  1. 1.) The haven't "used" their dad's legacy at all. The "Bowden" last name might get your foot in a door. Big deal...that's life...it's no different in politics, or corporate America or anywhere else. Terry's wins (160+) and losses are on his own merit. A Program like Akron would have been absolutely stupid to turn him down when he expressed interest in the position. 2.) You've heard Terry say he uses the "Bowden" name to gain a footing in Florida recruiting, huh? Would you rather he changed his name to Norris Neidermire, just to be fair to the other coaches recruiting Florida? 3.) You wonder why the Bowden name is so big in Florida? I'll leave that to stand alone. Bowden isn't riding any coat tails. He owns his wins and losses. If he has a banner 2017, or it goes down the toilet, it will have noting to do with his 88 year old dad. The credit or blame goes to him, just like any other coach. kreed - you, and two others on this board can out-type anyone. You guys love it, and can debate endlessly. I can't, and won't. I'm done. Go Zips.

  2. I have to add this: It remains extremely puzzling to me if he's suddenly lost his ability to successfully coach a football team. Couldn't have happened, in my opinion. He's been far too successful, far too many times, at far too many places. But, he wouldn't be the first guy who "slipped" as they aged in their profession. Again, I will trust the leadership who hires and pays him to decide all of this. I know we probably all expected his coaching connections, recruiting connections, and his credibility as a Bowden to produce more than what it's produced, and sooner. I think next year is key, as many people have suggested. We need an answer as to whether progress was only temporarily halted with the injuries and late season collapse in 2016. If not, we will hopefully at least be searching for a solution.

  3. My issues with him are about his over the top, it's all about me persona plus the whole rumor of an affair soon after losing child, and then having the nerve to market (more or less) the horrible story of losing a child and then freaking out when other schools make fun of the RTB mantra...and by the way, word is that Wisconsin was singing "Row, Row, Row Your Boat" after the Cotton Bowl. To me, college football should be about the student athlete, first. Everyone is entitled to their opinion but I won't feel about feeling like he is a punk. I don't begrudge him getting a better job (though better is debatable in the case of Minnesota.) I thought it was great for Babers to go to Syracuse. I just don't like Fleck.

  4. What amazes me is I believe Fleck went from making $800k to making $3.5M and people are questions his integrity. What person wouldn't leave their current job, no matter how much they loved it, if someone offered to ~4.5X their salary.
