  1. All the heavy I-beams have been welded into place and painted. They are needed to support the much larger video board. Now the skeletal structure is being assembled.

  2. Congrats to the soccer team! Awesome win!

  3. Just got back to hotel in Atlanta after watching Atlanta beat the snot out of Philadelphia 3-nil, but had my cell phone tuned in to ESPN3 and watched our Zippies DESTROY MSU 4-1. Atlanta's 3rd goal coincided almost exactly with Joao's goal for #4 for Akron. I was standing up cheering the Zips score when Atlanta scored. Everyone in my section thought I had ESP! I explained I had ESPN3! Anyway, ME_87 had hoped I would regret being in Mercedes Benz Stadium instead of Cub Cadet, and he was right! I am sorry I wasn't there, but glad I could keep up with the match. Looks like Z.I.P. had a field day in Honolulu with posts! Love ya, man! Love the Zips more!

  4. Beautiful football display by The University of Akron as Nick Hinds combines with Joao Moutinho for the FOURTH goal of the game vs HashtagNumberOne Michigan State!!!! 4-1 Akron. Can I add something? OK. David Egbo really looks good, and has a winning attitude. Freshman!

  5. How deep do you go? When the Sweater Vest went down in flames, Gene Smith and the Bowtie walked away scot free. But does anybody on this forum or anywhere else really think these two REALLY had nothing to do with that? Gene is still there, pocketing $1.5 mil a year, Gee would still be there if he hadn't shown his true colors. Still, WVU caught his fall to the tune of $3/4 mill... At Penn State the old boy club got what they deserved, but did anybody above them take part in the cover up? And who hired the kiddie fondlers and the secret keepers in the first place? Penn State got hit hard, but it was hardly a death penalty, more a chance to clean house of all the sludge out of the system and start building a playoff-contending program. Something JoPa hadn't done in 17 years. So yeah it was a rough couple years between bowl games, but... I'm not seeing the punishment fitting the crime in any of these cases. Pitino falls on his sword, the program gets some wins "vacated" () the AD throws him under the bus and keeps his $1.4m salary. The president pretends to dust the dirt off his sleeves and moves onto the next topic. A handful of "students" get their payola and schollys taken away, probably go to another contending program, and start. The other handful of "student" athletes may miss out on the Dance. While getting more playing time. And 10 years from now, it'll be another program (maybe coached by Pitino) getting their hand slapped too.

  6. Let's face it. The MAC East will always be a borderline Dumpster Fire. After the 1-3 start, let's salvage the Season by beating the dreds of the Division. I know that BG has had our number, but is this the one? Your thoughts?

  7. Victim-less if you like seeing Akron (and about 80% of the other D-1 Athletic programs) continue on with virtually a ZERO chance of ever winning a title. That's not what I would like to see. I'll keep repeating this: I'll take ANYTHING that moves the needle anywhere near heading back in the right direction again. And with the rewards going only to those who have Millions of Dollars to buy wins, that's not the right direction for me as a College Athletics fan.

  8. I'm expecting a 3 TD victory....35 to 14. Kwads breaks free for 3 big plays. Ball will run to 125 and not past, so my predictionon will be right! We'll still do some stupid things, personal foul penalty at an inopportune time, and probably fumble away a score in the red zone, but overall we'll prevail big time.

  9. I can't pick the Zips to beat BG until it actually happens some time. Let's hope I'm wrong and this is the year

  10. I'm looking for the Zips to break out big this week. Bowling Green is worse than bad. I think the offense should have a field day against the hapless Falcon defense and win by 3 scores. Please Zips, demonstrate that the Sagarin ratings are wrong. Jeff's computers have them sitting at 137 and Akron at 141. Where's Kent, you ask? 174.

  11. Three to Zero!!! Nick Hind's adept placement creates an Akron own goal off the knee of a Spartie defender. Off-subject, I see Whole Foods sponsoring with signage in the corner area. Is there a WFM in Akron now???

  12. Nice work by the ESPN crew in Akron tonight. I like that shot of the #NachoCheeseBall! Overall excellent. Attendance: Looks like AKRowdies are in good form. Behind goal is what -- 3/4 full?

  13. I use ChromeCast. plug it into a slot on your TV, then anything you bring up on your computer goes on your big screen TV. ESPN3, YouTube, other streaming services. Or you can watch it on a tablet or notebook if you're doing something else (using the rest room, putzing in the garage or basement, sitting outside on a nice day...).

  14. Kizer is the first guy I have seen in a Browns uniform that looks like a competent QB. Sure he has made mistakes, but most of them were because of aggresive play. He has the size, agility, arm strength and brains to be an NFL QB. Now he just needs more experience and a better supporting cast to be successful.

  15. You really have watch the Browns games instead of just look at the box score to see how Kizer is really doing. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe QBR is calculated solely based off of stats? I thought he looked pretty solid against Pitt. Bad against Baltimore...real bad. I don't know how much the migraine played into that though. Can't really relate. I thought he was pretty decent against Indy as well. Got rid of the ball quicker, took less sacks. I would put one INT on him, one could be him or Kasen Williams (a clear miscommunication somewhere), and then the INT at the end shouldn't be held against him really as it was a hail mary attempt. Here's why you need to watch the games: 8 dropped passes and 4 nice plays called back due to offensive pass interference. Those are not typos and that is just in the Indy game. Biggest things I want to see from him is less turnovers and getting rid of the ball quicker. He is getting zero help from his WRs and losing Coleman for a while is just rubbing salt into the wound.

  16. Feds = tax evasion. Also, this isn't the end. Typically, you start with low-level targets and get them to flip to testify against the big targets in exchange for lighter sentences.

  17. Louisville sold it's soul in pursuit of athletic glory. Pitino and Petrino are two of the scummiest coaches in all of college athletics. I hope Louisville goes down hard.

  18. The federal Prosecutors will skate by the small stuff like a donor picking up the cost of a car for a Toledo basketball player. They are trying to shut down the big guys. This first set of indictments are to get the small guys to turn on the big prey. Watch the employees of Nike and Adidas and the assistant coaches turn on their coaching fraternity to get reduced sentences. Here is one of the biggest target: http://bit.ly/2yreu1I

  19. Well when I was there there the airport was empty. Same with the Derby. And there was no signs of life anywhere. Except for Hoppin Frog, which was where my friends and I were attending a party - after a funeral. My perceptions have changed quite a bit since I left Akron 20 years ago, but for me, it was not a good experience being there. I had the opportunity to work all over the most forgotten parts of Appalachia for my job, and many parts of Akron have that same feel of desperation, and hopelessness in the air. I wish Akron the best, but it's not my place anymore.
