  1. Not one person who reads this board knew Bowden was extended last year? How is that possible? Zippy5 is right. GT should not have a job in this town.

  2. I'd feel bad for Terry if by some grace of God we made it to the playoff and he only got $50K

  3. Leo Chappel has been very busy on the road since the season ended, and his travels are going to pay off handsomely, I am confident. Yes, in Portugal, among other locales. Looks like a number of incoming players will be eligible to play this upcoming spring season. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

  4. Now that it's been established in the Bowden Extension Thread that Bowden's contract has three more seasons on it (18, 19, 20) I think it's fair to start discussing what our expectations are for the Bowden Regime going forward. Discuss your opinions here; musts and hopes. Since there are three more years on the contract, my expectations would be Musts, to see progress in this progrum: 2/3 years bowl appearances No season less then 6 wins 8-win season (looking at you 2019) Another MAC Championship appearance (Win the MAC East outright, not on tie-breakers) Sprinkles on top: Another Bowl Win MAC Championship Win 9-win season (here's looking to you 2019)

  5. Merry Christmas to all of Zipnation & Happy New Year, let’s hope this team takes another step in the right direction in 2018. Zips return almost the whole defense & hopefully it can carry the team until the offense catches up.

  6. I was suggesting more of a different approach. Maybe Marc Is not necessarily the best answer. So tired of zones pushing us out to desperation 3s that have very little chance of going In.

  7. Seriously? The guy who has ZERO assists and 7 turnovers? And a foul total that doubles his point total?

  9. 6-6 or 7-5 win seasons 7-8 years into the Bowden tenure just won't cut it for me. I'd like to see us push for a 9-10 win season one of the years. He needs to show he is capable of winning big at Akron.

  10. Isn't a 6 win season equivalent to a bowl game appearance? Either way, I think that the bar shall be two 6+ wins with bowl appearances in both of the upcoming seasons for Bowden to be extended in 2019. That's in theory. However, we all know that if Bowden goes 4-8 next year and comes back with an 11-2 Mac championship season the year after that, we will all be happy to extend his contract.

  12. "http://www.uakron.edu/bot/docs/2016/Board Book for August 16, 2016.pdf" Athletics There are 5 personnel actions in Athletics for changes to Head Coaching Contracts: 1. Terry Bowden, Head Football Coach – two-year contract extension; change in stipend for apparel and footwear contract from $25,000 to $30,000; relinquish administrative stipend for club membership and insert new language to support club membership; change in Academic Progress Rate bonus structure for Head Coach in Exhibit A and Assistant Coaches in Exhibit B of Employment Contract 2. Keith Dambrot, Head Men’s Basketball Coach – one-year contract extension 3. Noreen Herlihy, Head Women’s Soccer Coach – three-year contract extension 4. Jenny King, Head Women’s Golf Coach – new employment contract 5. Brandon Padgett, Head Women’s Tennis Coach – new employment contract So if I understand it, he was previously signed thru 2018 and was extended in Aug. 2016 (after the tater bowl season) for 2019 and 2020. I have no memory of hearing about that last year - either it flew totally under the radar or I need to see my gerontologist soon.
