  1. Always important to win the first conference match, especially at home.
  2. I've been confused by the whole soccer situation in Cleveland. Because there's also a proposed soccer stadium across the freeway from Progressive Field. That would be for professional women's soccer and men's MLS Next Pro. Apparently this proposal is for USL men's soccer. But it would involve demolishing the arena and building a soccer stadium, I believe.
  3. No, they play at the Public Auditorium now.
  4. Dang, would've loved to see St Louis win both matches this week before they come into Akron next week.
  5. Zips come in at #10 in this week's coaches poll. Friday's opponent (UConn) is essentially #27 as they are second highest in the receiving votes section. Also worth noting that next Tuesday's opponent (St Louis) moved up from #24 to #7. https://unitedsoccercoaches.org/rankings/college-rankings/ncaa-di-men/
  6. I've always thought their poll was a little volatile, but I'm also not sure of its methodology. Is it just one person ranking the teams on behalf of the site, or do they have a committee or something?
  7. Akron stays at #8 in the College Soccer News poll, while Vermont moves up to #4. This week's opponent, UConn, is in the receiving votes section. https://collegesoccernews.com/college-soccer-news-mens-soccer-week-4-top-25-coaches-poll-nc-state-takes-1-spot-and-furman-jumps-into-top-10/
  8. Akron actually moved up a spot in this week's Top Drawer poll despite the loss. Up to #13. Vermont actually dropped from #10 to #11 but they did draw with Dartmouth on Tuesday which explains why. https://www.topdrawersoccer.com/college-soccer-national-rankings/men
  9. The stats on the NCAA site are only through Wednesday so it might be a little outdated. But at that time, there were only 7 teams who had a clean sheet for the entire season. Only the Zips had 6 games without allowing a goal as the others had played fewer matches. But as you said, we know Portland is now clean through 6.
  10. Volleyball and women's soccer both seem to be improved this year, but it can be hard to tell in non-conference. Hopefully it continues into MAC play!
  11. I can tell you from firsthand knowledge that while the bobbleheads weren't cheap, they did lead to a substantial boost in season tickets that year.
  12. This isn't talked about enough, we used to get more value for less money. But I guess that's true of all economic spends nowadays 😆
  13. Not saying Zips soccer isn't a good value, I have had season tickets for several years. I'm just saying the defending national champs are a better value. Plus, their $8 GA seats on equivalent seats (in terms of location) to the reserved seats at Akron, which are at least $25 per game.
  14. Also, not a critique of Vermont (maybe more a critique of Akron) but their tickets are all general admission at $8. Compare that to Akron where $15 gets you a GA ticket where you can only sit on the ends or on the hill. Also saw that Vermont season tickets are only $50.
  15. Obviously a big match with two tops teams in the country. Zips going on the road to the defending national champions and I saw on the Vermont site that the game is sold out. Should be a fun one!
