  1. Irons would be able to transfer out and play immediately, if he chose to do so. Since he came from a JUCO, that didn’t count as his free transfer. In Adams’ case, he would have to sit a year if he transferred to another FBS school since he already used his free transfer. The NCAA will continue to allow the one free transfer rule for the foreseeable future. Fall athletes have until May 1st to enter the portal, unless there is a head coach change - then they would have until July 1st.
  2. Great pickup! Definitely a sleeper. Nice job by the staff getting in early on him. Hudl film linked below: https://www.hudl.com/video/3/16848795/617966bcbee0f606c4773b0c
  3. Thank you and I appreciate the feedback! My best guess as to who our scholarship WRs are: SJL Adams Golden Grimes Singleton Walker Gathings Scippio I suspect we’ll see some roster turnover after spring ball. Moorhead has alluded to it already. We might even lose a handful of talented guys, but it’ll be for better in the end.
  4. I don’t know the numbers for each team in college football. Nor do I know where I can find an accurate scholarship count for Akron - 247’s list is not correct. I know most Power 5 teams were/are over the limit due to last year’s senior class - and any players who were currently enrolled - getting an extra year of eligibility if they wanted it. The NCAA permits up to 25 scholarships to be given each year. For this year, each school received an extra scholarship to give for each player that transferred out up to 7 max. So if 7 or more players transferred out, a school would have up to 32 scholarships to give for this years class. However, not all schools give the full allotted amount every year as it is. As a way of getting around the numbers, blueshirting has gained popularity. It’s a way to add more players to the current year’s class, but the scholarship actually counts towards the following year.
  5. Agreed. That was an excellent class that Arth brought in. As far as Singleton and Walker go, they really need to be pushing towards 185 lbs to give themselves their best chance to make it through an entire season. Golden is already in that range and could be an X-factor this year, depending on how the dominos fall. Im really excited about Adams as well. We may land a few more like him as all teams have to get down to the 85 scholarship limit before the 2022 season starts. So that means more talented players, that haven’t quite lived up to their potential, will be entering the portal after spring ball.
  6. Thank you! I enjoy doing it and it helps me to get to know the roster more thoroughly. On a side note, I tried to like your post, but it looks like a technical glitch won’t let me. 😕
  7. Receiver was again the deepest position on offense, but the struggles at QB prevented a higher level of production in 2023. Alex Adams - [Senior, Returning] - (5.7) 3 ⭐️ - Former transfer from LSU. Adams was an explosive player in high school that hadn’t lived up to his potential at LSU. In his first year at Akron, that explosiveness returned and he was voted 1st Team All-MAC. Adams played in 11 games in 2022 and collected 63 receptions for 855 yards and 9 touchdowns. Adams spent the majority of 2023 injuried and only caught 22 passes for 188 yards and 2 touchdowns. Adams was held out during the 2024 spring game. HS FILM * Star Rating Take: It’s still early for Adams, but he’s definitely trending towards his original (5.7) 3 ⭐️ status. Bobby Golden - [Junior, Returning] - (5.4) 2 ⭐️ - Smaller WR with solid speed and some shiftiness. Golden played in 9 games on special teams and 7 games on offense in 2022. In 2023, Golden became the starting punt returner and also played in every game on offense. He finished the season with 17 receptions for 144 yards. Golden played in the 2024 spring game and was a starter in certain formations. HS FILM * Star Rating Take: TBD Myles Walker - [Redshirt Junior, Returning] - (5.3) 2 ⭐️ - Walker exhibits a fluid stride and gets up to his top end speed quickly. He did not see playing time in 2022, but was the surprise of the receiving corps during the spring game in 2023. Walker finished the season with 8 receptions for 66 yards and a touchdown. Walker was a starter in the 2024 spring game and flashes the ability to runs solid routes and catch the ball when it comes his way. HS FILM * Star Rating Take: TBD Justin Campbell - [Redshirt Junior, New] - (5.2) 2 ⭐️ - JUCO transfer who signed out of HS with Ball State. Campbell was second team