  1. I don't understand how someone who come onto a Zips board and make negative statements about Lebron's affliations outside of the scope of the discussion. Does it really bother you who his favorite teams are? Are you serious about it mattering what hat he wears?
I admit I would be bothered if he showed up to a Zips game wearing tOSU stuff... however I don't really see that happening, especially when he even has his own clothing line.
  2. P.S. - Mr. Taylor - it would take a tiny amount of $ to build the NCAAs best soccer atmosphere right next to your football stadium
I was thinking last night at the women's game about how important that hill is to creating home field advantage. obviously it allows the rowdies to stand behind and heckle the shit out of opponents, but at half time when teams switch sides, it's not possible to get that same level of heckling. I think it would be really cool if in the new stadium design, they made room for little kills behind both goal posts. It would increase seating and provide more possibilities to create a harsher environment for opponents.
  3. So tonight was the first home game for ANY Zips sport. I'm glad to say it was a win, with the Women's Soccer team grabbing the win over visiting Pitt. The first half was pretty evenly played, with the score 2-2 at the half. In the second half the Lady Zips played at a whole other level, and blew the Panthers away by scoring four more goals to make it a 6-2 win.I was encouraged by the overall attendance, but kind of disappointed by the overall lack of AK-Rowdies. I think there was only one of them.Anyways, it was a great win over a Big East team, and an awesome way to kick off the College Sports season. If you're starving for some Zips games after the long summer, your only choice for seeing them play at home for some time seems to be Soccer, with the Women's team playing again next Friday and the Men's team playing on Sept. 5th and 7th in the Akron tournament.
Someone PLEASE explain to me how this team can beat good teams like Pitt and New Mexico in non-conference, but can't beat the bad teams of the MAC? Maybe this will be the year that changes? We can hope. After all this is Barack week. Hey -- I gotta put in a plug for da homeboy.BTW -- there will be at least ONE AK-Rowdie T-shirt in attendance at New Mexico Stadium Friday night 9/12. But first, BEAT IU AND UND!!!
new coach redistributing the use of talent on the team. we'll see how they fare in MAC play, but beating a team like PITT (6-2 no less) is a great confidence booster.
  4. The good news is that starting defensive linemen Almondo Sewell and Eric Lively, who combined for 73 tackles in 2007, and tailback Dennis Kennedy, who has rushed for 1,201 yards in his first three seasons, have recovered from injuries and participated in the drills Wednesday.
Lively is now injured. Chipped his elbow. Not season ending, but he'll be out for a few weeks. This sucks.
  5. No, we never shot against UAF during my time at UA. I did get to meet and talk with him one year at the Olympic Training Center while I was there for Junior Olympics. Really great guy and a class act.

  6. I'll throw in my 2-cents. My guess is that many of us out here (myself included) have never actually talked to the kid. Well both the coaches and administration have and have made the call to sign him on. Mack has been emphasizing character over talent and if you look at the removal of certain athletes from teams the past couple of years you can see that he backs that talk up with action. They would not have picked this kid up if they were not convinced that he was going to take full advantage of the opportunity given to him. Is he a risk? Yes. Then again every kid is a risk because you never know how someone might change once the freedom of college hits them. Personally, I'm going to enjoy watching someone with a lot of talent play for us and not worry about it.

  7. every year I've been at the university I've walked my happy ass around for free and now that I can't do that it kinda ticks me off. oh well I guess this will only promote everyone driving and using up more parking spots and gas
that's the way i see it. screw it, i'll park a car and avoid the wait of a shuttle or the two block walk in the snow
