  1. This Akron fan will not shed a tear if Columbus loses next week and a school that lost to a Div. 1AA school represents the Big 11 in the BCS. It will only help to validate the complete and utter BS that is the BCS. Thinking of it that way, this year I'll actually take a rooting interest and root for Michigan.
anytime a "big" school loses (especially to a non ranked school) it opens the door for mid-majors. while maybe that won't be us this year, over time it could be.
  2. from gozips:

Akron, Ohio - The University of Akron men's golf team was eliminated from team play at the MAC/Big East Challege today after Drew Davidson and Vaughn Snyder had scorecard violations following round one. The Zips three remaining players, Colin Clemente, Ryan Gutowski and Jacob Patte will finish the event playing as individuals. Due to inclement weather, round two wasn't completed and will resume tomorrow at 7:20 a.m. The third and final round will be played directly after.
Orlando, Fla. - After disqualification as a team, the Zips three remaining men's golf team players finished the MAC/Big East Challenge competing as individuals. Yesterday, after scorecard violoations by freshman Drew Davidson and junior Vaughn Snyder, the Zips were elminated from play as a team, however, seniors Colin Clemente and Ryan Gutowski and sophomore Jacob Patte finished the 36-hole tournament today as individuals."Although the scorecard issues from round one disqualified us from the team competition, I was pleased that Colin and Ryan recorded good individual finishes," said first year head coach, Nick Goetze. "We needed to keep our chins up in spite of our disappointment and all of the guys did a great job in that regard. We've been talking about the importance of fundamentals throughout the fall and it is my hope that learning this lesson the hard way will heighten our focus in the off season as we train for spring. We still have a shot at the MAC title and advancing to NCAA Regional play is within our grasp.Clemente, known for his consistent play, shot a three round total of 219 (69-75-75) on the par-72, 6,993-yard Orange County National Golf Course. Overall, he ended tied for seventh out of 53 golfers. Following closely behind was Gutowski who ended solo in ninth place shooting a three round total of 220 (70-78-72).Patte ended the tournament shooting a 79-83-72 (234).This was the Zips last tournament of the fall. They will resume play this spring.
i wonder what the "score card violations were."
  3. I THINK IT IS TIME FOR JD TO GET HIS HEAD OUT OF HIS REAR AND STOP HOLDING ANY TYPE OF GRUDGE TOWARDS JACKSON FOR SOMTHING THAT HE DONE EARLIER IN THE SEASON.
i don't know what infraction might have occurred, but it's attitudes like this that make athletes believe they are above everyone else and can do what they want. there are more important things in life than just winning football games. don't get me wrong, winning is important, but it's not the only thing. i am happy to see a coach stand up and hold his athlete accountable for their action because it doesn't happen enough. cj7 is a good guy by me, he's in one of my classes and i have nothing against him, but i'm also sure that when he is ready to do what is needed of him jd will play him again. i highly doubt it's a personal grudge, because if it was, most athletes would try to transfer out of that kind of situation.
  4. It has come to my attention from an incredibly reliable source that our Director of Athletics,Mack Rhoades has thrown his name in the hat for the AD job at Pitt. This is shocking becausethe guy has only been here for less than two years and basically hasn't done anything. Mike Thomas set up all of the stadium plans that hve been put into place. Would a Big East school really even grant this guy an interview? I hope Pitt talks to our head coaches first!!!
not happening. asked mack myself and he said no. i choose to believe him. :champs:
Do you really think Mac or any coach looking for another job is going to tell you or anybody else that they are actively pursuing job ops? No Way!
as an athlete i choose to believe that my ad would not lie about something like that point blank to my face. there is that possibility, but you're asking more out of me to think he's a lier than to believe what he says.

  6. clearly you didn't read anything you quoted. i haven't said anything about knowing the types that frequent there other than my teammate... that would be bobbyake the neighborhood was build in 1870? and it was that shitty then? thanks for that bit of history... i thought my house was more in the 1950's-60's era myself. i'm not from ohio so i wouldn't know, but i learn something new every day.the university doesn't have to adapt to anything. if it would draw more people to come to school by removing it, you bet your ass it's on their to-do list whether you like it or not. i don't think they really care enough about it though. i capitalize SELLER because that is what you are doing. don't try to make yourself high and mighty by saying donate because if you really cared for the cause you would go to the red cross and GIVE, and not worry about the money like i used to do.

  7. You seem unable to cope with the fact that the university is in a city. Just because you don't like what central Akron looks like doesn't mean you can destroy it and run out everyone living in it.
the university is in the city and the nearby neighborhoods are pretty much slums. ua and upa don't like the way neighborhood is looking so they are redeveloping it. cope with that. i'll tell you why i won't go there or even walk by it:1. the people who i see go in there and loiter outside raise the little hairs on the back of my neck. i don't care if they are druggies or not and i don't really need to know. i do need to trust my intuition to keep myself safe, and nothing you have said so far has made me feel more comfortable. 2. the red cross f'ed up my arm (nerve damage) so i'm not too keen on letting people jab needles into me, the money isn't worth it. 3. had a teammate who regularly went there for grocery money (until she pierced her ears and is now waiting for her time limit to expire) and although she said it is clean inside and not as bad as people say, it still is creepy inside and she has witnessed a guy stealing another SELLER's money. i can understand it staying around campus IF they get a significant number of students, but if not, move it further away from campus. out of sight, out of mind.
  8. i disagree... i say make it more like the olympics. give us electronic targets with scoreboards above our heads then put up some grandstands in the back. let everyone gasp when the leader shoots a bad shot etc. make things interesting.still... even we appreciate when people show up to our matches to see what we do (especially when their not family) :screwks:
