  1. All I am saying is that this would be the perfect time for the college soccer world to adopt the two part season. Get things rolling in the spring, summer break, and then finish everything up in the fall.

  2. There are times in life that you wish you were wrong. This is one of those times. I was watching the commissioner on TV explaining the situation, and it is very disappointing for the fans and alumni. However, for the good of the players and fans that attend the games, I think this is the best decision (unfortunately). See prior posts of mine, I am expecting the rest of college and high school football to follow suit. Let's all pray that this virus ends soon. Go Zips.

  3. A big part of the problem in the athletics budget is due to accounting methods. In athletics every single cost can be nailed down and charged to that department. That goes all the way down to the people who clean the bathrooms at the JAR and those who mow the grass at Lee Jackson field. Compare that to the English department. If a new building is constructed to house the department do you think the cost of that building is considered a cost of the English program? How about the janitors or grounds keepers? Pretty sure Athletics doesn't get a credit for all the tuition paid from walkons or players from non-scholarship sports.

  4. https://www.espn.com/college-football/story/_/id/29621025/source-mac-cancels-fall-football-season-eyes-move-spring Regardless of any past thoughts, seeing an entire FALL SPORTS SEASON be cancelled is a major blow to Akron, and every program in the MAC. Likely not the only conference to make this move, but the first at the FBS level. The economics without football buy games is impossible to navigate. Football impacts schools, but not really the NCAA. If this extends to the winter and there is no basketball tournament for a second season, the end of the NCAA will be in short order. No $$$ no sports. This could well be the total reset that we have been tossing around in various ways for years.

  5. I don't know what it was but I am confident it didn't happen in an English or sales class.

  6. It is 6 months until February. I think there will be a new president and some type of vaccine by then.

  7. I always thought that this market would. There’s been talk and attempts. Now there’s a modern stadium of perfect size not owned by the NFL (Tom Benson Stadium). Canton had an arena team for awhile, but that was too gimmicky for the meat and potatoes fan in this region. If you look at other minor league sports, NE Ohio has four minor league baseball teams, and a G League basketball team. The Canton/Akron baseball team has been here 30 years, They could garner attention by paying homage to Canton being the birthplace of pro football and Akron being the first pro football champions. And I gotta think the U would be very interested in talking rental of the Info. And collecting parking fees. I think it would work. Esp a league that has televised games.

  8. I’m afraid you’re right. More cuts, and without the FBS money means even more cuts. Title IX is going to obliterate men’s sports. I have no words...

  9. This is just terrible. I figured this might happen. My heart goes out to those seniors on the team that have worked so hard only to see their careers end like this.
