  1. Enrique, Romeo, LCJ, are 3 that I am set for sure on. If were talking best 5 overall then Zeke has to be in then. But in terms of creating a solid 1-5 I'd do Steve Mcnees and might be a surprise to some but Daniel Utomi.
  2. Will be interesting to see what Groce does with the 3 extra scholarships that have opened up. Getting a 1 or 2 guard is by far the most important thing for this team right now. I would think it would have to be an appetizing situation for transfers with guys like Freeman, Hunter, and Dawson bringing experience and a damn good frontcourt back next year.
  3. Would be very surprised to see him not enter as well, have had that thought in my mind for the last couple months since I haven't seen him get major minutes at any point. I had the pleasure/displeasure of playing against him in HS, dude can flat out ball but was still surprised WVU threw him an offer, don't blame him for taking it. Always thought he would be a quality piece at Mid major level.
  4. I think Garvin is a great glue guy to have on the team, like it was pointed out last year in both tournaments he played a key role and I think back to this year at home against Kent. He can play in those big time moments. Is he gonna give you 30 or 20 like X or Enrique? No, but he is damn sure gonna make an impact on the game, him and Dawson I feel are very similar in the toughness and experience they bring to the program. I think Tavari does have greater upside in the future but I would love for Garvin to stay around for that veteran presence and scrappiness. Being injured for a portion of the year also did not play into his favor.
  5. I don't understand why people are so up in arms about him leaving after not playing a minute, I am sure John Groce, who I consider to be a very good basketball coach, looked at plenty of options in the portal. There is a lot of factors that go into getting a guy to transfer to a mid major program, making sure he's the right fit, having him actually buy into the program and also make sure he is not a problem off the court. That's what his teams are built on, there was no reason to go out and get say another Trimble just because they could. They had an open scholarship and chose to throw it at a kid who maybe stuck around and would get to his potential but it didn't work out, after seeing what Enrique has become you truly never know who could fall into your lap. Main thing is, all major contributors on this years team with remaining eligibility are coming back as of now, it frees up a scholarship if the right fit does come around from the portal. Wish Prince the best and hope he finds a good home and has a solid career.
  6. Zips open up as 7 point favorites against the Bulls
  7. Enjoy the last few games of X, cause man am I gonna miss this guy.
  8. That was by far one of the best experiences that I've had at a sporting event in general, I was hyped up about this game weeks in advance and it still exceeded expectations. Even a little sweeter being a current student, may have thrown an F Kent here and there but it was mainly the booze talking. Castaneda showing us he is the POY and Freeman telling us that he has it next year. Clarke was absolutely outstanding last night, glad to see him returning to form after a strong finish last year. Getting to the line and knocking down 80% was huge, Freeman was 10-12!!. Really hoping there were a few recruits at the game or at least paying attention to it, that is prime mid major basketball, you aren't going to find that atmosphere and level of play at 95% of schools at this level and a good chunk of P5s. Will enjoy the hell out of this one but it won't get any easier, move onto Toledo and were gonna have to see these punks at their place and most likely Cleveland, proud to be a Zip.
  9. Hard to think of the last time I was this excited for a regular season matchup between these two, has all the prerequisites for an amazing game, cant wait to be inside the JAR for this one
  10. Just watching him against Massillon at Info thinking man how did we let this kid out of the city limits let alone to somewhere like Buffalo, easily one of the best RBs I have ever seen in HS
  11. Terence Thomas Jr has signed with the Zips, originally went to Purdue before quickly entering portal this last fall. Product of Boardman HS class of 2022
  12. Consider me surprised, not invincible after all
  13. Man did I miss X while he was out, but does make me think about how in trouble we are if he has an off night against a team like Kent or Toledo
  14. Regarding Morris I am not worried about character at all, I myself am not too far removed from the dumb decisions a high school kid can make. Was just one of the first things that popped up and figured I would share. Kid is very athletic and hopefully develops into a solid contributor in the near future.
  15. Emoni Bates has scored 29 straight points for the Eagles in the first half while facing Toledo, slightly better than the show he put on against the Zips
  16. A list of players that I expect to commit/sign Terence Thomas- ATH/WR 5'10, 185. Attended Boardman HS class of 22, signed with Purdue but opened recruitment back up during this pas fall. His twitter is not very active but did post saying he has 4 years of eligibility and a redshirt year. Amin Mimouni- 6'4, 265 OLB/DE, Independence CC, offered and visited Akron on 1/15. Looks like we are only FBS offer, multiple FCS Delvin Morris- we have pretty much covered him, all signs pointing towards him coming here. Teremun Lott- 6'0, 170, CB, Inlet Grove HS (FL), currently an Illinois commit but has not signed NLI, offered by new coaching staff early last year. Recently offered by Rutgers
  17. https://wtaw.com/13-teenagers-arrested-for-organized-criminal-activity-in-bryan-after-shooting-paintballs-at-the-wrong-people/ a little google search on Morris and I found this pretty quickly
  18. Will always scratch my head when thinking about Ali, was one of the best players on a team that went to the tourney for a rotation spot at a bottom feeder Big East team. Just think of a guy like X that drops down and kills it, grass truly is not always greener.
  19. Awesome, seems like Hunter and Hankerson have really begun to find their roles. I think this is a great stretch for this team to gain confidence especially for the younger guys. Lyles provides some more good minutes. Only negative thing about the game is Freeman didn't get his stats, onto WMU who is currently in a dog fight with Ball State
  20. Expect the Zips to take a good look at Keonte Glinton, CB out of Wyoming
  21. That was a combination of the Zips being ready to play, hitting shots and EMU not wanting to be there and playing some of the worst defense I have ever seen. I have been to and watched a lot of D1 basketball in my lifetime but I am not sure I've seen a performance worse. Great atmosphere though, students definitely brought the energy and got into Bates' head quickly. Hard to think of a more lopsided MAC game in recent memory
