I watched most of it. Essentially, in the first half Ball State was like Brian Trimble on steroids, hitting every conceivable 3 by every player all over the court. Toledo, as expected, got back in it (much like Zips did against OU) but Ball State continued to make the big plays while Toledo missed their last few. Reminder...if a team gets hot from 3 anything can happen.

I think their vulnerability is their arrogance. ball state held it together. that Sparks guy is one of the best freshmen.

There's joy in Nelsonville tonight. And a reminder...you never know.

And X missed both the FTs. So maybe some karma.

OT: Example of what can go wrong for a top seed in the tournament: Ball State is 9 of 14 from beyond the arc with 9 minutes to go in first half and up on Toledo by 18. It's a Whitford team so I assume they will collapse as this goes on. Edit: And on cue, Ball State cooling off really fast.

I've watched some Miami games. They will take it down to the last shot. They don't roll over.

Didn't think line up of Wynn, Clark. AZIZ, Dawson would last too long.

What I take from the Zips is that they have to work a lot harder than the other to score and defend. Trimble with ice on his knee.

And X loses 2 points with that miss.

I guess that prepares them for the possible 3 games in 3 days. But to win the tournament they need: 1. 3 games of that swarming defense we saw for a few minutes in Toledo and Trimble and someone else hitting 40% from beyond the arc. 2. Some good luck which would include an upset of one of the top 2 teams.

Miami was behind by 30 to both EMU and Ravenna. In both games they closed the gap to around 10-15 late in the second half. I thought I heard in Groce's show that Delante Brown has been out because of injury. That being said, unless Trimble is rested up and feels like making 3s tonight, I expect another low scoring ugly affair on national TV. I should be able to get there but I can't imagine many showing up, especially after the Toledo loss. Zips losses have been to the best teams in the league. They don't need to start losing to the bottom feeders or they could be in a first round game against OU or Toledo.

the team has come a long way. Dawson can be very explosive. Last night she made a 3 pointer and then a steal on successive WMU possessions and converted those to points. The other players also were good at knocking the ball away from the Broncos and getting rebounds. They can play like the best team in the MAC or play like a high school girls team. And if you think officiating is questionable in the men's games...I saw many like "WTF" no calls on both ends of the floor. The Akron guard palmed the ball right in front of the referee and the few people in the blue seats let out a collective gasp when the refs didn't blow the whistle. They also run all over each other...lots of contact.

Also, when they were up by 9 and rolling in the first half, Dawson (I think) missed 2 and just zapped their momentum.

He had me when he told the Mississippi reporters that they "can kiss his Yankee a$&." or was it "They will have to kick his Yankee a$& out of there". Either way.