all-conference at JUCO this past season and collected 23 receptions for 403 yards and 3 TDs. He knows how to use his tall frame and can make difficult catches. Runs well and is a willing blocker. Campbell was noticeable in the 2024 spring game and will help the team this year. JUCO FILM * Ahmarian Granger - [Junior, New] - (5.5) 3 ⭐️ (HS) / NR (Portal) - Transfer most recently from JMU (spring). Last played at Old Dominion. Granger brings speed to the wide receiving corps. He started a handful of games at ODU and provided the ability to stretch the field and was utilized on some wide receiver sweeps. Granger should immediately land on the two deep. Late post spring addition. Jarvis Rush - [Redshirt Junior, New] - (5.4) 2 ⭐️ - JUCO transfer. Rush collected 29 receptions for 318 yards and 2 TDs. He has some explosiveness and should push for immediate playing time. Rush has size, length, speed, and a wide catch radius. Rush arrived after the conclusion of the spring. JUCO FILM * Adrian Norton - [Sophomore, Returning] - (5.4) 2 ⭐️ - Norton played QB in high school his senior year. What stood out the most is his general playmaking ability, athleticism, and high upside potential. Norton forced his way into action his freshman year and will not redshirt. He played in 10 games and collected 9 receptions for 71 yards. Norton stood out in the 2024 spring game and is primed for an All-MAC year, assuming quarterback play is adequate. HS FILM * Star Rating Take: TBD Phaizon Wilson - [Redshirt Sophomore, Returning] - (5.6) 3 ⭐️ (HS) / NR (Portal) - Transfer from Grambling. Wilson had numerous P5 offers coming out of high school and chose Grambling (according to him) for the chance at playing time. He has a long frame and the ability to win 50/50 balls. Although Wilson is not a burner, he has plenty of athletic ability to create separation and make difficult catches. Wilson redshirted in 2023 and was held out of the 2024 spring game. HS FILM * Star Rating Take: TBD Israel Polk - [Redshirt Freshman, New] - (5.5) 3 ⭐️ (HS) / ((5.5) 3 ⭐️ (Portal) - Transfer from Pittsburgh. Polk is a smooth strider with deceptive speed and excellent body control. He did not play much during his freshman year at PITT, but has the potential to develop into an All-MAC caliber player. There is a ton of talent at wide receiver, so it remains to be seen how quickly Polk pushes for significant snaps. Polk was a post spring roster addition. HS FILM * Jean Louis - [Redshirt Freshman, Returning] - (5.3) 2 ⭐️ - Louis has great hands and excellent balance. He tends to make over-the-shoulder catches look easy when they can often be tricky. As expected, Louis redshirted in 2023. He looked like a receiver who is on the verge of being ready to contribute in the 2024 spring game. HS FILM * Star Rating Take: TBD Paul Davis - [Redshirt Freshman, Returning] - (5.5) 3 ⭐️ - Davis is a former Duke commitment out of Georgia. He has a college ready frame at 6’0” 195lbs and is a strong athlete. Davis’ best traits are probably his body control and excellent hands. He flashes a large catch radius and attacks the ball in the air. Davis does not seem that fast on film, yet defenders have a difficult time both chasing him down and tackling him. Davis redshirted in 2023. Like Louis, Davis looked like he is in the verge of being ready to contribute during the spring. HS FILM * Star Rating Take: TBD Kyan Mason - [Freshman, New] - (5.4) 2 ⭐️ - Mason is a long strider who has a lot of similarities to Shocky Jacques-Louis coming out of HS. He has sure hands, understands angles, and finds a way to get open. Mason also returned punts and kickoffs. He enrolled post spring. HS FILM * Isaiah Jones - [Redshirt Freshman, Returning] - NR - Preferred Walk-on. Jones has a nice sized frame at 6’3” 200lbs and will likely not see action outside of special teams for the first few years. Jones redshirted in 2023. Dominic Monds - [Freshman, New] - NR - Walk-on. New wide receivers coach JD Brookhart has already made his mark on this group with the post spring portal additions of Granger and Polk. Wide receiver will likely prove to be the most talented position on offense again, but consistent QB play is needed to throw them the ball. - JUCO Jacobi Moore did not make it to campus. 8. I rewatched Kellom’s film. I’m higher on him the second go round. I don’t think he’s at the same level as Norrils coming out of high school, but I think the staff landed a good one. I don’t know anything about Bone or Paxos, but I’m anxious to find out.
  9. The running game has been somewhat of an afterthought during most of Moorhead’s tenure . Perhaps more emphasis will be placed on running the ball in 2024. Jordan Castleberry - [Redshirt Senior, New] - NR (HS) / NR (Portal) - Grad Trasnfer from UT Martin. Castleberry brings experience and a ready made frame to contribute, but will likely compete for a backup role. Jordan Simmons - [Redshirt Junior, New] - (5.7) 3 ⭐️ (HS) / (5.5) 3 ⭐️ (Portal) - Grad Transfer from Michigan State. Simmons exhibits excellent vision and is a patient runner. He has a strong burst when hitting the hole and will run through arm tackles. Simmons does not have the top end speed of Lingard, but should collect his fair share of explosive plays in 2024. Simmons was the starting running back in the 2024 spring game and had the most explosive play from any of RBs. Charles Kellom - [Redshirt Sophomore, Returning] - (5.2) 2 ⭐️ - Kellom has flashed a blend of explosive ability and shiftiness in his limited playing time on offense. He was a key special teams contributor last year playing in 11 games, but played minimal snaps on offense. Kellom was the top backup during the 2024 Spring Game. He should collect his fair share of snaps on offense this coming season. HS FILM * Star Rating Take: TBD Marquese Williams - [Redshirt Freshman, New] - (5.7) 3 ⭐️ HS / (5.6) 3 ⭐️ Portal - Transfer from Minnesota. Williams was a high producer in HS and had multiple P5 offers. He is elusive and also a receiving threat out of the backfield. Williams did not see the field at Minnesota, though he should push for snaps this season. Williams was not overly impressive during the 2024 spring game and will need to display some improvement before stealing snaps from Simmons and Kellom. HS FILM. * Sean Patrick - [Freshman, New] - (5.4) 2 ⭐️ - Patrick is extremely shifty in the open field and understands how to press angles. He has a knack for making defenders miss with subtle movements. Patrick may not have elite speed, but his excellent feet and elusiveness in the open field makes up for it. Patrick was not enrolled for the 2024 spring game. HS FILM * Fahrell Freeman - [Freshman, New] - NR - Walk-on. HS FILM * Luke Reed - [Freshman, New] - NR - Walk-on. HS FILM * Replacing Lingard will be a tough task in 2024. That said, this room is deep. It was likely that one or two of the returning players would transfer out and it ended up being CJ Price and Blake Hester. Expect Simmons and Kellom to receive the bulk of snaps at running back this year. Scholarship Players: Jordan Simmons Charles Kellom Marquese Williams Sean Patrick Jordan Castleberry Added: Jordan Simmons Marquese Williams Sean Patrick Jordan Castleberry Removed: (5.5) 3 ⭐️ (TP) - Lorenzo Lingard - Graduation. 10. The QB position was an issue in 2023 and should be improved in 2024. Ben Finley - [Redshirt Junior, New] - (5.7) 3 ⭐️ HS / (5.4) 2 ⭐️ Portal - Grad transfer from California. Finley was a 3 ⭐️ commitment to NC State out of HS before transferring to California. He is a grad transfer with two years of eligibility remaining. Finley had a propensity to take chances and turn the ball over in the past. He does not have quite as big of an arm or as much mobility as Bullock. However, Finley throws a much better ball. Finley looked head and shoulders better than the other quarterbacks in the 2024 Spring Game and should be QB1 going into the season. HS FILM. - Portal Offers: Utah State. * Tahj Bullock - [Redshirt Junior, Returning] - (5.6) 3 ⭐️ HS / (5.5) 3 ⭐️ Portal - Former transfer from Virginia Tech. Bullock is a true “dual threat” quarterback with size and a big arm, but struggled with accuracy in 2023. Bullock finished the year 32 of 66 for 271 yards passing and 3 touchdowns versus 3 interceptions. He also ran 62 times for 165 yards and 4 touchdowns. Bullock again struggled to complete passes in the 2024 Spring Game. Unless something changes, he is the backup and a situational player. College Film and HS Film * Star Rating Take: TBD. - Portal Offers: Hampton, Delaware State, Northern Iowa, Fordham, East Tennessee State, Utah Tech. * Brayden Roggow - [Freshman, New] - (5.3) 2 ⭐️ - Early enrollee. Roggow is a tall quarterback with some mobility. He was very successful at the HS level and throws a catchable ball. Roggow looked solid in the 2024 Spring Game (for a freshman) and is a more polished passer than Bullock or Wasel coming out of HS. HS FILM. Johnny Brookhart - [Redshirt Freshman, Returning] - NR - Walk-on. HS FILM Finley should be QB1 as Bullock and Wasel did not seem much improved during the 2024 Spring Game. Wasel decided to transfer out and the staff opted not to bring in another scholarship quarterback. The concern at this point is if Finley goes down, there may not be another quarterback on the roster capable of winning many games. Added: Ben Finley (TP) Brayden Roggow (HS) Removed: (5.5) 3 ⭐️ (JUCO) - DJ Irons - Graduation NR - Jeff Undercuffler - Graduation (5.2) 2 ⭐️ (TP) - Dijon Jennings - TP = Weber State (5.4) 2 ⭐️ (TP) - Ryan Jankowski - TP = UMASS (5.4) 2 ⭐️ (TP) - Steele Wasel - TP = Oklahoma (walk-on) Before 2022 season: NR - Calvin Cloud - Walk-on. 11. Thank you for the kind words and also starting this thread! It’s great to be here and I’m excited to talk Akron football. I think the program is on the rise and watching this team will be fun. It’s hard for me to give an overall grade on the prep and transfer classes because I think a lot of that has to do with talent brought in coupled with needs on the roster. I don’t know the roster as well as some at this point, but judging solely on potential, I think the staff did a phenomenal job recruiting on such short notice. I wasn’t able to watch all the games last year, but from the ones I did watch not many players on defense stood out to me. I suspect it was due to a culmination of scheme, fit, talent, and coaching. I know there must be at least a handful of talented players returning from last year’s team and I expect the new staff to get the best out of them. It’s difficult to glean much from the short video of spring practice #1, but a few things did stand out. If the defense plays a 3-4 scheme, I think #6 Curtis Fann will be a perfect fit at OLB. He definitely has the size and length. During the one drill we saw of him, he looked physically impressive. Another takeaway was the size of transfer #99 Devon Robinson. He may be listed at 260, but he looks bigger than that to me. We were able to see one drill with him and he certainly has the physical ability. He’s exactly the type of player we’d want playing DE - assuming he lives up to his potential. Last year, our interior DL was moved out of their gaps or blown back into the LBs far too often. To add on to that issue the LBs misread, took themselves out of the play, or flat out missed tackles more than anyone would like to see. I’m hoping the addition of players like Curtis Harper will help improve the interior line play and give our ILBs a better opportunity to make a play. The OLBs didn’t flash the type of explosiveness we want to see coming off the edge. Hopefully, another year with S&C combined with a new staff will improve that area as well. On the back end, tackling was a bigger issue than it should have been and the DBs were frequently put into bad positions. They were asked to press up on WRs without much pressure from the front 7 or dropped into deeper coverage which in essence relinquished the catch. If we are going to give up the catch, then we’d better be able to make the tackle. Some of the above issues won’t be fixed by anything other than recruiting more gifted and explosive players. However, all the returning players can show improvement. I expect plenty of fireworks offensively this year, even with losing Gibson, Mathison, and Mumpfield. The biggest question I have is who will fit best on the OL. Moorhead’s system requires a lot of pulling and sometimes combo pulling. Not all of last year’s group will excel in that area, so which one of the freshmen will step up and snag playing time? I expect the starting 5 OL to look different by the end of the season than the group we see start the season. Just by design, I think we’ll see a better use of Irons skill set and for our RBs, WRs, and TEs to have ample opportunity to make plays in space. I didn’t mean to veer too far off of recruiting, so if you want to keep discussing individual players we can definitely do that.
  12. Thanks for posting! It’s just helmets, but #6 (Curtis Fann?) looks the part. Nice size and moves really well. If he moves the same way with pads on, he’ll see plenty of action this year. It was just one play but TE #25 better do a better job than that if he wants to see the field. The one play was an RPO, which is a staple of Moorhead’s offense. Looks like it was Joey Marousek at QB and Cam Wiley at RB. Couldn’t see the receiver who caught the ball.
  13. I can’t speak to the information they have listed on the website. I’d like to assume it’s correct, but it may be wrong if they pulled it from Rivals or 247 as those sites sometimes have conflicting information. In any case, here is the film from JUCO you requested. He’s definitely developed some since his high school days. https://www.hudl.com/video/3/9458953/617f09dfb019130b289d8b75
  14. That’s a shame. I know the first two days will be helmets only, so I’m sure a lot of the news will be about who is taking leadership roles, etc. When pads come on is what I’m most interested in, but if news is as sparse as you say I guess any news is better than no news. Hopefully, the staff will use social media to their advantage and post clips from practice.
  15. Which news outlet gives the best coverage for Akron football?
  16. No, I should have posted the same for the transfers. Although, most of the transfers have college film available somewhere on the internet as well. Just have to do a little more searching for it.
  17. Good to be here! Despite what it may seem, I’m not looking for what can go wrong. Recruiting is a different beast in the fact that so much can change before signing day. It’s exciting to know this staff has a keen eye for talent. For the roster to get over the hump and into elite status, we’ll have to hang on to players like Wassel who may soon be pursued aggressively by Power 5 schools. It’s a good problem to have. I watched film on all of the recruits that the previous staff had verbal commits from and I can’t say there was much concern losing any of them to bigger programs. Things are definitely headed in the right direction!
  18. I hope you’re right! I didn’t watch all the games last year, but from the games I did see I think the defense will be the liability and will need to take a big leap forward for any bowl hopes. I believe the offense will be improved with Moorhead’s scheme and we’ll see more designed QB runs. I really like Norills at RB and I think he and Irons will flourish in this system. I think Grimes will also have the opportunity for a breakout year. Moorhead likes to keep the same personnel in the game and slide those players into different positions to create mismatches, so one of the TEs will have a chance to make plays from in-line, slot, and split end. I suspect that was a selling point to TJ Banks. The OL will be asked to do a lot of pulling and I’m guessing that’s one reason why Moorhead really keyed in on agile OL in this class.
  19. This kid is impressive. With QBs, it’s always hard to know how successful they’ll be at the next level as so much of it is mental. Assuming Wassel picks things up quickly, he’ll be an excellent addition. He has plenty of arm strength, always keeps his eyes down field, and can efficiently scramble when he needs to. Its pretty clear this staff is targeting mobile quarterbacks. My concern is the ability to hang on to him as more offers are likely to come if he has a big senior season. https://www.hudl.com/video/3/11660442/61b13a44d21bb50410a1a351
  20. @Ham I guess you could say I have a fondness for a rebuild. I was an AD at the high school level for 8 years and coached for 13 years. One of those jobs I built the program from the ground up and the other was a turnaround. I’ve been out of athletics for the past 5 years and have recently rekindled my passion for football. I’ll probably get back into athletics in some capacity, but for now I’m satisfied with being a fan. I recently moved to Ohio, so Akron is my local team of choice. It’s easy to see the difference in the type of players coach Moorhead is bringing in vs his predecessor. They won’t all work out, but the potential is there.
  21. With Spring Ball kicking off tomorrow, I thought I’d go ahead and post my opinion on the prep signees. This is strictly going off their hudl film, as I haven’t seen any of them play in person. Prep Signees: QB - Dijon Jennings = Great athlete and very elusive. Jennings would most likely develop into a dynamic WR if QB didn’t work out. His throwing motion is inconsistent, but he flashes the ability to keep plays alive with his feet. RB - Charles Kellom = Reads the cutback lanes well and runs hard. He’ll need to add mass on his frame to hold up at D1. It’s always good to recruit the home state and Kellom will add depth to the RB position. WR - Bobby Golden = Smaller WR that can flat out fly. Golden is a prototypical slot receiver who can take the top off a defense. As far as year one goes, he’ll likely get some looks as a returner on special teams and may see the field at WR depending on his development and team need. TE - Marquell Darnell = Tall athlete with excellent size. Darnell was mostly split out wide in high school, so it’ll take some time to learn how to play as an in-line TE. He flashes solid hands and often out jumped DBs in high school. The potential is there to develop into a playmaker, but it probably won’t be in year one. OC - Tyhler Williams = Underrated interior lineman that brings Center to Guard value. Williams has been well coached at the high school level and will be ready to contribute as a freshman. He’s very agile, strong, and uses leverage well. OG - Keylen Davis = Wide bodied interior lineman that is strong and agile. Davis brings an aggressive mindset and is looking to pancake defenders at every opportunity. He brings Center to Guard value and is the one of most physically ready OL to compete for starting minutes in the prep class. OT - Ka’Marri Landers = Big bodied OL that is unusually mobile for a player his size. He’s an extremely underrated offensive lineman that brings guard to tackle value. Landing a player out of high school with Landers talent and ability is huge. Once he adjusts to the speed of D1 football, he’ll become a stalwart on the offensive line and has the potential to develop into an all MAC player. OT - Jourden Hale = Massive offensive tackle that overpowered defensive linemen at the high school level. Hale exhibits excellent size, balance, and aggressiveness. He’ll need to work on his technique, and tune up his body, before he starts contributing on a consistent basis. DT - Kiawan Murphy = Stout and wide bodied DT, similar in build to transfer Curtis Harper. Murphy has been well coached at the high school level and gets out of his stance quickly. He usually overpowered OL at the high school level, but also flashed plenty of agility. ILB - Bryan McCoy = Aggressive, hard hitting, inside linebacker. McCoy’s strength is in the run game. He quickly diagnoses where the ball is going and gets there in a hurry. When chasing down the play, he’s explosive upon tackling the ball carrier. However, his ability to drop into coverage and defend the pass is questionable and will need improving.
