  1. You're right, Nebraska fans can still think this hire magically turns them into the Big Red of before. Zipmeister, you're one of my favorite posters here but I'm not sure what makes you think they're anything special. They went 4-8 last year, lost to NIU and added the 23rd recruiting class in the country. Certainly beatable, and most likely nowhere near being a B1G contender. Time will tell either way

  2. They did not, yet, have accommodations, and it was after 10:00 PM. It was unlikely that the boys would have had the night of sleep that you want before playing the game on Sunday and the forecast was notninxredivly promising for Sunday. Williams made the right call. If there were no alternate arrangements for inclement weather in the contract, they will have to pay. We may, as a courtesy, agree to reach a partial payment agreement. Having gone through this scenario last year, I am confident that Williams and Bowden knew what needed to be in place for it to be a go

  3. I still don't see any. But the game time is not set yet, probably because video coverage is still TBD..

  4. I dislike it intensely when people come on here and hate on the team.

  6. Even if we only consider modern times, I'm looking forward optimistically to our trip to Evanston. Go ahead Zipmonster, give it a chuckle.

  7. Larry William's has released a statement: https://journalstar.com/sports/huskers/football/akron-ad-addresses-why-zips-could-not-play-sunday-suggests/article_11e944fa-3ff3-5556-bf97-6f93aa75cfc8.amp.html In short, they would have had to split everyone up and the weather looked questionable on Sunday. If either teams needs a win for a bowl berth they will consider rescheduling week 14. It is disappointing, yes, but Nebraska fans need to get a grip. If they were, actually stupid enough to not addressnunforseen circumstances in the contract with us, they deserve to lose the money, if we in fact get paid.

  8. I know it’s not the greatest program we’ve got, but after a dismal home opener, the WSOC team lost 1 nil to a solid Charlotte team, won on the road to Wolford, should have won a 2 - 2 draw with Indiana State and today scored SIX goals in a 6 nil win over Youngstown State, not the caliber of opps the MSOC play, but 6 goals none the less. And freshman Sydney Worthy had a hat trick. She looks to be a solid scoring threat to compliment Ashley Amato. Erica Schrader added a goal and a pair of assists. School record is 7 goals. Won’t be home again till September 28, at which time this could be the highlight of their season, but at least it was an entertaining match.

  9. Kent's QB looked really good. But I'm not so worried yet. Illinois is bad and they only had 2 wins last year. And one was Ball State by 3 points.

  10. Exactly. For those that were not there, just know that your team was ready to rumble. We might have lost but they were going to know they were in a fight!

  11. KSU came up just short; unable to overcome the combo of Illini team and BiG officials.

  12. I am so deflated about last night. National television prime time under the lights against a Big Ten team for the world to see and this happens. I feel for the kids and staff and FU to anyone looking down hating on anyone who are positive about this Zips team believing they could win last night. I was one of them who believed and its YOU people who have that negative perception never giving the Zips a chance against Power 5 teams that hold us back. I watched Appalachian State run with Penn State who were favored by 24 take them to OT and Maryland without a Head Coach, Athletic Director and President upset Texas. Anything is possible. Sorry for the rant but I just hate to see negative comments when I come in here.

  13. That's one good thing about the cancellation; it allows some to continue their fantasies.

  14. If I had to do a write-up for a Cornhusker newspaper it would read something like this: Zips fans under no false illusions that they have a good chance to win in Lincoln, but they do believe that there elements in play that still leave them with an opportunity ruin Scott Frost's big premiere in front of the Cornhusker kingdom. A near recent upset in the Big House and a road win against Pitt, are both recent enough experiences to make the Zips believe they can go steal this one. They are hungry after humiliating losses against Lane Kiffen and their MAC opponent, Toledo. What the Zips have going for them: On Offense Athletic QB who shown the ability for explosive play and good decision-making. This QB played primetime HS football and will be eager to show the football upper echelon what they missed out on by overlooking him. The receiving corps has more threats than have been acknowledged, including a big bodied graduate, a return to his original position for Michael Traylor- Bennett, and talented hiungry receivers like Dre Williams, Nate Stewart, and Maverick Wolfley, nephew of famed Steelers alum, Craig Wolfley. A mature Kyle Ritz will lead a bigger bodied and more athletic offensive line. Injuries gave younger players opportunities to see live action in 2017, so they are nto as green as they appear. This may be one of the better sized OLs the Zips have faced up against a P5 team in recent memory. On Defense Ulysees Gilbert III is perhaps a faster and stronger version of former Zips Jatavis Brown, who terrorized both MAC and P5 programs as a Zip and who has made a name for himself as a Charger. Gilbert has been moved to outside LB this year, giving him an increased ability to terrorize the QB. Former FSU recruit, Brian Bell is hard hitting, nasty linebacker. He plays with a chip on his shoulder. Jamal Davis at DE showed a lot of promise last year and all accounts point to him raising the bar this year. More depth at DL than 2017. If you are looking at 2017 film, you are likely to see quite a difference. Among the best in D1A when it came to interceptions last year. Brown, Alvin Davis, Shawn Featherstone, Denzel Butler, and Jordan George are all talented. Their depth has been augmented by R-Fr, and highly recruited Jordyn Riley. The legacy of Chuck Amato lives on in Todd Stroud. Expect some new twists to the solid LB U style play that we are accustomed to from Amato-style defenses as a new assistant coach joins Amato's long time sidekick, Stroud. Special Teams Expect zero improvement from the Zips specialists. Their coverage and return teams were average and similar is expected in 2018. What the Husker have against them Inexperienced QB - we won't beat a dead horse here. He is obviously talented but the degree that he needs some D1 live actions reps to mature has yet to be seen. In the end, it will not matter, the Huskers will live and die by this kid, so they might as well rally around him. Frost mania - this type of hype can backfire. MAC teams usually do better against P5 programs than people expect until mid-way through Q2. If the Zips get ahead early and go into the locker room with a lead at the half, doubt could creep in. Offensive line and defensive secondary both are vulnerabilities.
