sounders allow umbrellas with the caveat you don't interfere with others enjoyment of the game. Funny how Andrew's issue with not bringing an umbrella is the take away everyone has from his post. Seems there are more important things in there.

  8. We've played more talented opponents this year, and preformed at a higher level. We needed a better offensive game plan last night.

  9. The two INTs he threw were unacceptable. Second one, where he threw to an unopened reciever...into the wind...was bad one. Turning the Ball over in the Red Zone is also absolutely unacceptable. Take charge at the end of the first half and throw the ball to a streaking receiver. Pohl is a field lieutenant, instead of a general.

  10. At least it was the first ball thrown Pratt's way all night that was caught. Get it together Zips!

  11. My only beef with play calling is they had some success running to the left between the center and tackle. They seem to have the defense blocked. Let's get back to that. Running right has been too difficult and they aren't getting everyone blocked. I have no problem with the pass plays called. More passes over the middle. Need to do a better job of catching. I know it's raining, but this is a big game and guys need to produce in big games if we are ever going to become anything other than pretenders.

  12. Of course Pohl will be blamed but it was LT's fault. You dont cut your route off short when you have the guy beat deep.

  13. Sadly with the change in the issue proposal, I've pretty much given up on the arena now.