  22. Thanks @Blue & Gold! Glad to be here. I just happened to stumble across this forum and it’s great to see so many active posting Zips fans. Looking forward to spring ball and what this year brings!
  23. I became a Zips fan after moving to Ohio last year. At times, the games were difficult to watch and the incoming recruiting class didn’t provide much hope. Joe Moorhead has quickly changed that outlook. I don’t expect the Zips to win the MAC this coming year, but the 2022 class is a great start towards that goal. My thoughts on the 2022 transfers are below. I’ll give my thoughts on the incoming freshmen at a later date. Transfers: RB - Cameron Wiley = Transfer from Minnesota. Wiley was a backup for the Gophers who flashed at times. He displays patience, vision, and power when running the ball and could develop into an every down back. He may not turn into an all conference player, but should give the running game more production. WR - Shocky Jacques - Louis = Senior transfer from Pittsburgh. Shocky was a part-time starter at Pitt and is a proven receiver at the Power 5 level. He has demonstrated the ability to make difficult catches in his career and will go up and get the ball. He should slide right in as a day one starter. WR - Alex Adams = Transfer from LSU. Adams was an explosive player in high school that hasn’t lived up to his potential. If the staff can motivate and develop Adams, he’ll be an all-MAC player before he graduates. TE - TJ Banks = Transfer from West Virginia where Banks was a backup TE. He mostly played split out as a WR in high school, so learning to be an in-line TE at the D1 level was an adjustment. Banks exhibits a large catch radius and a big bodied target for the QB. If he can pick up the nuances of blocking, he’ll be a weapon at Akron. OL - Max Banes = Transfer from Houston where he was a part-time starter. Banes brings Guard to Tackle value to Akron. He has excellent size, demonstrates great feet, and runs extremely well for an offensive lineman. He should be a starter from day one. DE - Devon Robinson = Transfer from Memphis, where he did not play. Robinson was originally a scholarship player at Mississippi State and then walked on at Memphis. This is the definition of a boom or bust opportunity. It’s worth the staff taking a chance on Robinson as he possesses immense talent and could be an all MAC player if he lives up to his potential. DE - Victor Jones = Senior transfer from Wyoming. Jones played DE and DT during his time at Wyoming. He was a productive backup who will bring experience and provide immediate defensive line depth. DT - Curtis Harper = Senior transfer from Syracuse. Harper was a productive backup who will likely be a starter before the year ends. He’s strong, agile, and should cause problems for interior OL in the MAC. OLB - Tim Terry = Senior transfer from Buffalo. Terry was a multi-year starter at Buffalo and will look to claim a starting spot at Akron to close out his career. Having a player with Terry’s experience can only help the LB corp. CB - Cameron Threatt = JUCO transfer via way of Mississippi State. Threatt is a long and rangy DB that’ll be able to line up anywhere in the secondary. He’ll provide immediate depth as well as push for a starting position. S - KJ Martin = Transfer from West Virginia. Another long and rangy DB except Martin is a true S. He was mostly a backup at WVU, but did start a handful of games. Martin is excellent when coming to help from the weak side, but will need to shore up his tackling technique when facing head on. He’ll provide depth and push for starting minutes.
