  1. Unfortunately, I'm not sure the rest of the home non-conference schedule is that much better...

  2. Well it seems to me that if you’re going to bother celebrating a culinary delight which has its origins in rural Quebec of the 1950’s, you might as well enjoy it with the appropriate weather. I’m normally pretty careful about the nutritional value of a meal – not this Saturday. Paired with some select Unibroue offerings, I know one little corner of Lot 9 will be transformed into Vieux-Montréal, if only for a day. Why it’ll be the envy of Céline Dion, Mario Lemieux, and Jabari Arthur. Let’s rock this poutine cookoff!

  3. It is funny...a 10 point road win, our 4th road road win of the year...only 3 years removed from triple 1-11 seasons...is cause to get rid of the coaching staff and start over. For a vocal few. A vocal one is consistently amazed that we don't fill InfoCision after we string two wins together. Zips are having a nice season. I'm looking forward to Saturday. I'll be dressed warm, slightly drunk, and cheering for the Zips! F Buffalo!

  4. I'm sure this has been rehashed on here, but McCollum wanted to go to Akron, but the Zips only had one open scholarship, which went to Zeke Marshall. That was back when KD refused to go over the scholarship limit. KD has publicly admitted not letting a player like McCollum in was a mistake he wouldn't repeat. (Hence why Akron is two scholarship players over the limit right now for 2016). Btw, here is a hilarious photo of McCollum in the state tournament his freshman or sophomore year in HS. The big guy behind him is Kosta Koufos (now with the Sacramento Kings). http://i.imgur.com/PPAQaWI.jpg

  5. Thought the highlight was when Frenchy dropped an F bomb during a commercial break on the webcast. A close second was when I dropped an F Bomb after another point blank miss by Big Dog. All and all, it was a totally worthless 40 minutes of hoops. How about the next time we bring Hiram in, lets handicap it. Maybe 5 on seven or we wear patches over each players dominate eye, let the dance team play 5 minutes of each halt, etc, etc. The possibilities are endless...............................

  6. OK so its not a big game but should still be noted. And by local custom early in the season the sound guy forgot to turn the mic on. :-)

  7. I love the depth, but at times I fear it works against us in developing that "go to guy." Every team needs that guy they can get the ball to in a pinch and count on him to get you a bucket. Tree was getting there, but those guys have been few and far between in recent years.

  8. I probably shouldn't gloat but I'm going to anyway... A former Zips Coach once remarked something like It can't be done in Akron which proved to be wrong. Well, it hasn't been done in Louisville, and won't be done this year.

  9. Skip, I don't think anyone is saying that getting blown out in a bowl game would be doom for the program. My whole post was kind of tongue-in-cheek about praying for the best possible outcome. There are some matchups that would be disastrous, but certainly not the end of the world. The sun came up the morning of March 22, 2013 and it would come up the day after a bowl game beatdown as well. I don't think the basketball program was damaged by that NCAA Tournament defeat but it sure was a bitter pill for a Zips fan to swallow. I remember feeling like I had been punched in the stomach the next day. I sincerely hope the Zips get a beatable team if they make it to a bowl, but it is good for the program no matter what. I haven't read any posts in this thread that made me think that anyone was advocating it was better to not make a bowl vs. going and getting our ass handed to us. I certainly hope it wasn't my post that made anyone think that because I definitely didn't mean it that way.

  10. "Going To A Bowl" is going to be the sweetest sound to my ears. I don't care Where, Who, or When. And I don't care about anyone's prediction that the wrong matchup would spell DOOM for us.

  11. Just to add some more to to conversation. 10 of 20 started there college careers at third school. (Bold) 2 were Ivy League players (Miller, Maia) which doesn't allow scholarships to grad students. IMO, the biggest issue with the rule is the number of players who are transferring twice in there careers.
