  1. I won't pretend to know who is/isn't willing to come to the JAR or if any of these opponents would interest people. Cleveland State,Youngstown State - If we are going to play a Horizon League (or similar level) team, let it be regional foes. If nothing else, you'd potentially draw more road fans. Xavier, Cincinnati, Dayton - I'm guessing none of these schools will play us, but maybe if we offered a 2-for-1 or even 3-for-1? Duquesne - Obvious connections to the staff there and I think would be a good, competitive game most years. All in all, the options are unfortunately probably pretty limited.
  2. Of the opponents below, who were fans going to have strong interest in going to see? Ohio Wesleyan Lamar Omaha Alabama State Northern Kentucky Suny-Brockport South Alabama South Alabama was it for me, personally. Now, I went to most of these because I'm a Zips hoops junkie, but the reality is that this non-conference home schedule wasn't moving most fans, and certainly not the average fan. It didn't help that three of the games were in one weekend, either.
  3. Not to rehash old discussions, but his father had a significant impact on this decision, too.
  4. I think this is a leverage play. Groce knows cuts are coming at UA. I'm betting he wants to avoid complacency from the program in regard to that plus support of the Collective and the program in general. UA took KD for granted for a long time, and I'm sure JG saw that play out. I'd be stunned if he left now, personally.
  5. Kind of wondered if this was the case. Seems like a great young man and I didn't see anything to suggest any animosity from either he or the team. I wish him well.
  6. I don't want to hi-jack the thread, but I will say a few quick things: 1) It's less about being able to afford it than it is something most parents may choose not to buy. 2) That's a bad target demographic for jersey sales, IMO 3) No youth sizes being available will limit much if the sales for kids. Happy they're doing it though and looking forward to seeing what else they cook up!
  7. A Cavs jersey will run $120 for adult sizing, but only $90 for youth. Basketball jerseys are typically worn by middle school through college-age kids. Maybe things have changed, but I certainly couldn't afford $159 jerseys as a poor college kid and I don't see many parents shelling out $159 for a jersey their kid will grow out of in a year. Again, I'm thrilled they're doing more things like this, because it's sorely needed - I just don't think they'll sell more than a handful at that price point. We can certainly agree to disagree on that.
  8. I can't imagine he's being cut unless that injury was a career-changing one. He was a starter before he got hurt.
  9. He posted an Instagram story yesterday that looked like he was at a mall in Columbus. No activity otherwise on his socials.
  10. I'm not sure what to tell you - they use NET.
  11. One fascinating aspect to all of this is how playing time shakes out. Our past transfers have typically been guys who were blocked and weren't going to play much, if at all, if they stayed. Right now, we have: Lyles/MMK N. Johnson/Mahaffey Okonkwo/Brisco Scott/Hardman T. Johnson/Young But we will have 2 open scholarships (maybe 3 if Harris leaves), and we obviously want to get better. How Groce manages all of this will be something to watch.
  12. I'm going to assume Perkins and Henderson are going to be redshirts. So 2 open scholarships, 3 if Harris doesn't return, and the ability to pitch being a part of a team aiming to 3-peat in the conference and go to the tournament for the 4th time and 5 years. Let's gooooooo!
  13. Josiah Harris is the only scholarship player who hasn't posted anything tonight.
