  1. Sexual predator is a little strong but there's something wrong when u have a Plowden and that tubby O'NEAL on floor together
  2. Some love from the Kittens: (but still...Go Rockets!) RE: Around the MAC - Mens Basketball Edition Posted: 1/21/2022 7:51:19 AM Akron went into BG tonight and won by 25. Bryan Trimble Jr. went 10-14 from 3 on his way to 33 points. Akron also won on Tuesday 74-73 over WMU by going on an 11-0 run over the last 2 minutes. Akron improved to 8-1 at home. 3. Another one of those "were you there?" games. The "commentary" misses much of the game ending drama, including Eastern missing tons of FTs. Also, you can see Channel give his back for team at the end.
  4. Was that you standing the whole game behind the Zips bench?
  5. slight sarcasm.
  6. ok...i had two competing thoughts: 1. was the above 2. Was these guys were going to be totally pumped after the WMU comeback and were going to keep the momentum during the quick turnaround and blast into the Stroh Center. And, of course, the Zips own BG.
  7. Peaking too soon?
  8. I don' think the new AD gives points for "not being as bad as expected" but is vastly improved. they were predicted to be last in the MAC
  9. WMU was one of those games where you had to be there to understand what occurred. If you only look at WMU's record and didn't read the pre-game article which warned about these two amazing guards being 100% and ready to go, then his take is spot on. I will follow tonight's score on the lap top. Maybe catch replay on espn3 if they pull off an unexpected win.
  10. From the lame BG message board: Re: vs. Akron (1/20) Quote Post by Matty B » Thu Jan 20, 2022 10:13 am This ain't your father's Akron team coming into the Stroh tonight. They are nowhere near as good as their record indicates. Very winnable game tonight and we match up well against them, in the sense that they dont have a dominant PG and Plowden should be able to shut down their best offensive player, Ali Ali. I tried watching the 2ne half of their game vs a bad WMU team on Tuesday and legit fell asleep. Did read that they needed an 11-0 run late in the game to eek out a 1 point win at home vs the Broncos.
  11. solid prediction based on history. Plowden takes over in the last few minutes. Freeman fouls out. First 10-12 minutes Zips shoot 20-22% from the field and 1 of 12 from 3. On a positive note, Zips have won 30 of last 35 meetings. EDIT: Aziz and Freeman get hacked a few times early on and go 1-4 from the charity stripe. (I think that covers it)
  12. I will take BG by 9 or Akron by 3. No clue.
  13. I noticed that in the final two minutes, Gregg Tribble made the first 3 pointer and grabbed two loose balls which led to his assisting Ali's and Xavier's 3s.
  14. Arm chair QB: NIU player should have held up and used clock instead of the dunk. No timeouts, either.
  15. Apparently, these things can happen.
  16. I wouldn't put these guys near the frustration level of Kwan and Utomi.
  17. See v. EMU circa 2020! Zips weren't necessarily cold from 3 last night but the last few mins was a freak occurrence WHEN clearly the Zips smelled blood in the water which fueled their confidence. Watching that clip of the last 2 minutes is more fun than inspiring. Looked like 2 average teams playing in the first round of some low mid major conference tourney in front of only the die hard fans.
  18. Watch WMU's # 22 at 29 secs when Tribble runs after the ball. Zips got effing lucky.
  19. I resemble that remark 4 MAC teams will be on outside of the Top 8. at 0-6 WMU, may not be able to claw its way up and frankly I wouldn't want to see them again in a first round game.
  20. Miracle at the JAR. That was better ending than EMU in 2020, primarily because EMU sucked that entire game. Tonight WMU was on fire for 38 minutes. Interestingly, the Zips win over EMU in 2020 came after squeaking by at Athens followed by two losses in a row at home with Buffalo and at Kent. I remember thinking back then, like I did tonight, that all was lost. It's just so hard to know how this will play out. But the Zips antics of loafing for 15 minutes won't work against the better MAC teams of Kent and OU but the Zips could get away with it against Buffalo (without their coach and Mball), BSU, WMU, and Marshall (who is now on a 5 game losing streak) Watching replay, I noticed #22 for WMU made a couple screw ups on the final two in bounds plays or maybe he's a 10% FT shooter and they didn't want him to get the ball. I was absolutely convinced Zips were going to lose that one but I did have a fleeting thought that during the last few minutes Broncos' inexperience was all the Zips had going for them. Ali Ali is clearly Groce's "go to" guy at the end of the game. He got the last shot against Ohio State and he's also had the final shot to close out some halves. He and Trimble may still be getting their legs back.
  21. With games tonight, appears to be some separation in the MAC, assuming Buffalo would have beaten Central.
  22. Most important thing I heard: he said they could tell Broncos were panicking
  23. I was there. Was walking out but stuck it out in the bleachers
  24. Jesus H. CHRIST. THAT was effed up.
  25. Unfortunately, Groce has a few more years on his contract...at least I think he does
