  1. I've been reading up on the changes to the scholarship limits and one thing I found is that the roster cap is 15, including walk-ons. So, while it's true that Akron is able to offer 15 total scholarships, they can not have both 15 scholarship players and walk-ons. Given that Halligan posted that he was returning, I believe that means we only have 2 roster spots available. 1-N. Johnson 2-T. Johnson 3-Okonkwo 4-Lyles 5-Scott 6-Young 7-Hardman 8-MMK 9-Mahaffey 10-Brisco 11-Perkins 12-Henderson 13-Halligan 14-? 15-? 2. You definitely have to go back several years to find wins like this: 2016-17 - Houston 2015-16 - Arkansas 2014-15 - USC and South Carolina 2012-13 - Penn State 2007-08 - Florida State
  3. I think this is a really underrated point. Quad determination is a huge factor now in scheduling.

  5. I always assumed part of the redshirt process was being respectful to the players in not burning a year of eligibility if he's not going to see the floor.

  8. I'm continuing to update the original post here for those who are interested.
  9. I won't pretend to know who is/isn't willing to come to the JAR or if any of these opponents would interest people. Cleveland State,Youngstown State - If we are going to play a Horizon League (or similar level) team, let it be regional foes. If nothing else, you'd potentially draw more road fans. Xavier, Cincinnati, Dayton - I'm guessing none of these schools will play us, but maybe if we offered a 2-for-1 or even 3-for-1? Duquesne - Obvious connections to the staff there and I think would be a good, competitive game most years. All in all, the options are unfortunately probably pretty limited.
  10. Of the opponents below, who were fans going to have strong interest in going to see? Ohio Wesleyan Lamar Omaha Alabama State Northern Kentucky Suny-Brockport South Alabama South Alabama was it for me, personally. Now, I went to most of these because I'm a Zips hoops junkie, but the reality is that this non-conference home schedule wasn't moving most fans, and certainly not the average fan. It didn't help that three of the games were in one weekend, either.
  11. Not to rehash old discussions, but his father had a significant impact on this decision, too.
  12. I think this is a leverage play. Groce knows cuts are coming at UA. I'm betting he wants to avoid complacency from the program in regard to that plus support of the Collective and the program in general. UA took KD for granted for a long time, and I'm sure JG saw that play out. I'd be stunned if he left now, personally.
  13. Kind of wondered if this was the case. Seems like a great young man and I didn't see anything to suggest any animosity from either he or the team. I wish him well.
  14. I don't want to hi-jack the thread, but I will say a few quick things: 1) It's less about being able to afford it than it is something most parents may choose not to buy. 2) That's a bad target demographic for jersey sales, IMO 3) No youth sizes being available will limit much if the sales for kids. Happy they're doing it though and looking forward to seeing what else they cook up!
  15. A Cavs jersey will run $120 for adult sizing, but only $90 for youth. Basketball jerseys are typically worn by middle school through college-age kids. Maybe things have changed, but I certainly couldn't afford $159 jerseys as a poor college kid and I don't see many parents shelling out $159 for a jersey their kid will grow out of in a year. Again, I'm thrilled they're doing more things like this, because it's sorely needed - I just don't think they'll sell more than a handful at that price point. We can certainly agree to disagree on that.
  16. I can't imagine he's being cut unless that injury was a career-changing one. He was a starter before he got hurt.
  17. He posted an Instagram story yesterday that looked like he was at a mall in Columbus. No activity otherwise on his socials.
  18. I'm not sure what to tell you - they use NET.
