  1. I am no expert on this subject either, but I do go to a lot of Zip women's soccer, swimming and track games/meets/matches. I am not sure about volleyball, but I think the previous coaching staff was rather high school-esque in their approach to the game and abysmal at recruiting. I know one of the current player's parents as aquaintences and they seem to be pleased with the new regime but said it will take some time to turn around what he inherited. Track and field - they just won (today) the indoor MACs over a talented field of 11 other MAC schools, and have been 1st or 2nd in indoor and outdoor the last four seasons. Jumps are top notch, sprints strong after a few off years, weights are down after two all americans left. But they recruit so well, and their coaching staff is so solid and productive. What they have is depth at almost every event. Swimming and diving is similar, with a team that never finished better than eighth in the MAC transformed into winning four straight MAC titles (they'll wrap up #4 tonight). Why? A coaching staff that blends hard work and having fun, with smart recruiting. Peresie arived and trained smart and got total buy in from the women and here we are. Soccer - Wow. I don't know. You'd think that with the men's success, and the top drawer facilities and support that they would at least be a .500 club. I mean, the MAC is tough, with Kent, Buffalo, Miami, Western, Ball State and Toledo strong, but their off-MAC schedule has been pretty easy. Cleveland State, Robert Morris, Clarion....Coaching may be the answer here too. I think 4 head coaches in the last 8 years? And none were really college coaches, more club coaches and there seemed to always be drama on the team. This Herlihy coach though seems tough as nails and a winner. Granted Slippery Rock isn't Notre Dame, but the MAC isn't the ACC. I think her recruiting classes the past two years look promising, but she inherited an empty pantry, so it may not turn around quickly. And speaking of recruiting...track and swimming have recruited internationally....france, israel, spain, england, germany...not a lot but the one's they get are tops. All are all-MAC and Soeme have ended up NCAA qualifiers. Okay....more thananyone wanted to read, I am sure.....

  2. Would it look disrespectful to Miami to cut them down before the game? If we could just drop Kent one more place this would be my dream MACC for this year. That would put WMU, Ball State, NIU, BGSU and Miami all on our half of the bracket with Ohio, Buffalo and Kent all fighting for the right to meet the Zips.

  3. I'll put this here, even though it covers multiple teams. Pretty great day to be a Zip!

  5. From the post game after the Buffalo game, it seemed to me Dambrot has no intention on resting players down the stretch. He's planning to play to win the games. After the Kent game our next game would be 6 days away so it's not like rest would be needed. I'd be more concerned about rust.

  8. I did not get this bobblehead when it came out because I am not a season ticket holder for MSoc. I was very hopeful that I could score one at the EMU bball game but that was unsuccessful. Thanks to a fellow ZN.o contributor who saw my posts, there was a package on my porch when I got home from work last night and inside the box was a Yedlin bobblehead. Thanks a million to 72Roo. I owe you one.
