Class of '24 Recruits & Verbal Commitments
60zip replied to Blue & Gold's topic in Akron Zips Football Recruiting
Yes, Kyan is fast. I am a big St Eds fan. I have watched him for a few years and can say he has good hands, can really go up after a ball. He is what call and elastic player. He can twist turn into all sorts of positions and then catch the ball. I've seen him drop a couple but not many. A real threat, glad he is coming here. -

I believe Kyan Mason actually plays at St Eds in Lakewood not Genville -
One of my grandsons and I make one trip a year to a P5 game. This year it was Kentucky. I completely agree with the Captain and Mark. There was a day when I got around a bit better that the distilleries and a weekend stay would be the thing. This time down Saturday and back on Sunday morning. I have been to several P5 games and this one impressed me immensely. Fans treated us very well, got questions from the Kentucky users about the TD Tire. Ushers dressed very well in Blue Blazers, black tie, white shirt and black pants. The tailgating was awesome, and we made it to the Akron tailgate in green lot. I hope Kentucky comes to Akron. WE got several comments from Kentucky fans about Akron being much better than was thought. GO ZIPS. SEASON STARTS SATURDAY

I liked JD. I would have liked him to continue here at UA. He does deserve a lot of credit for lifting the program up. I was there for all those magical moments all the way to Detroit. Great tragedy for him and UA. GOZIPS

I hope you are right. I have no Idea how good this team will be. Given we have a real DI coaching staff we should be better than last year. Many times, it comes down to determination. One time a coach said " if you aren't going there to win, then dont get on the bus! We should have better talent this year but, now show what you've got in your heart. GO ZIPS

Position Preview (and updates) - Quarterback
60zip replied to catdaddyp's topic in Akron Zips Football
Thanks Captain. I am glad to hear some news from the coaching staff and their comments. This is a very good staff. I not only try my best to get to all the home games, I go on the road to at least one P5 game and sometimes one other. We hunger for a winning season and a championship. I just renewed my season tickets last week, kind of late as I can't get around like I used too and was not sure I could get someone to accompany me to each game. Still not absolute. A couple years ago, someone gave me a pass for lot 6 so i could get in and out well by myself. GO ZIPS -

I may have missed it, but what has happened with Marcus Moore from Massillon? -
Game # 5: vs. Bowling Green Falcons (Homecoming 2022)

I agree completely also. The Chest and the Tank held those teams together. Great coaches. I love watching coaches and how they respond to various situations on the sidelines. These two knew how to get the best from the players. I think we are at the beginning of great coaching from this staff. -
I had a similar experience when I tried to pay by phone. I got conflicting information on my next call after I discovered my payment was not fully made to my credit card. I think the young man on the other end was trying his best, but people are not on the same page. not encouraging.

Never heard of them. Is this Mobile ticking?
-
This has been asked before but did not see any reply, I may have missed. How many of these transfers are eligible to play this year?
-
Correction I should have said Coach Joe and Staff above.

My thinking is if you can upgrade, do it. I trust Coach Joe. May be bias but with grandkids at both St Ed's and Hoban I am close to both, and talent is not scarce there. Not real likely but wow if we could get Kilbane. What a motor this kid has. GO ZIPS. Hoping for Kilbane

A very good day for Akron football. Added Talent + Coaching + Support from Administration = Success. Not completely there yet but, on the way. To echo Coach Joe, " keep sawing wood". Go Zips

Grading the 22 Recruiting Class, and What Else is needed

Great post. I am sure that I do not have this much insight but loved your analysis. Looking forward to the season. Go Zips -
Back finally. AIM LOW AND YOU WILL FOR SURE HIT YOUR TARGET. AIM HIGH AND RISK AND GREAT THINGS ARE POSSIBLE EVEN IF NOT THE ORIGAINAL TARGET. IF YOU CAN IMAGINE IT, IT IS POSSIBLE

Good for Oscar. I wish him great success.😊

Years ago, I told the AD that we should scratch and claw our way out of the MAC and into the ACC. If we don’t someone from the MAC will beat us there. I thought with Bowden and the new staff we could succeed there in short order and the University would benefit tremendously. Now with Joe Morehead and this staff in football we have another chance at success in the ACC. I think the other athletic programs would benefit also and some could be competitive and succeed quickly. The student body would see growth.

Thanks, I missed it, I guess. Great day for Akron football. Looking forward to the trip to Detroit again at some point. Soon I hope. Go zips and thanks for all the great reporting from several of you folks. -

Does anyone know what the status of Ka'Marii Landers is? -
I personally like the Z or the running A on the helmet. But in the end, it's about winning and being competitive every time out no matter what you wear. But please nothing like Can't State
-
Only Kent State could come up with those awful uniforms. I hope they paid someone to come up with this. Maybe they could be held liable

I liked Brookhart, Moorehead and Getsy group too. The Zips had some real firepower. I am hopeful that if this all works out Moorehead can get some real good defensive minds and talent evaluators. One guy I like is Todd Stoud if he's interested. Imagine excellence because if you don't you never will be excellent. As I said what a great game day experience, when you go to a game and know you can win and in fact expect to win. GO ZIPS.
