  1. i'll be very interested to see how the whole scholarship issue ends up playing out, and i'm not counting on a spring season. Its pretty clear there isn't going to be college sports until there is a vaccine. I don't believe these conferences will be able to prevent breakouts if they attempt to play a fall season. Spring season will be most "advantageous" for us I think if they don't move up the 85 scholarship limit. We in theory should be able to get transfers who can contribute immediately with next year's class and be at or closer to 85 (don't want to go in too heavy on upperclassman). If they start giving exemptions for the limit or get funky with the number for a year or two we are really in the same disadvantaged spot we are now. Also not a fan of the 25/year limit...I believe we have that thanks to the big schools cutting players. Probably helps us some how big the staff is on culture and accountability. Also gives us some more time for our extremely young team to get a little older.

  2. I've always said that the farther south I go, the smarter I get. Alabama, Mississippi and Texas have 3 of the highest 5 COVID infection rates in the country. Come on Bubba, let's play us some football.

  5. The current plan for Iowa State is 50% capacity in the stadium. They only sold season ticket renewals. No new season tickets and no single game tickets. Lots of COVID-19 mitigation efforts will be in place, but it is still "enter at your own risk." You can sit in your ticketed location or move to areas that are more open. All I've heard about tailgating is that there will be "extra spacing" (which I take to mean leaving a space between cars). Who knows what will actually happen? P.S. It is very fun to watch the Hokeyes and the Fuskers, our B10 neighbors, getting so jealous of us in the Big 12.

  6. Maybe, just maybe, the trucking company that the team uses to transport the Football Equipment, is using their trailer on the road and making money with it, since it was just sitting around collecting dust on campus!!

  7. They should consider modeling something like what Wake Forest did with football tickets. I've paid for my tickets, parking pass and required Deacon Club donation. I don't care about the Deacon Club donation as it is a charitable donation and not much money compared tickets and parking pass. Exactly how it will work is unknown, but basically my tickets and parking pass money will be "refunded". I can ask for the money back right now and get a check. Or I can buy single game tickets and pay out of my "bank" at the week of the game. All tickets are electronic. Let's say I have 6 home games and spend $200 per game for two tickets for easy math. If they only play 3 games and the season is cancelled, I would get back $600. If I only go to one game and all were played, I would get $1,000 back. This is a good way to treat people during uncertain times. It creates a good fan experience even when they may not feel comfortable going to a game. People just have to be more engaged when games are coming up if they want to go. The only thing that would make me upset is if my seats were drastically different. I have 48 yard line seats 2/3rd up the Wake side. The advantage is they are always in the shade because of the giant pressbox. I understand they may be different, but I do think being a 12 year season ticket holder should mean something. Akron just needs to provide something people will understand during difficult times. Fans need to show some understanding as well and not act like babies if they don't get every last thing they want.

  8. Nice article by Brooke Pryor The chronic pain radiating in his hip area and lower back told him something was wrong, but it was also a pain the rookie had felt on and off since college. "The linebacker room got real small, real quick," Gilbert said. "And then you just think to yourself, ‘This is my time. I've got to do something to get on the field.' It's really up to me what I want to do. I've got to control what I can control and at the end of the day, if I do those things, I'm hoping I'll be able to play or help Devin [Bush] and Vince [Williams] with the snaps. That's my goal."
