  1. I just saw the story in the ABJ. It's page A-1 front & center. This Harry Jackson, owner of the Odd Corner, must be an honest-to-God first class tool. I haven't been into the Odd Corner in years, but the last time I was in there, in addition to your wide-ranging selection of hash pipes and bongs, they also had quite a lovely assortment of sex toys as well. You should have seen the shelf lined with dildos the size of bedposts! Yeah, the Odd Corner "anchored" Exchange Street. What a classy establishement it truly is! And to think that this disgrace of an opperation was going to be located right outside the main gate of The Info?! This is as absurd and hilarious as a half-hour sitcom plot, but it's gotten so painfully old that I just can't laugh anymore. Now I'll have to walk down the street for my one-stop-shopping for drug paraphenalia, kinky sex toys and pornography. Too bad all the fathers bringing their sons to future Zips games at The Info won't get to walk their boys past The Odd Corner. This is so absurd it's surreal. What a freaking sit-com.
i believe in the story they tastefully called the sex toys erotica. overall the move will be good for him. one of the workers was telling me that one of the reasons they burned so much incense in there was to cover the cat piss smell from the tenants above.
  2. I think it's a little unrealistic to think that ANY 30 second spot is going to grab the attention of a 17 year old w/ a 30 on the ACT.
I had a 29 on the ACT and have two degrees from UA. Does that count?I didn't go here because of ads though. Your point holds.
and i had a 32... but the main draw for me was rifle and the honors college because we sure as hell don't get akron ads out west. as for the website, i really like our website. it may seem boring but it is easy to navigate. compared to other colleges, i'll take a less fancy easy to use site than something flushy that's also confusing. the pictures on the side do change and some are from just last year.
  3. I know you all are being very, very careful with what you say on here...and I want you ALL to know that I am soooo very, very greatful that you care enough to be certain not to cross the NCAA fine line on communication. PS...what a bunch of "tight wads" those guys are....geez. Talk about being "ANAL RETENTIVE".
it may seem that way, however those "stupid" rules are only in place because someone in the past has bent or broke them in order to gain some sort of advantage. i know how important it is to our athletic department to do everything by the book. as an athlete myself, i know it's not worth making a stupid mistake getting both the recruit (your son) and the school in trouble for something so innocent as communication.
  4. yeah... oregon state just sucked a little this year
#32,If OSU has any sense, they'll grab Ken Bone -- the Portland State coach who beat our Zips in the Arctic this season.
agreed. psu had talent (i knew dominguez from when i played in hs) but oregon state has more potential to pull better recruits. btw, it's just os now, not osu. they didn't want to be confused with ohio state or oklahoma state (who also has the same school colors).
  5. I'm really not certain where all this KD might leave talk is coming from. I guess it has something to do with Christian bolting on Can't. To be honest, they are completely different situations. Christian is a younger coach whose still on that proverbial upswing of his career. KD was down that road before when he was at CMU. Christian had no previous ties to Can't before he arrived there. KD grew up in the area and went to school here. KD's been around the block a lot more. To be perfectly honest, he's kind of lucky to have scrapped his way back into DI coaching after what went down at CMU. I've never gotten the impression from KD that Akron is just another stepping stone towards some dream of a job with a larger program. With Christian that's always been an issue. I could be totally blinded to something here, but I really think a lot of this KD might leave stuff is just overreaction to that school from the East losing their coach.
    agreed
  6. I still don't know why was McCoy kicked out last year.
I do. But I won't say why here.I will just say that off-the-court discipline is a bit lacking in some of the players on the WBB team. I fear that something has caught up with them that may have happened over spring break.
This is the most I've cared about women's basketball all year. Details, please!
Yeah, seriously. Please share...even if doing so via private message is necessary.
in all seriousness (and it is kind of an a jerky thing to admit knowing, but not giving details) it would be inappropriate and disrespectful to spread around all information especially with regards to severe discipline. some things are just better unspread.
  7. this board is great, but i have to say that it is still second to some other forums. Hopefully more people could be informed of this place, that could help. Also, it sure seems like someone sucks up alot to the moderators. Lame.
just because you got deleted for being an ass doesn't make the forum lame. it shows even more what a lack of character you have to come into a topic thanking the mods and saying it's lame (and yes, i saw the cover your ass line "this board is great")ignore him mods, your work is appreciated by the true zips.
  8. Well it doesn't seem like there are more than about 50 people who really post on here. So me agreeing with roo44 would throw your numbers off a bit.
Now HERE is where you're getting into trouble sir. You agreeing with yourself doesn't change the math. Even creating 2 logins doesn't make you a crowd .. you're still an individual. Logging in twice doesn't make you a movement. Please let me know which login you'd like me to delete for you (rowdie2008 or RootforRoo44). I'll be happy to nix either. Do it again .. and both will be suspended for a period of time.Again, I haven't seen the deleted posts .. so I can't speak to specifics on them. I have confidence in the Moderators. I can tell you that we have a VERY slow trigger finger around here on these things. Congratulations for being the first in several months to make it itch.
    PWND!!!
  9. first of all, you called for his job and said he should be fired. second of all, today's game proves the complete opposite of what you state. kd was able to find the right rotation of guys out there to get us out of the hole and even ahead against a team that was more athletic than us. we struggled bringing up the ball under their pressure which caused the turnovers and the big run at the end, but we don't have a true point guard.

  10. i had him my freshman year in an honors section of intro to ethics and i could not stand the guy. his opinion was right and if you didn't agree you were not allowed to speak and did poorly on papers. he had a big chunk of the class riled up by the end of the year. 1/3 -1/2 of the class threatened to go above his head and magically the potential c's and d's became a's and b's. i'm sure he is a good person, but i disagree with your statements about him in the classroom. i have no idea why he would lose his chair position.
