I knew if I lived long enough I'd find a Hip Zip post I disagreed with. Dambrot's teams don't play for regular season championships...they play for MAC Tournament championships. I think the net-cutting ceremony was only a blip on their march towards cutting down the real nets in Cleveland. The Zips were humiliated in K.e.n.t. Now they have the Flashes on their home court, on Senior Night and on ESPN2. We'll have 6 days of rest prior to the next game, so I don't see KD or the team taking their foot off the pedal. If we lose tonight, it's because K.e.n.t's better than us. Seeing how our guards matched up in Game #1, that's my biggest concern. Antino, Noah, Jimond and Josh need to play a lot better tonight. Reggie and Kwan are rolling. Big Dog's on the big stage. Should be an awesome night in Akron tonight. Looking forward to a couple beers and a steak sandwich at The Score before the game, and a celebratory one...or two afterwards! Go Zips!5 points

The JAR has been set up for a theatrical extravaganza for the game on Friday. After Wednesday evenings women's game a contractor has installed 16 computer controlled multi-color spotlights in the rafters and 8 towers with carbon dioxide smoke generators at the corners of the floor along with two additional light show generators on some of the towers. I assume that other equipment will be installed just before game time. I told Reggie and Jake that they must be awful special to get this size of Senior Night treatment. Make sure you get their early enough for the pregame senior recognition.4 points

It was hard to ignore this. I really felt like Ken+ was able to guard the shooters on the perimeter better than any team we played this year. It was also devastating to see Hall and Spicer combine for 39 points in the paint. But Ken+ is going to see a different team tonight. That team that went to Ken+ a few weeks ago was still trying to figure out how to play with a shortage of post players. But I really think the key tonight is that the juiced-up crowd will be able to help our guys create more turnovers. And I think that's going to create an entirely different outcome.2 points

Good. It's WAY too hot in that place, and will be even hotter with 5k packed into that place. I was thinking the same thing. It seems like they've been here forever. And they are two first-class guys who have laid it on the line for us for 4 years, and really epitomize the Dambrot era at UA.2 points

Yeah, standing in line over there was brutal sometimes and some of the "assistance" that was offered was just as brutal. Just look at how easy things are now for the students.1 point

We did play cmu at home. They don't bother me that much. I'd like to avoid toledo. They have too much talent to be an 8 seed.1 point

True, but I think that's selling Williams short. He had an apparance in the Cowboys' camp for a reason...he was a really good quarterback. If Woodson was our QB in Bowden's first year, I think our offensive numbers would have been completely different. I think 2016 Zips offense will hearken back to the old Brookhart/Owens days. If, Warren Ball is any good. We will be loaded at WR, and should have a solid running game. Last year the Zips reminded me a lot of the Minnesota Vikings, who let Bridgewater "manage the game," while their defense won it. The Broncos won a Super Bowl with that strategy this year. But with the loss of our top 3 LB's and Coe, I think we'll need to put up more points in '16. And Bowden should trust Woodson to make some big plays a little more than last season.1 point

In my opinion, I still can't forget about those decisive losses to Ken+, Toledo and CMU on the road. And we never got a chance to play two of them at home to see just how good (or bad) we matched up against them. We'll know much more about Ken+ tonight. But, I guess I will always wonder about CMU and Toledo. So, I have those two at the top of my list of teams I'd love to avoid in Cleveland. So most importantly, I just don't want to see CMU in the 4 spot, or see Toledo in the 8 spot.1 point

I really feel like the Zips are gonna make a statement tonight. Aside from beating the hated rival, winning this game knocks Kent out of a first round bye for the tournament which would be great.1 point

dalton numbers and a stellar defense like last season equates to the best season in zips history1 point

Certainly an interesting hire. Scott Scarborough will like it, because I'm sure it is budget-friendly. Bowden will like it, because he has an OL coach that won't be hired away after 1 season. Stability is good. The fans will like it - if the OL performs well. Peterson was a pretentious douche. Funk's OL didn't impress anyone. Hope this guy can coach 'em up. The development of the OL, and getting all the new bodies on the same page, is the key to success in 2016. Keep the heat off Woodson, and we should see Dalton Williams-like numbers from the Zips offense. If the OL sucks, expect Clayton-Moore-like numbers. I predict those who remember the Dalton years will be happy. And my football predictions, as of late, have been pretty good.1 point

I really don't give two Can'ts what our RPI is at the end of the season. Just beat Can't Friday, win three more in Cleveland next week, and show up and be competitive against whomever we face in The Dance. I want our game to be the one everyone is switching to because we're about to move on to the Round of 32. Go Zips!1 point
