  1. In the past he hasn’t used much FB. He mostly stays in the 11 personnel - meaning 1 TE and 1 RB. He’ll move the TE all over the field though. The TE may be in-line, set as a wing, split-end, or in the slot. Occasionally Moorhead will run 2 TE sets, but that’s not the norm for his offense.
  2. Thanks. Added. Portal activity has picked up the pace again and it’s hard to keep up.
  3. That’s a great question and one I’m not sure about. @LZIp has a running tracker, but it’s hard to know which former walk-ons are now on scholarship. There is an 85 scholarship limit for 2022 and we can bring in 32 players on scholarship for this year’s recruiting class. Probably means we will have some players transfer out soon.
  4. Did Stallworth make it in with this class? Not sure how I missed him.
  5. We haven’t heard much about him, but Quevan Lawson physically looks the part from that short clip. I love the way Ty Durant stayed with the play. That was impressive hand-eye coordination on display.
  6. Sorry, this should have been under the 2022 thread. I got a little too ahead of myself due to my excitement.
  7. What a massive pickup! He’s an athlete playing on the OL and can play anywhere on the OL. He’ll have 1 year of eligibility left. It all starts up front and the Zips are going to surprise a lot of people this year.
  8. Add OL Anthony Whigan to the committed list. Edit - He entered in January, but his commitment bumped his activity to today. Either way, great pickup!
  9. There have been multiple comments from this staff implying that the previous coaching staff did a poor job or had the players inefficiently conditioned. Can’t really argue that if solely going off the team stats or overall record, but not everything done by the previous staff was poor. I hope this staff - and I think they will - backs up this talk with excellent play in the field. I was going to adjust my thoughts accordingly on a 4 man front scheme, but this is the second article I’ve seen mention a “multiple” front, so I guess I’ll wait and see. Sounds like they still don’t know for sure and are letting what the players do best dictate what will be ran.
  10. Agreed. It seems like every video clip that’s been produced has Wiley in there somewhere. From all the reactions on twitter and the types of recruits that are visiting, it’s clear that Moorhead has something brewing. I’m trying to find a way to make it to the SG, but I don’t know if it’ll happen. I sent a message to the official twitter account if the game would be televised or streamed by the school, but haven’t received a response. I’m going to email someone in the athletics department the same question. If smaller DII schools can stream games, it would seem like Akron would as well.
  11. Kylon Wilson was on campus. I’m not sure if we’ve offered, but I suspect we will. HS highlights are below. He’s a smaller player, but he’s a playmaker.. https://www.hudl.com/video/3/12905534/61adce44ab920a0830969d0d Jean Louis III was also on campus. No offered listed yet, but one is probably coming. HS highlights are below. https://www.hudl.com/video/3/14439802/6151a9e9479826088cc6e276 Darius Whiteside II was on campus last week and has an Akron offer. https://www.hudl.com/video/3/12842167/618fee97b3c87201448e9ac9 Michael Kilbane was also on campus last week and has an offer, but we have some serious competition. He already has 11 Power 5 offers and 22 total according to Rivals. https://www.hudl.com/video/3/13111868/61744021386df7012c82faab Jake Cook was also in, who we’ve offered, but he’s a rising sophomore. If I were a betting man I’d bet he will see some Power 5 offers soon. https://www.hudl.com/video/3/16071032/617d9518041e480cacf231c2 Marcus Moore Jr was on campus with some teammates. He has an Akron offer. https://www.hudl.com/video/3/15582505/61375f08e97ac2057491415e Andrew Marshall was also on campus. He has an Akron offer. Listed as WR and OLB, but he’ll be a linebacker. https://www.hudl.com/video/3/12911769/61a54636f5600308e4ba437b
  12. I don’t know much about either of them. Morgan’s track record makes me question what’s going on with him. 2 years at MSU, transfers to UK for a year, transfers to Miami of Ohio, and now in the portal again. Chandler led a Big 12 team in tackles last year with 110 total, so I’d like to think he’d be able to step right in and produce here. I’m certain there will be some more transfer activity after spring ball. This staff sounds determined to reshape this roster one way or another - by internal development or bringing in more portal players.

  14. Good question. Ognenovic is gone after this year no matter what. I’m wondering if there will be 1 or 2 scholarship tight ends transfer out before the 2022 season begins. Also, it’s possible some of the scholarship tight ends listed on the roster aren’t at spring ball and we haven’t been notified as of yet.
  15. Interesting offer. He has some sneaky athleticism and length. It’s clear this staff is targeting OL and TEs that are fairly athletic, have long frames, and possess the ability to add on plenty more mass. Definitely a developmental type player, but could turn out to be a productive one in a few years.
  16. Haha! Whatever gets the ball rolling! We’re all hungry for more information and it’s good to see some being produced. Everything I put on the board is just opinion and speculation from the small amount of film and info. available to us. I’d love to be able to attend the practices, but living 2 hours away prevents that.
  17. Good question. Although if anything the rules would be loosened as opposed to tightened as the NCAA is losing their control - especially over Power 5 schools - with each passing year. Currently a kid can change his verbal commitment as much as he wants, but once he signs he’s obligated to attend the school he signed with. However, if there is a head coach change, the recruit can request his release and the school can grant the release. Where it gets messy is when a recruit signs and doesn’t qualify for acceptance. He’ll still count towards the 25 yearly scholarship limit for the school (except in 2022 where it could be up to 32 scholarships). A way around that is blueshirting - in essence borrowing a scholarship from the following year - or potentially giving a former walk-on who is already on the roster a scholarship.
  18. Sorry, I’m not sure I understand your question. Kids can be offered scholarships at any time in high school (or younger in a handful of cases) but there are rules determining how much and what type of contact coaches can make with the prospect.
  19. Wiley definitely looks bigger than 180lbs in the clips we’ve seen. What I can’t grasp is the difference in the reported weights. It’s not just 5 or 10 pounds we’re talking about, but 35lbs gained in one offseason? Regardless, I’m excited to see how this group performs in 2022.
  20. Agreed. Not to say Arth didn’t land some talent, but compared to the linemen Moorhead is bringing in, this recruit doesn’t quite fit the bill. He does have height and length, so that’s something to build on. @LZIp Even if Davis does not make it to campus, he still counts towards 2022 scholarship limit if he already signed his letter of intent. That shouldn’t be an issue though, as we can offer up to 32 scholarships for 2022 - assuming the school and athletic department allow it.
  21. Do you mean high school senior season or college senior season? If you mean college, an offer can’t be “officially” made to a player until the player has entered the portal.
