Yeah, I quit reading as soon as I saw this. They clearly haven't watched the Zips play this season nor did a simple google search to see the Zips are conceding 37.6 ppg, which is tied for 112th in the nation. Edit: I guess compared to BGSU they are "good".

If tackling was their only problem, the defense would be fixable. They are just so undisciplined. There are countless times this season where a Zips LB got caught eyeing the QB in the backfield only to have a RB come out of the backfield and run right past him. We have been eaten alive on misdirection plays. A lot of this can hopefully be fixed with time and experience, but it is incredibly frustrating to see the same mistakes play after play; week after week. Edit: If we can't become a lock down D, we need to find ways to create turnovers.

I actually missed a small chunk of the game as I was out taking care of a few things. Can someone explain to me how that Kent player wasn't flagged for a horse collar tackle on MTB?

I understand why you might need to wait until halftime to change an entire defensive scheme, but why do you have to wait until after halftime to call a bubble screen to Lane or Natson or call a QB draw. It is clear those plays are already in the playbook, I've seen them run. In fact, wouldn't it make sense to call some high % passes early on to calm your new QBs jitters and build his confidence?

Gilbert has been fantastic. One of the few bright spots on this defense. That being said his high tackle total is more a testament to the fact the Zips D spends way too many snaps on the field.

I cut my cable in January so I have no stations now. I was tired of my cable bill going up a couple bucks every 2-3 months. Not disputing that it isn't part of the standard package now or maybe it never was. I just know I had it at one point and wasn't charged anything additional for it. Perhaps I got it as a promotional item when I signed up 4-5 years ago or perhaps I was grandfathered into a plan. I'm not entirely sure.

They really have no need for an extensive app like ESPN. They don't own enough content to justify that type of expenditure.

I don't have any hard numbers, but I do know it was part of my standard package when I had TWC. I'm willing to say it is available in well over 25% of households, however, I'm not sure if >25% households realize they have that channel in the 1st place.

Looks like we got another national TV game as I expected.

It looks like Akron is opening as an 8.5 point favorite.

By special I meant 10+ win team that receives some national recognition a la WMU. Potentially getting another 8 win season, which won't be an easy task, is great for Akron standards (which are incredible low) but I still wonder what could have been. The MAC West probable has the 3 best teams in the MAC this season. If we had last years defense to go with this years offense, I'm confident that we would be as good, if not better, than WMU and UT. Edit: Winning games close isn't what concerns me. Our defense getting shredded week after week while showing no signs of improvement is my concern. What does it matter if we make it out of perhaps the weakest division in all of FBS if we go to Detroit just to get run out of the stadium?

I'm beginning to lose faith that this defense will ever turn their season around. It's a shame because if we had last years defense with this years offense, we could be having a very special season.

Hopefully the D can force a turnover or get a quick 3 and out to set our offense up for good field position. I don't have faith in Chapman's ability to sustain long drives.
