Sign me up for that 3* DT from Cleveland. Attracting 3* players in our own backyard is what we need to start doing if we ever hope to take that next step.

WMU has it trademarked.

I like the concept, but it is a little too out there for me to like in practice. I want to continue seeing Minn/Wisconsin, OSU/UM, and Indiana/Purdue the last week of the season (ok that last 1 I could do without). There is just so much tradition in those match-ups, not to mention Bama/Auburn, Florida/Florida State, etc if you are looking to expand to other conferences. Eliminating divisions and devising some formula that actually matches up the 2 best teams I'd be for. This year Wisconsin had the 4th best resume in the B1G yet it made the championship game. I'm going to assume said formula would have had OSU/PSU. Had Penn State won that game they would have handed OSU their 2nd loss and being 2-0 vs, them on the year, including a neutral field win would show they were the superior team. Had OSU won they would have improved to 12-1 to PSU 10-3 and would have avenged their tightly contested road loss earlier in the season. Either way there would have been no controversy.

Zips vs. Western Michigan- 1/6/17

It was a tremendous play and all, but what about that play where Martin pulled the spin move to shed 2 defenders then oop'd it to Poke for the slam? 2 highlight reel plays in the same game!!! What happened to the non exciting brand of basketball Akron team? -
Some players will definitely transfer, but him being a players coach might help him soften the blow. I still expect to see Minn bowling next year. In other news WMU right now...

Zips vs. Western Michigan- 1/6/17

I feel this Akron team has the ability to be as good, if not better, than any of the Akron teams that I've witnessed. When they're moving the ball around, their offense looks unguardedable unless you have a guy big enough and strong enough to guard Big Dog 1 on 1. In order to reach this potential we need to improve our perimeter defense and need 1, preferably 2, guys to step up to provide us more quality minutes off the bench in the post. Not bad for a team that many deemed the "worst Dambrot team ever" after the YSU game. -
I'd laugh, but that would just feel too wrong.

Yeah, part of the problem is that ticket prices are pretty much as low as they can get. If you're not willing to pay $60 for 14-15 home games, you're probably aren't going to pay $45-$50 for just the 9 MAC ones. What I will say is they should expand the 3 game pack they typically offer come February and offer it year round instead. Allow fans to pick any 3 games they want over the course and price it at $30. It would pretty much be buy 2 get 1 free. It might entice Joe Akron, who normally only cares about the Kent game, to pay the extra $15 to get tickets to 2 more games of his choosing.

I never understood this neither. I caught one earlier this year in the bleachers and gave it to a kid that looked disappointed after not getting one.

The real boost we could get from Kent is by playing them early in the season when the weather is still actually nice and we might be able to get the stadium 2/3 the way full. I get traditional rivalry week is the week of Thanksgiving but that doesn't translate well for the MAC as the fans are fickle and the games are played midweek.

90% equates to 13 teams using fudged numbers per season or 26 total teams fudging numbers over a 2 year cycle. I'd say that's a fair estimate. I probably should have clarified in my previous post.
-
Nobody here was commenting on why "numbers were down from last year" as we all knew the reason why. 90% of FBS use "actual numbers". What I'm tired of is hearing people regurgitate excuses. Failing to recognize the money pit the stadium has turned into will only leave us prone to making similar mistakes in the future. I've literally heard people on this forum say that Akron should spend large $$$ to build a 9k+ seat basketball arena even though only 1 MAC school averaged over 4,500 fans last season (Ohio at 6,010).
-
I'm just checking in to hear the excuses. We had great weather, we got off to a great start, we were coming off our best season in program history, and had decent expectations heading into this season. At a time when fewer and fewer people are going to live sporting events every year, we just need to accept we will never be able to consistently pack Infocision.

HoF voting in both football and baseball is flawed. Griffey should have been an unanimous selection in baseball, but wasn't because a handful of dudes think nobody should be since Cobb and Ruth weren't 50+ years ago. Not to mention they are holding out the best pitcher and hitter of my childhood (Bonds and Clemens). TO should already be in the HoF, but some 60 year old dudes took offense to him signing signing a football with a sharpie.
-
Actually I think you are right. That goes from be impressive to exceptional if that's the case.
-
Big Dog said he expects to have his masters by the time he leaves Akron. Getting a masters in 5 years is impressive for anyone, especially for a student athlete that has huge time commitments.
-
I agree. We might not be able to play through Hughes, at least not at this stage in his career, but I don't view him as a liability when he is out on the court. He's certainly better than Poke.

+1000 Even if they limited beer sales to just the upstairs kiosks to control distribution while limiting any additional overhead, they could easily net $1,000-$2,000 more per game in profit. Not to mention it might lead to more hot dogs and other things sold as more people would visit the concession stands.
-
I'd label TO as a shoe in. He's #2 in career receiving yards and 3rd in receiving TDs
-
I'd say it's the one who labels others as the fool when in reality they are the one that is the true fool. I've stated my case and you stated yours. I'd agree with your opinion, but then we'd both be wrong...
-
I also heard he talked about JAR renovations. For those of us at the game therefore couldn't watch the feed could you provide some bullet points?
-
Yes, lets just take my texts out of context and ignore anything that doesn't fit your narrative. You'd make an excellent politician. The below sentence immediately followed what you wrote. I'm defending the committee by defending the teams the committee picked. FPI, BCS Rankings, and pretty much every other objective metric agreed with the 4 teams that got in. Just because you don't agree with the teams they picked doesn't make them biased and incompetent as you seem to believe they are.
-
The reported attendance was 2,742. I actually feel that was a somewhat accurate figure as the STH reserved seats appeared to be mostly full from where I was sitting in the bleachers.
-
Your statement is mostly true, but not all G5 programs are rushing to play Bama, Oklahoma, or USC every year. They also let programs like Purdue, Kansas, Illinois, Indiana, Boston College, or even a middle of the road team like Minnesota buy them.
